for me there are elements that sound feasible.. but it's too different from past rumours. I'm certainly not buying it that Luke hardly has any screen time - if anything that matches up to the Michael Arndt's script speculations from way back when.

 

I really like MSW. I've been following them for a couple of years and listening to the podcast, which is generally top quality stuff. However, despite the assertion that they have seen irrefutable proof in the form of call sheets and shooting schedules that indicate certain plot points and character introductions have already been committed to film, we also know the lengths to which Abrams and Bad Robot will go to obfuscate and misinform potential leakers. And those were minor films, relative to Star Wars (although to be fair to Trek, the second coming of Jesus Christ would be relatively minor next to Star Wars VII). I just can't imagine how far they'd go to conceal the truth.

While Abrams has indicated SOME leaks are correct, who knows?! There could be fake scripts. Characters in one costume seen on a location, but changed into another when they arrive on the soundstage. Actors whose roles are completely under ultra top secret security, with strategic leaks to make us believe they are killed or only in the movie for 5 seconds.

Who. Knows.

All I'm saying is that I think anything we think we know, we should assume it's wrong. We've seen about 42 seconds of footage, some prototype action figure molds, some concept art that could literally be anything from actual production models to doodles by artists on set. I truly believe DIsney and Bad Robot have an entire staff dedicated to keeping the rest of the world as confused, misdirected, and off the scent as possible.
WHich, if I'm honest, is pretty rad and makes all this speculation much more of an exercise in imagination and enthusiasm than anything.

 

2-It appears Rey hates the sight of the saber because it brings back horrible memories--perhaps it is the weapon that killed her family or those around her...
3-Agreed.
4-The Seven defeat and then loot, yet still do not take possession of the "object"...which poses the question: were they after the saber, or did they nearly stumble across it?

Wasn't it Viral that posted an article on various actors and extras who got parts through a certain talent agency. He posted head shots of these actors and what parts they play. One of them was listed as a padawan.

Completely agree. His story keeps changing all the time. This wkd it was 110% fact Luke only has one scene. Today he's changed that. Next week it will be different. He sounds like Vader changing his deal with Lando. Basically he's trying to connect dots without having all the dots. If you're speculating don't say they are 110% facts. I'm sure some of this new info is true but I'm certain that there's more of Luke in this than he thinks there is.

 

4- I have a couple different ideas, the trader to the rich man thing is I think the trail of the lightsaber and how it got into the hands of Kylo Ren. But I'm just unsure of what Kylo and the seven wanted from the Clan, I think it was the lightsaber but it could've been Rey since I think she is a child of destiny sort of deal. But this leak seems to suggest that they got neither.

I think the Seven are pirates, but some people think they might be Sithish folk. I doubt Mandalorians are in the film and it will be heartbreaking

I don't get that from it at all

 

I think his number 3 is referring to this....

"It appears we see Naka take the sword at the start of the movie but we don’t know it is Naka until this sequence. So that actually might mean the opening of the film takes place sometime before the story is actually set and we jump time to the present day of the story. We don’t know very much about Naka at this time. It isn’t clear if Naka is the peasant that burns his hovel down either. More on Naka’s whacky adventures soon."

IF this is true then there will be that flashback or possible force vision scene later in the movie but the opening of the movie is like the first JJ Star Trek film kind of in that it starts and then makes a significant time jump to what is the present for the remainder of the film (aside from the force vision/flashback).

 

Anyone else see three plot threads here? The present time is obvious, but it seems like 'Rose' perhaps can see the past associated with objects through the force. Here is what I read; one set of flashbacks around the Academy where 'Rose' witnesses what happens with the lightsaber there, another set of flashbacks in the Savannah where sees the events of accidental find of the farmer, the firestarting, and that opening bit. Maybe vision she shares with the group is her using the force to see the history of the object....I went ahead and pulled out the three elements below in spoiler tags so it takes up less space.

Spoiler: Flashback Elements / Present Day

THE ACADEMY

• Flashback: Interior Night at Academy – Dead bodies are on the ground. Luke turns up.
• Flashback: Exterior Dusk at the Academy – It is noted it is peaceful now. Artoo-Detoo is saddened as his master departs.
• Flashback: Exterior Night Battlefield – Fierce battle! Sword is being use by the CLAN against THE SEVEN.
• Flashback: Exterior Night: the last man is down and Kylo Renn approaches Rey!
• Flashback: THE SEVEN are looting and we see Rose in the foreground taking “the object.”

