Well dear family, it looks like that lot's of fans are quite happy with the film...
My opinion though is that the plot is way too superficial and would have
been much more beautiful if it would have gone deeper in the force
spirit (like Ben and Yoda's teachings in the OT).
I did not see any beautiful and harmonious use of the force; for example, I would have liked to see Luke using the force to bring the saber in his hand.
The whole first order thing is just repeating the empire threat and in my
opinion it is quite a lack of creativity of not having things go forward
    to another level.
Also,I felt that only X-Wings in the attack is a really poor diversity in comparative with the Battle of Endor.
I hope the next films will become better and that we don't have to wait
the end of episode 9 to see a larger new jedi generation, real peace
across the galaxy and the altar of Mortis clone wars episode
    resolved....

How in the world is Han Solo dying not a memorable moment!?

It will never cease to amaze me how ridiculously fickle some star wars fans can be.

Perhaps it was the way in which he died...I mean I know Harrison always hated Han Solo but dang man, you really want your character to be killed by his own son?!!

I can only answer for myself, but my entire attention in this scene was fixed onto Kylo and how he'd decide. That somehow "stole" the thunder of Solo's actual death for me, which only became a memorable moment in reflection through Chewie. YMMV.

So... You get that Snoke is a hologram right? Wow man. You must have waited weeks to post this silliness. This film was great.

I guess I don't get why Everyone hates the Rey fight so much. I love it, I actually think her character might go down as one of the best in a while. To be honest, If you were to watch it again, and watched her choreography she is fighting with Kylo as if she was fighting him with a staff.

And the minute she force grabs the lightsaber and she catches it and ignites it, with that theme blasting. Gives me chills every time.

    I dunno

Might be worth recapping on those early TPM reviews and just taking a breath before saying this is the best movie of the franchise!

“Of the film, I can say many things. But the long and short of it is that I liked it — quite a bit. I’d rank it right after Empire in a list of fave Star Wars flicks. It starts great, ends great, and has great stuff sprinkled in between." Kevin Smith

“The Phantom Menace is probably one of the most deliriously inventive films to have appeared in years: it displays all of George Lucas's uncommon magic, a wide-eyed genius for adventure narrative that is beyond any ordinary capacity for wonder, and in many respects the latest episode proves itself to be a more finished movie than any of the others. It is daring and beautiful, terrifying and pompous – and that's just the title sequence." -Andrew O'Hagan for Telegraph Film.

"By no means the feared anti-climactic disappointment, Episode Ivitally succeeds in holding its own against the legions of blockbusters Star Wars was responsible for. It's an often deliriously exciting adventure, hitting the target audience of 10-year olds and satisfying long-time fans, providing the pop culture analysis is discarded." - Danny Graydon for BBC

"Stripped of hype and breathless expectations, Mr. Lucas's first installment offers a happy surprise: it's up to snuff. It sustains the gee-whiz spirit of the series and offers a swashbuckling extragalactic getaway, creating illusions that are even more plausible than the kitchen-raiding raptors of Jurassic Park." - Janet Maslin for The New York Times
"Comic relief – and, boy, does this movie need it – arrives with scene-stealer Jar Jar Binks, a gangly, floppy-eared Gungan, voiced hilariously by Ahmed Best but otherwise a fully digital creation. Jar Jar is an alien amphibian who lives in an underwater city and speaks in a pidgin English that still gets the point across." - Peter Travers for Rolling Stone

"The film is undeniably spectacular: droid armies, thriving cities and more alien races than the mind could ever process during a single viewing. There are some truly amazing visuals in the movie that blow away anything that any other filmmaker has ever attempted…" - SFX magazine

"The simple fact is this is a fun movie that only dedicated Star Wars-haters will fail to enjoy on some level. It has the requisite amount of monster madness and laser-showered space-based dog fights, and the climactic showdown is everything you'd hope for, combining a pitched battle between skeletal droids and amphibian aliens, an off-world attack on an immense spaceship and a three-way lightsaber showdown." - Total Film

Shortly after it was released and the hopium wore off. Then a legion of haters started coming out of the woodwork.

Almost the exact same thing will happen again with TFA. Although I doubt things will get as bad as the old OT/PT basher-gusher wars.

    That blast was nasty.

I was 25 when the Phantom Menace came out and left the theatre sad and dissapointed. Clones was even worse and Vader's birth in Sith was handled so clumsily that I just didn't care about Star Wars anymore by that time.

Now I'm 41 and can tell you that I like this new film just as much as anything in the OT. In all honesty I believe it might be better.
Kylo and Han! Pure greek tragedy in a fun space opera. If that doesn't give you chills i don't know what could.

I never said I can make a better movie.

I said it should have been better.

Story was weak. Everything was too convenient.
Too much content to explain in 2.5 hours.

This movie is setting up another 20. That's all it does really well.

I'm heavily biased but in the end i ended up liking it more than before i saw it, for me its a 6/10 which is about on par with Return Of The Jedi.
6/10 is not a bad score in my eyes and is a overall positive one.
