Official Rey Episode VIII thread

She'll keep the Skywalker Lightsaber at the beginning of the movie, then she will fabricate a custom double-bladed blue lightsaber

 

Yes Rey did low level Jedi abilities but those need to be taught at one time. She just recently came a conduit for the Force so her connection to it would be shaky at most like young Anakin winning a podrace. He did not understand his use of the presight which allows him to win. Likewise any force ability must have training to be used on command. Thus to have Rey having this strong of a force connection screams of prior training. A force vision only happened to Luke after training with Yoda. Rey has one even before she touches the light saber. So that also tells me she has had training in the past. Then her frightful memory of what the Knights of Ren did and how did she not remember that? Obviously those memories where very traumatic for a little girl. So either there was a force block placed by Luke or She did it herself to suppress the trauma. This also gives proof that Rey was previously taught as a youngling.

 

Luke's first demonstrated Force skill in ANH was blocking three laser bolts while blind-folded.

You make a very valid point. I am still skeptical that Rey has any force training and I buy more into the idea that the force worked through her. But I also do not have evidence to counter what you have said and prove its falsity. I guess all we can do is just wait until Episode 8. In the meantime, it is still fun to think about all the possibilities.

 

I loved Rey in The Force Awakens; she was definitely my favorite character in the movie. She came across as a very reluctant hero who wanted nothing more than a normal life with her family; instead she got left on a hellish world where every day was a fight to stay alive. She had to be a good fighter and mechanically adept in order to survive on Jakku. She was a really good pilot, after who knows how much training on her simulator. So her being force sensitive only makes her even more powerful. I think she was using the Force subconsciously at points throughout the film. She has her faults though. She seems pretty susceptible to the Dark side as shown in her fight with Kylo Ren. She probably has a lot of anxiety and built up animosity over her family and being left on Jakku for 14 years. She doesn't seem to be in complete control of her emotions or her force powers at the end of TFA either allow this will probably be resolved in her training with Luke. Also as others have said on here, Rey beating Kylo in TFA could lead her to being overly confident against him in Episode VIII.

 

Over confident only if she hasn't had any sort of training since TFA leading into VIII .

 

True she probably will have had some sort of training from Luke by the beginning of VIII and she didn't seem like the type to get cocky or what not, so she probably won't be too overly confident to point of her detriment. Then again Anakin was extremely over confident in his abilites even after years of Jedi training and look where that got him.

 

Isn't it safe to say though, that he was only over confident due to his confliction with the light and dark sides of the force? Not that the same thing couldn't be the case here (as Rey seemed to have a bit of a pull toward the dark side while fighting Kylo), since Luke also struggled with that to a lesser extent (when compared to Anakin).

 

To be fair snaking sky walking is a different beast all together as he was the chosen one and brought balance to the force. Rey is just really strong through some sort of connection whether she's a Skywalker or not. Don't forget that Anakin Skywalker, no matter how level headed he was, was almost child like with his emotions .

I hope the blue one, that thing is the new excalibur. They would be foolish to take it out of the next episodes.

 

Ok....This one is a EASY one....MAYBE.....Looks that Rey will be trained by Luke Skywalker....ALL the roads is going that way.If Rey finish her training with Luke as a jedi....Did you think she will built her own lightsaber or she will keep Luke lightsaber?Thoughts???

 

What I find funny is that everyone ASSUMES she will be trained...I mean...she will...but she might not either.

 

She would build her own.

 

I think she will either build a double bladed yellow saber, or just keep the original Bespin saber. Although I think the Bespin saber might get lost in the coming episodes...

 

Very cool image! This is what I was hoping to see her use. I think it would suit her very well. I think that she will use Anakin's saber at least to start off with. Hopefully she will construct something like this in the future.
