    This says it all.

The guy worships a crappy villain (a sad waste of a wonderful actor) who fought a laughable dance fight against Yoda.

I don't hate the prequels (not at all), but TFA is in a different league than those movies. That's just the way it is.

To be completely honest. The first time I saw the scene I was a bit underwhelmed because I was spoiled and knew it was coming. it threw off the pacing of the scene for me. On second viewing, looking at it more objectively I think it was executed perfectly. It will likely stand as THE iconic moment of this film by the time the trilogy is done.

Fully agreed. That scene will be most iconic as it demonstrated Rey's first real user-abilities (that we've seen) and it will stand as the moment that she starts her journey.

It WAS a memorable moment. And mark my words: Rey snatching the lightsaber will go down as an iconic moment in the saga.

You want to know why there was this big cheer over Yoda with the lightsaber in AotC? You want to know the real reason? IT was because the audience had been tortured through a 2 hour crapfest and was desperate for anything that they thought would rekindle the magic of the OT..

The reason the audience did not cheer Rey grabbing the lightsaber was because the audience was actually in the movie itself. We were all standing there in the freezing snow, witnessing this brutal lightsaber duel and holding onto our breaths that Rey might have the strength to defeat Kylo Ren.

It's the same reason no one cheers when they watch this: (relevant at 11:45)

Those who are complaining seem to have not understood that things like the death Star 3.0 were not real plot points. They were window dressing to engage the new viewer. The movie was elegant in execution and much more sophisticated and subtle than I expected. See it again and pay closer attention to the interactions, both things said and not said. Understand the movie then you will.

Unfortunately I will never see this film again...fool me twice and all that.

Sophistication and JJ Abrams don't go hand-in-hand

I'll be honest, I think this film is filled with plot holes terrible script and is a carbon copy of ANH. That said I enjoyed the film lot more than I thought it would.
But why is it OK for members here to bash the pt on a constant basis and it's accepted. The OP gave his honest thoughts on this film and he gets so much negative feedback that his post is hidden. I enjoyed watching it but this movie is flawed. I appreciate the OP 's feedback even though it seems it's not acceptable around here to give ones opinion if it's a negative one. Again double standards? Again I ask why is OK to bash the PT but not have a positive view of this film?

i don't think the negative feedback was brought on by the opinion. There are a number of posts on the forum from people criticizing the film that haven't received the same volume of negative ratings.. My guess is people took issue with the OP speaking of being so unhinged by the movie that he actually assaulted an inanimate object in the theater, scaring off other patrons. That goes a bit further than just not liking the movie.

Sorry for that...I truly am. Without (honestly) trying to sound harsh, do you have anything to say other than (like some members') vicious and hateful statements in this SW forum? I only say that because (honestly not DIRECTED at you) there are some here that are spewing unwarranted negative ratings (that I'm deleting, and they'll eventually be banned) because they hated the movie and are here because they can't get on with their lives...

Hell Paul...they're ALL flawed, every single one, and this one is no different. To further to answer you, all of the movies are bashed due to their perceived shortcomings, but the opening post was nothing more than a rant that honestly is counter-productive in a "fair-discussion" place like this.

No man, I wasn't at all imply that you were trolling...just curious. :)