THE SAVANNAH

• Flashback: Exterior Day at the Savannah – A hand that takes the sword at the start of the film is revealed to be Naka’s hand.
• Flashback: Exterior on the Savannah – A peasant’s hovel where the peasant drops the sword, starts a fire, panics and then returns.
• Flashback: Exterior Desert – Local trader is seen leaving. (I believe it then cuts to Finn and Rey’s faces as the story unfolds).
• Flashback: Exterior Day Desert – Local trader makes a sale to a wealthy man.

PRESENT TIME

• Interior Day Roses’s Pub – There is a secret underground chamber and Rose begins her tale to Han, Rey, and Finn. They hold hands.
• nterior Day Roses’s Pub: Rey moves past aliens in an uproar as she leaves the establishment.
• Interior Day Roses’s Pub: Courtyard: Rey runs away from the castle.
• Exterior Day: Woods near Roses’s pub Rey runs into the woods.
• Interior Day Roses’s Pub: Rose now knows why the saber “came to her.”
• Exterior Day: Woods near Roses’s pub BB-8 finds Rey but suddenly the villains are overhead.
• Interior Day Roses’s Pub: In the corridors underneath the pub they notice Rey and BB-8 are missing as massive shaking begins. Rose “users her special skills” to defeat Stormtroopers.
• Exterior Roses’ Pub Plate Shot: From Rey’s point of view we see the destruction of the Castle.
• Exterior Day Rose’s Pub – From Rey’s Point of view we see Rose’s pub is chaotic.
• Exterior Day Woods Near Rose’s Pub – From Rey’s perspective we see Rose’s Pub ruined. Kylo Ren arrives with Stormtroopers in tow.

 

All this talk about "The Seven" and the dead padawans, isn't this very similar to the very first rumours about jedi hunters? Just a few days ago I thought we had most of the film figured out. I'm so confused now, though. haha

 

I agree that the vision seems like either the recent history of the lightsaber or the history of how it relates to Rey.
The most interesting of all of the lines to me is..."Flashback: Exterior Night: the last man is down and Kylo Renn approaches Rey!"

When does Rey appear in the vision? How old does she appear? Is she at the Academy? Who is the "last man", a Jedi?
I think this will be the trigger for Rey freaking out but what happened after Kylo came at her?

That's why people as my self said that there is a whole lot we don't know, all of those people that "leaked" full plot summaries were full of it. I think my Third Order theory has been revitalized by this.

I think this is Rey as an infant getting orphaned, this wasn't an academy this was a village. I think what we see is the destruction of Rey's village. It isn't fun to see yourself getting orphaned.

 

I agree. That reads like I described but is that actually correct? Would JJ not only have a flashback near the middle of the film but also have it start with a time hop? ehhh I really doubt it.

I can see how it might be Rey getting her family/village destroyed but then also left by Luke??? Perhaps they are both in the flashback but in different locations within it or something. Either way Kylo Ren appears to be one evil Mo Fo.

The only impression you can get of Kylo from this stuff is he is just flying around destroying and killing everyone and everything when he lands.

 

Yes I think the Academy scenes and Rey's flashback scene are two different areas, it's been mentioned before it seems to be showing different plotlines.

 

Like you said...stuff needs cleaned up here. It seems all over the place.

 

Woah, this most recent post was confusing... or poor reading comprehension on my part, but I'm thinking not.

I'm telling you - Kylo and Rey are related/former students to Luke. It's implied he spared her, correct? I say again, we are getting a version or an amalgamation of the EU. Jacen/Jaina or Kyp Durron, Battle of the Jedi Praxuem, Imperial Remnant/Empire reborn, Sith Spirit(s) Exar Kun, Ania Solo, etc. Insert every damn story for the EU and blend on high for 2 and 1/2 hrs.

So 1 extra scene for Luke? Bummer. I really want him to school some people in this movie, so I hope Kyle's Miyagi theory pans out.
