Now the bad news...
By some bizarre quirk of the calendar, December 18th is 984 hours long.

I think that might be Kylo and FO blowing up Poe's X-Wing at the Village

 

I think the set photos that we saw were of The TIE Fighter during the day...however, we saw "A" TIE Fighter, and we would want to look at The Trailer #2 when The TIE Fighter is flaying crazily down to the planet's surface and see which way the sun is facing on which side of the planet.

A flashback in the form of a Force vision would be ideal. Maz might be a sorta of fortune teller with force type telepathic powers. Showing a vision to Rey about the past and about Luke. But maybe the vision is not accurate and maybe it's a set up? I want badly want to see more force powers being used in different ways. I think it will totally fit star wars if this is how they do it.

So I noticed something in the first shot of this new trailer I didn't notice before, and I think it contains some purposeful symbolism. The way the shot it framed, Rey (a homonym of the word "ray", the importance of which will be clear in a moment) is standing in the middle of a giant half circle, which has lines extending outward radially, like the sun.

Further, the flow line of the composition of the shot runs from the center of the circle to the top left of the frame. This is because the framing shows us more of the left and top "rays" of the sun and cuts off the right and bottom "rays", so the motion feels like it flows up and to the left. Why does this matter? Because this sun is either rising or setting, and we have been trained to associate west with left and east with right (that's how the cardinal directions are typically indicated on maps). So if the flow of energy of the shot is up and to the left (east to west) this sun is rising.

So in conclusion we have our new hope (our ray of light) shining from the center of the rising sun.

EDIT: Just watched the shot again and noticed one more little thing that I'm less sure about, but is still at least minorly interesting. The way Rey's staff is positioned in the sand lines up as if it were aligned along the face of the sun, like the hand of a clock... So then perhaps the message is that the time has come for Rey to fulfill her destiny - to rise and bring new light to a galaxy steeped in darkness.

EDIT 2: Lol, I can't stop watching this now . I noticed yet one more thing. The music in that shot sounds like chimes...like, say, the chiming of a clock?...

She's a bright source of light... no matter how we look at her!

 

I applaud you guys for find new stuff, and original ways of looking at the movie even after one year of discussing it and speculating.

don't forget that it is a trilogy, and that it is JJ abrams who love laying hypothesis in front of us and let us wonder.. Id expect some big frustrations from those who believe that Ep7 will end up in fanfare like Ep4 or Ep1. it will let us with more questions than answers.. Luke is the holy grail quest in Ep7 for certain, so he might make an appearance to save the day ( or worst.. bury his friends.. remember that shot with him near R2D2.. could be a funeral pyre O_O ) Time for answers might come wih Ep8...
