So for all of you who are a sucker for details like me , here is something weird and interesting i found . In both the Official and Japanese trailers BB-8 and Rey's bodies move exactly the same way and leave identical marks in the sand but in the Japanese trailer Rey turns her head towards the droid at the end of the clip . Just the head is different.

CGI HEAD CONFIRMED!! No seriously i have no idea how these things work but there is definitely some fancy smansy copy paste CGI editing thingy at work here. JJ is all like "I like how she walked in the sand in this shot but i also like how she turned her head in that other one , lets combine the two" Damn son!





Had to brighten this one cause it fades out in the trailer .



Open the different trailers in two windows and compare at 0.25 speed to see for yourself .

As much as i find this a bit odd it is also reassuring to know that time and energy is spent on tiny little details like this to get the scene just right don't you think?

 

So is that just glare or is it an explanation for why the crossguards wouldn't just slice off?

 

Actually, I think the fact that Luke is the redeemer of Anakin and the fact that people were so callous about his attachments argues that the Jedi ban on relationships was incorrect. I would hate to think Luke would go to the trouble to bring back the Jedi just to make the same old baby-snatching mistakes his predecessors did.

 

This is an excellent point! If you're going to rebuild the Order for a new age, don't repeat the same mistakes. It's certainly possible, and I think could play very well, especially if Luke begat Rey and Han and Leia begat Kylo. I call this theory Les Cousins Dangereux.

here actually was a practical droid on the set for reference, which is what we saw at the celebration. You are right that the end product was CGI due to practical limitations. However, unless BOTH Rey and BB-8 are CGI in that shot, I do believe, that it is a possibility that BB-8 COULD have been practical in that shot, at least.
