Yes this is really tricky, as a staff member of TFA, I would dislike to tell him things like: old boy, lets do some extra shoot, tomorrow it could be over with you.
I consider that they tell him, that the shooting is for Ep.VII only.
During the screening he thinks, hm many scenes from me got cut, or even better he doesn't even look the movie at all and never finds out.
All joking aside, Max Von Sydow is a professional, if they pay him, he will do the extra shooting.
I hope that he witness many birthdays in the future.

I had a brainwave right now, Max Von Sydow is playing Luke Skywalkers Padawan.
Then he is the oldest pupil ever in the trilogys, nodody would reckon that, that would be a huge surprise.

Remember when there was speculation of a cyborg villain? This talk has dissipated but I may have a connection to present. This will be long and windy but stick around because it could get interesting.

With one of the concept art leaks there were a concepts of an older character with a half cyborg face that was speculated to be Max von Sydow. Recently, I can't remember how recently, one site made a post that Max von Sydow's character was going to be a character that hardcore fans are familiar with but that casual fans will not know the significance of. And then there was the Darth Vader comic that included the mysterious character with half a cyborg face, and the writer for that comic had an interview where he stated that this character was one they would explore for the future. Could this be MvS's character?

Now, consider a rumored scene from the film in which Rey meets up with MvS, who is viewed as a mentor to Rey, to show him the lightsaber and he seems fascinated by it, and when she leaves he makes a call to an unidentified person and tells it that "she has it."

Think about the Third Order theory thread that was posted a few days ago, in which the author, I can't remember his/her name, or possibly one of the posters, considered the fact that Kylo Ren is a title. In this theory it was considered that this third order had influence in the empire and it's members were fascinated with Sith/Jedi relics.

Then, think about the flashback sequence that has been reported, in which Rey runs away because she is freaked out by something. Also speculated in the third order thread is that Rey freaks out because she sees her mentor, MvS, take the Kylo Ren mask off after the massacre. And, where have we seen this guy before? Possibly as the guy from the Darth Vader comic that was hanging around the emperor (imperial influence), and as the guy fascinated by the lightsaber that Rey had towards the beginning of the film (interest in Sith and Jedi relics).

To tie this all together, remember the concept art with the cyborg guy holding Vaders mask. Initially this character was speculated to be a full cyborg, but then it was reported that it was just a face plate and that the real face was part cyborg part human (just like the concepts for what could be MvS's character). What if those pieces of concept art were of another flashback sequence, depicting a younger MvS as Kylo Ren, admiring a Sith artifact, his imperial buddy Vaders mask? According to the third order theory, he would then attack the academy after it's formation to restore balance to the force, but he could also get revenge for the death of his imperial friend vader, and look for some cool artifacts. Then, when he passed the torch to Drivers character, he didn't need his full mask anymore, so that's why we see him with the robotic eye. He sets up shop on the sand planet, probably Tatooine, he realizes that Rey was at his massacre of the academy, befriends her, and when she happens to run into the lightsaber, he calls his protege (driver) up and tells him to get the lightsaber from Rey. Plot twist.

This sounds crazy and far fetched, I know, but it also seems to tie up a lot of the rumors we've heard about his character. Only hardcore fans would read the Vader comic, and when the previously mentioned characters significance is revealed later in the series, only hardcore fans would understand the implications of MvS's character in TFA if he turns out to be the character from the Vader comic. Obviously a glaring fault to this idea, other than it being absolutely crazy, is the concept art of MvS without cyborgness on him that leaked a couple months ago with the burning village piece. But, who knows how accurate the source was.

Again, pure, crazy speculation, but what do you think?
