Man everyone hates hayden, i loved him as anakin, and it would be great if he had a small cameo in the film as a force ghost!

I think I'd shed tears too, but for vastly different reasons.

I think the mysticism was increased actually. Just like in real life where things are explored with people trying to reveal what it is going on. Anyone who thinks the Jedi knowing a bit about midi-chlorians means they know everything is simply not paying attention. That clearly is not the case.

How was the mysticism ruined? I hear this a lot but it is never explained. I believe the idea you present came from Lucas haters who didn't like E1. They fail to explain how a symbiotic being with in the cells of a person which acts as a catalyst in communicating with the force is a scientific explanation of what is going on. Personally it is a cop out because they didn't like the difference in style between OT and E1.

    @hermann23

Actually that comment about the force ghost Anakin being in a novel makes perfect sense. I could see it being referenced in the film perhaps, but actually shown in another media form (novel or comic, whatever) which would avoid any uproar such a scene in a live action film might have. Good thinking.

I respectively disagree. It is pretty cool to think the Qui-Gon was the one person who figured out a way around death.

It's also important to note that Qui Gon figured it out because he did NOT follow standard Jedi philosophy of the time...

Star Wars is fantasy as much as it is science fiction. To explain things in such detail, takes away from the mystery of it. A lot of people, including myself, didn't care about how the force works on a scientific level. To try and explain it (which wasn't necessary) took away some of the fantasy element. This isn't real life, it's a movie. Talk to any sci fi director and they will tell you that the more you explain things, the less interesting they become.

My post explained why the mysticism was ruined. You may not agree, but I'm not going to retype what I've already written.

'Lucas haters who didn't like E1'- There are plenty of 'Lucas haters' and the Episode 1 haters are in the vast majority I'm afraid. Midichlorians is an unnecessary explanation for things that most people didn't want to be explained.

I suspect that in both your cases, you are die hard star wars fans and won't hear anything bad being said about them. Maybe over the course of time and with an obvious increase in quality with the new trilogy, you'll see how poor the prequels are in comparison.

I am really into the idea of a force ghost Yoda appearing in this trilogy, wether it's episode 7, or beyond. And I actually think that if they wanted to go the puppet route with Frank Oz, it would actually work. And I think it's a rare opportunity to employ a bit of retro filmmaking techniques. Because they have to doctor the footage to add transparency, and to make the image murky and ghostly, there is room for the details and limits of a handmade puppet to be glossed over just enough to make it work.
The Jim Henson Company was making ghost puppets back even in movies like Muppet Christmas Carol. Marley and Marley! Ok I know some of you know what I'm talking about, and of course the original force ghost Yoda. I guess what I am saying is that there is a precedent for combining cgi with live puppetry, and with the art progressed to this point, why shouldn't it work to great effect? I'd even settle for A Frank Oz performed mo cap puppet. Maybe I'm just a honk for this kind of stuff. But hey I can dream.

My sources say that Yoda will be the only force-ghost to make an appearance in the new trilogy. Apparently, with Vader reverting to Anakin and becoming a force-ghost, he was reunited with force-ghost Obi-Wan and force-ghost Qui-Gon who had much to catch up on, what with the whole, "why didn't you tell me" conversations... they have recently been seen on Level 13, and will be the subject of one of the spin-off movies

I wanted to resurrect this thread because of something I heard this morning, from both sources. This is happening, and I don't think it's going to be a surprise at the end of the film, they say Yoda might pop up in the trailer at the end of the month.

If a teaser is to come out this year, it has to be during the next two weeks, to boost Star Wars stuff sales during XMAS shopping season (2014).
Even if there is no Episode VII toys and stuff yet.

I'll be happy if they have built on the "pass on what you have learned" line with these films.
It's the only aspect of the OT that genuinely points towards any kind of sequel, and it was obviously on Lucas's mind while Return of the Jedi was still current:

"[Episodes VII, VIII and IX] deal with the rebuilding of the Republic [and] the necessity for moral choices and the wisdom needed to distinguish right from wrong. If the first trilogy is social and political and talks about how society evolves, Star Wars is more about personal growth and self-realization, and the third deals with moral and philosophical problems. In Star Wars there is a very clear line drawn between good and evil. Eventually you have to face the fact that good and evil aren’t that clear cut, and the real issue is trying to understand the difference. The sequel is about Jedi Knighthood, justice, confrontation, and passing on what you have learned."
    - George Lucas, 1983

I really think the plan was to release to teaser at this particular time from the start... Maybe delays just makes it hell and rush these days to make it happen.... but it will... it will...With Hunger Games
