Perhaps someone working at Bad Robot found out how much Jason hates Star Wars fans (his words, not mine) and targeted him for a take-down. "We shall build him up with false info and let the same fans he hates take him down when all the cards fall." :p

But in all fairness, he has gotten a couple of kernels correct (even a broken clock is right twice a day). I doubt his sources more than I doubt him; I don't think he's getting spoon-fed misinformation, it's probably more like his sources think they know more than they actually do. The sources speculation becomes Jason's "facts" and he in-turn speculates further from those "facts." I believe many of the minor-details he's released (i.e.-details on costumes, props, etc), but find it truly impossible to believe he knows as much as he claims to.

What I really want to know is: who/what is Warwick Davis playing??

Right now MSW is the only spoiler game in town unless you count random crazy posters on reddit. This new trailer lines up with a lot of the stuff he has presented. At this point I am more willing to believe him then any crazy reddit poster. The way MSW has presented the info has contributed to many being skeptical of the info and I respect that. However, as time goes on and more official info like what we saw this past week, I think we should look closely at what MSW presents because among some of the speculation also sits some truth.

Because it bears repeating: from a narrative standpoint, setting up a major plot point over the course of the movie and only teasing the use of said plot point in the end (even with the promise that you're going to follow it up in a sequel) is a quick way to piss everybody off, and it's really bad storytelling!

I will say that a lot of the panels that I attended at Celebration that mentioned Mark Hamill kept reiterating the "Luke is back!" point. Why would they do that if he's only in a lazy cameo? Not to mention that the trailer essentially confirmed that he's in more than one scene with the re-recorded dialogue from Return Of The Jedi and the mechanical hand on R2-D2. And @Paul Resendes certainly has a point with the thing about the robes and drones.

My guess is that much of the shooting information on the last section of the movie is deliberate misleading and/or untrue, while a good portion of the stuff about the beginning is true. I wouldn't put it past J. J. Abrams.

The panelists that didn't work on the movie don't know anything. They just saw the second teaser. Which is probably "flashback Luke" as that's why it's obscured in not only the teaser but the publicity photo that was released.

The MSW filming outline of the ending aligns with this. Only cast there were Hamill and Ridley.

I think they would have coached the hosts about not inflating people's expectations. The convention is all part of the PR. It would be a complete disaster for them to make people think they're going to see Luke actually do something when they're not. I don't think Disney's marketing machine would allow what you're suggesting. And did you notice that at the opening panel, Mark Hamill got what sounded like the biggest ovation out of anybody onstage? The whole Star Wars community is obviously dying to see Luke again, and Abrams and Kasdan probably know this. I don't see how they can take a franchise they're handling with kid gloves and make a decision with it as flagrantly stupid as what Jason Ward claims they're doing. It just goes completely against common sense.

    You guys are funny.

The trailer confirmed several things from the MSW "shot list" -

Bloody helmet, crashed star destroyer, falcon flying into crashed star destroyer, Finn changing clothes, desert planet NOT being tatooine, Tie fighter shootout/escape from hanger, rose giving someone a lightsaber, and evil castle...

Meanwhile absolutely nothing about MSW "shot list" was debunked by the trailer...

So naturally we're going to drag out the Luke can't possibly be in 2 scenes, misinformation conspiracy, MSW is full of BS argument.

I'm NOT saying compelling arguments can't be made for Luke to get more screen time, and maybe that will be the case. But so far the evidence is pointing to MSW being right.

Just remember - if they are to be believed, MSW says that Luke is still central to the story. The pay off in the end is more than just a weak cameo. I could see that working if it's done right. I could also see that sucking if done wrong. We don't know enough to be making such harsh judgments.

No one doubts that at least some of his information is accurate. But does he have details about every last shot of the entire movie? Is it even plausible to suggest every last detail would be available from one source? And this is a source that doesn't even seem to know names for certain characters (e.g., Serkis is still referred to as "Uber" in Ward's reports and Gleeson as "The General"); the guy he's talking to is probably somebody relatively low on the food chain. How would such a person have documentation for the entire movie with all the compartmentalization supposedly going on in the production? Also, some of what Ward says cannot be true because of contradictions between some of his reports. I raised concerns about the issue of how much of the movie he really has a while ago, and he just gave me a "dislike" and ran away, which makes me think I hit on a raw nerve.

OK guys, I am locking this thread. Many people are using it to personally address their opinions towards Jason and MSW. I am not defending him but we're not going to turn to a MSW bashing board. I am not going to allow that. I think MSW is right on quite a lot of things about the new movie. Some of you might not like what they are hearing, but give the movie a chance.
You're free to create separate threads discussing MSW's rumors. And every comment addressing the poster will be removed. Please report such comments so that we could react quickly.
We're young community and we have great times ahead of us. Let's be cool and do it the right way.
