Something tells me Hamill will have decent screen time. He was present for nearly all of the shoot. Anthony Daniels finished shooting a long time ago. HE won't have a lot of screen time.

It sounds like some force sensitive kids (Ridley and maybe Boyega) are drawn out of hiding by Luke or another faction. Maybe Luke's been compromised and is being used to bring the hidden force sensitives out of hiding?

This was a tactic used on Rebels last week.

Damn. I was hoping that very few people would side with this and when the movie is out, I would be the only one to say TOLDJA! :)
BTW I'm sure that @spectacle is not making things up and he is posting this with good intentions. There are really many layers of misinformation, old and unused concepts and other stuff that could send us to the wrong path. I think cyborg Luke is one of these. I believe it's an old concept that didn't make the movie. And I still don't understand why cyborgs grow beards. :)
But as I said above no one can be 100% sure with anything with this movie at this point. Even if legit something might not end up in the movie.

Saying Luke is the Warlord isn't saying Luke is a cyborg... and we know now from the most recent spoiler that the Warlord went through a lot of revisions... I know your source said that Luke isn't a cyborg, but (and I have asked this point blank before and never gotten a straight answer) is there anything that you have heard that would prevent Luke from being the Warlord and the Warlord not being a cyborg... that the Warlord is not a cyborg at all... even the concept with him and the helmet, when we knew him as the Grave Robber... did we net explore the potential it was a mask?

If that were true, then you would both be right...

    I'm thinking Norman Bates...

I think the beard was the red herring... and the specific attention that was drawn to it a guise to throw us off from believing this could be him... but that mask could hide a beard...

You are the boss... but the OP could be reporting accurately what he heard and be wrong... although I for one find it fits and does not contradict...

Let's just get this knocked out... do you know :Luke is a cyborg, or Luke is this character... ie, can he be this character and not be a cyborg?

Read the review of this concept... and this sounds like the snow cap mountain scene... just sayin...

I will say I was in Wal-Mart today and noticed a high amount of Star Wars (non-toy) related merchandise... I was looking for a battery for the bike and trying to get it back on the road before nightfall, but I will try to go back and see what all they had. More than likely, the same displays in your Wal-Mart...

He spent a significant amount of time in ESB choreographing the fight scenes...

@spectacle Will we get to see the transformation of Luke into a cyborg, or does he play a cyborg throughout the entire movie (albeit limited screen time)?

Also - the million dollar question - did your source reveal who or what is the ancient fear?

I have to agree with Viral Hide completely. This time around JJ's Mistery Box is actually an OPEN box, full of completely contradictory stuff, a puzzle that is impossible to solve because 50% (or more) of the pieces are not the "right" ones. Misdirection at its best. If this is actually the case, chapeau to JJ and Bad Robot.

Luke is a cyborg in this, in the same way as he wore Darth Vader's costume in TESB. It just doesn't make sense and completely contradicts and renders moot what happened in the OT.

To be a dreadful pedant, Luke's been a cyborg since the closing moments of The Empire Strikes Back ;) As for all other rumours, I'll believe them once we see good quality photos.

Look. From what I have been told, we don't meet Luke until the end of the film when it is revealed that he is a cyborg. By then end if the film, we don't know how or why he has changed. This doesn't mean he is the bad guy - I've been told it is ambiguous. I also know that Ridley was not Luke's apprentice and that Driver is the primary bad guy. Driver is taking orders from somebody too but i don't yet know who is giving them other than it is not MVS. I'm am trying to get more info on all of this.

I have a theory on some this but it is just that - a theory. I'm searching for support through 2 channels. If somebody has any information on Carey Fisher in this film i would appreciate it.

Last bit of info i currently have - there is a group of "pirates" who are protecting something. They appear to be bad guys at the beginning but are not.

But this directly contradicts the other rumors we've been reading. Mark Hamill has definitely filmed more than one scene, he's also been in at least one scene with Han Solo, where he was not cybernetically enhanced. There has just been too much information out there that contradicts your story.

Why would an actor, who was present on set for almost the entire shoot, be in 1 scene at the end? To NOT see Luke throughout the entire movie would make the audience automatically guess "well its the end now and he hasn't been seen yet, so that HAS TO be Luke standing there". Abrams would not want that 'subpar' surprise.

There's the vague possibility that Luke appears quite normal for his earlier scenes and then maybe revealed to have undergone cybernetic enhancements quite late in the feature ... not during the film but before, during his long period of absence ... and some severe degree of injury scrapes off some of his skin and exposes gears, circuits and wiring beneath at the story's end.

Would definitely be shocking, but again, it would render the OT pointless and doesn't explain the concept art of the cyborg collecting artifacts etc... The cyborg has to be established during the film and so does Luke skywalker. My interpretation of the rumours woUld indicate they are separate characters.
As has been mentioned in other thread(s), there is still some speculation as to who Domhnall Glesson is playing ;)

Edit- this has been mentioned already. What if the cyborg has been pretending to be Luke sky walker throughout the whole movie.

I'm not suggesting that Luke, by being cyborged, has turned to evil ... he may have been simply injured to a degree that warrants ugly extensive surgery. That would be a red herring cliffhanger - the audience worries he's finally turned to the Dark Side, but in Episode VIII we see he's survived temptation again and has managed to use his bionics in his favour. He's gone through the Dark Side and emerged scarred but mighty.

I'd rather he remained mostly organic - I'm not somebody who gets turned on by battle armour, novelty lightsabres and 'Terminator-level' cybernetics. Just some thoughts in case I'm wrong.

To completely transform a character like that, just to create a shock, seems unnecessary. But I like your thinking.

I am sure that we do not see Luke's transformation on screen. When we first see him he is part machine and possibly evil.

It doesn't matter if you want to believe it or not - that is how it goes down.
