Back to the snow planet RYOOME, I was just looking at a map of the galaxy (trying to find Lothal) when I noticed a planet named Ryoone, located about halfway between Hoth and Endor. Maybe this secondhand source mixed up one consonant?
Wookieepedia has only this to say about the planet: Ryoone was a dismal planet in the Outer Rim characterized by a "seemingly permanent suspension of ash in the upper atmosphere."
Maybe that's not snow that Kylo Ren is trudging through in the trailer?

I started thinking about this and about how the early rumors about Kylo Ren stated he was an artifact collector. Now, naturally my speculation went to Sith Empire artifacts--namely holocrons. And of course, we've seen sithcalibur now..

But what if he's also looking for Rakatan artifacts as well?

The Rakata used the Force to navigate hyperspace and plot their conquests by locating force sensitive beings on distant worlds and guiding their starships through hyperspace to them. That sounds a lot like what this 'detector' is: and ancient yet working Rakatan Force detector of some sort that Kylo Ren has retrofitted to the task of finding new force sensitive prospects.

This is EU, or course, but it is in the 'toybox' that JJ, LFL and SBG can pull from and retool for their new 'canon'.

And very little EU baggage to accompany it. Ripe for the plucking.

found this in the comment section on the main site with the carrie fisher daughter news. i for one, hope this isnt true.

    from anonymous:

"God damn it. I just heard something I wish I hadn’t . Here is a spoiler alert so don’t read if you don’t want to know.

    SPOILER ALERT!

I am 41. I taught full time at one of the country’s best art schools on the east coast for four years before relocating. A former student who graduated in 2004 recently visited me here in the Midwest. He fulfilled a childhood dream and is now working in film and is working on post production for TFA. This morning, we had coffee. He knows I am a huge fan and I have never pressured him to divulge. However, he saw the SW7 news site open on my browser when we met at the cafe and asked how I could spoil the experience of films by reading about them in advance. I looked at him incredulously as I know he perused theforce.net just as religiously as I did back in the days before ROTS. He laughed and asked what I’d heard. The conversation thread in the Cantina about Jason’s latest post was what was up on the screen and I explained how it seemed some people close to the film felt it was a retread of old ideas. He looked down at his coffee and hesitated. He asked if I heard of “the mirror.” I told him I had. He asked if I knew about Billy Lourde playing a young Leia. I said I had. He then said the Death Star III, operated by Leia rumors were true, but that the mirror is an imperial weapon developed with the knowledge that she would use it to destroy “the catapult” at the climax, toward the end of the film. The Death Star’s laser is fired but intercepted by the mirror and used to propel the galaxy back in time, just before A New Hope. The film sets up a reboot, and Billy Lourde is the new Leia in episodes 8,9 and beyond. he refused to tell me who will be cast as Luke and Han, but did tell me that obviously Vader, Tarkin and the Emperor are back for Episode 8. The final scene of the film is similar to the one at the end of ROTS, only this time Vader,Tarkin and the Emperor are looking out at a Star Destroyer while on board the first Death Star.

I took it all in. My former student then said that it is not as bad as it sounds. It does, however, seem as though Finn, Rey, Poe and Kylo either die in the film, or will reappear is some kind of parallel universe storyline."

I'm calling huge BS on that. That seems like a Star Trek's fan theory on what JJ is going to do to TFA.

Wow. If what this guy is saying is accurate, Star Wars will be dead after this movie; the whole franchise will be finished. This is one of the dumbest ideas I've seen yet, and I, too, don't want it to be true.

Well, the ash could block out the sun, causing the planet to suffer eternal winter; hence the snow and dismal conditions.

That's literally exactly what happens in the first star trek movie. Except Spock comes from an alternate universe to warn young kirk about the romulans or something. And JJ did that so future filmmakers could use Star Trek and not be bound to the original story and stuff. It essentially wiped out every bit of star trek info like that Spock was never capable of human emotion such as love, and made him the love interest of Uhura. Which is essentially like JJ creating in TFA storyline...

    Luke: Leia you're awesome
    Leia: Yeah you too.
Luke: Good thing Obi-Wan Kenobi told me we were definitely NOT siblings and we are free to have a romantic relationship.
Leia: Damn straight, baby. Now come get some sugar.

That would be a hell of a lot of money wasted by Disney then....

There's no way this is true. I'm basing this off of JJ not wanting to spend the rest of his life in hiding.

In all seriousness, my guess is that the Republic does have a super weapon. Leia does not want to use it, while Kylo Ren, her son, does, and that decision is part of his path to the Dark Side. Remember the vision Luke is supposed to have of Adam Driver committing atrocities? Hence why he wants to kill him? That's a vision of Kylo using the super weapon--if not in this movie, then in Episode 8 and/or 9.

People, people, let's all take a second to breathe and remember this is from a comments section. Of a fan site.
First off, sure, we already have explosions in space and a mystical force, but the sheer disregard for any science in that fiction is abysmal. Lasers hit a mirror and a universe is propelled back in time? c'mon.
Secondly, do you really think JJ would pull out the same weapons grade balognium on both Trek and Wars? No way. Nobody at Lucasfilm would put up with that.

Some people's calf muscles must be relaxed, seeing how often these jokers pull their legs.

    SPOILER ALERT!

I am 48. I made two Star Trek movies on the west coast at one of the biggest movie studios in the world before directing Star Wars. None of that blast is true.

I'm very skeptical of theories which propound that Kylo Ren is Han and Leia's son. According to one of Jason Ward's sources, Adam Driver's character, who is almost certainly Kylo Ren, commands a unit of chrome stormtroopers. Ward put forth this story with a very high degree of confidence (see http://makingstarwars.net/2014/11/teaser-wait-star-wars-force-awakens-line-film/). If true, this tells us Kylo Ren is fairly high up in the power structure of the Empire and consequently very unlikely to be a Solo. I personally find the rumor about Count Dooku being Kylo Ren's ancestor to be more plausible.

Same feeling....This "plot" sounds like NuTrek which was written by Orci and Kurtzmann which ignored every Star Trek lore....why should JJ do the same and even with Star Wars? Since when did this Franchise need a Reboot? Sounds laughable bad ....Doing it twice to two big universes will kill the Fanbase of Star Wars just off...

Completely agree. I think Rey is the only legacy, with a possibility (and I see Jason hint at it) that Gleeson is Luke's son. That's fine with me.
