SPECULATION Luke isn't the last jedi

That's right. It is actually very unclear how many Jedi are alive by the time of A New Hope. Nor do we know how many Jedi are still alive in the time of Empire Strikes Back. What we do know it that in Return of the Jedi Yoda tells Luke: "When gone I am, the last of the Jedi will you be". But he also contradicted himself by saying: "You must first confront Vader. Only then a Jedi will you be." So when Yoda dies there are no more Jedi? Yoda seems to have contradicted himself there. Though I think he must have meant a 'true jedi' instead of just a jedi.

 

That's the reason.

 

I doubt that Yoda would know EVERY single Jedi in the galaxy...he's not Professor X... ...

I totally agree with you my friend. When Lucasfilm decided to make CW canon, they opened up new views regarding the Force. Where we once thought that everything was limited to the Jedi representing the Light Side and the Sith representing the Dark Side, CW showed us that the Jedi and the Sith are just two types of organisations that master the Force in their own ways and they were not the central aspects of the Force. The Dagoyan Masters also used the Light Side of the Force while the Nightsisters used the Dark. This leads us to many questions as how could the mear existance of the remaining two Sith throw the Force out of balance when there was a whole clan of Dark Side witches who included a member ( Old Daka) that could even bend the Force to her will to raise the dead? What about Mother Talzin? When I look at her, I see Palpatine as a mear novice who just happens to know how to fight well with a lightsaber. He gots his blue lightning? So what! Mother Talzin has her awesome green lightning, she can create things out of thin air and she can even become mist and teleport! I'd say that could be a lady who could throw the Force out of balance but Sheev? And what of every other creature that could use the Force? Did they die too? If there were no more Sith and Luke lost his Jedi, there would still be other non Jedi/Sith Force manipulators out there so there would be no reason for the Force to have to lay dormant and need an awakening.

I think that the Jedi are no more after Luke. I think that he will create his own philosophy that does not gel with the teachings of the Jedi. Therefore, as far as being the last of the Jedi, that was trained by a Jedi, he would be the last. Maybe they will be called Bendu knights from here on out.

 

I'm in between. I feel that Luke and Rey will be the Last Jedi. However, TFO is taking it safe on the fact that there may be more Jedi out there. In my opinion, there are definetly 100% still sith out there so why aren't there still Jedi. But as we know of right now Luke and Rey are the last. Rey will become one of the Last I meant.

Two Sith just existing (being alive) isn't what put the Force out of balance.
It was two powerful Dark Siders that were spreading evil everywhere that did it. In this case, they were Sith and only by destroying those Sith would balance be restored.

The balance is about the equality of good and evil in the galaxy. But when powerful Dark Siders like the Sith take over, evil is everywhere. What the Jedi do is defeat these Dark Siders and restore the balance between good and evil in the galaxy.

 

I understand this but you yourself said that it was two powerful Dark Siders that were spreading evil everywhere that did it. If it were just Sith related then sure I can get it but as you said, it's the actions of Darksiders. Two Sith can hardly do more damage to the Force in a way that countless Dark Side users like Talzin can. When you look at the actions of Sheev, you see that mostly all he used the Force for was to hide himself and nothing more. The great victory he had and what let him rule the galaxy was his guile, mamipulations, contacts ect. Sheev's brilliant mind and awesome political tactics got him places where even Plagueis didn't get and he was way more powerful than Palps. Mother Talzin and the Nightsisters truly bend the Force out of wack as they created weapons out of thin air, gave other beings unatural powers, teleported, used voodoo and even raised the dead. A keen mind with the right contacts could have gotten when Sheev got without needing the Force but Talzin and her brood (I quote Palps here) really did use Dark Side abilities that some might consider to be unnatural.

 

But they did. The Sith took over the entire galaxy. I'm not sure Talzin etc managed that.
The Sith took over and as it says in the ROTS crawl started a war that meant "evil is everywhere".
It isn't about how they impact or use the Force itself but what they do to the galaxy - for it is the galaxy and its inhabitants that connect to and create the Force itself.

 

Luke is the last Jedi, but I hope not forever.
