Ok, so while this is awesome for the kid... who else didn't realise that it wasn't Pedro in TBOBF Se1E6!?!?

I've never believed Pedro was in the suit for episode 5 and 6. Mainly because we never saw him without the helmet. He's just doing the voice over.

I wonder if we see him without the helmet in the finale. I don't think you get Pedro Pascal back for a couple lines of dialogue.

My assumption, here, which could very well be incorrect, is that Pedro was hired specifically for TM show, and they didn't bother to bring him onto the set for the armor cameos in TBOBF. It's probably a lot cheaper to just have the body-double do it, and then have PP "phone in" the overdubs from New York later, and keeping costs down is probably a major issue with these high-production value shows.

Yep, you both make a good point - I guess I'd just never considered it would be anyone else and now feel a bit daft about it :D

I don't think he said attachment was inherently bad. But training to be a jedi knight is a serious commitment that attachments must be sacrificed for.

Attachment = bad is just nonsensical. It needs to be placed in context. Like having a conflict of interest at work. Where there is conflict between a code you swore to live by and the life you secretly have or want, the tension can cause an individual to make poor choices; feel trapped, constricted or unduly oppressed and therefore resentful and jealous.

All attachments affect behaviour to a certain degree but it's when it is placed in context that it becomes an issue.

There's also a school of thought that says when things are proscribed, or prohibited, it's a sort of a self fulfilling prophesy. Like we needed to be given the ten commandments before those things became sins. Teaching those commandments to those that went on the break them is that which made them "sinners". Or sin cannot happen until we are taught how to sin by those that define them.

A sort of example would be alcohol. In excess, alcohol always was and will be a problem. Never was alcohol such a problem when it was prohibited though. Gangster's profited and the greed and violence bloomed. Officials were corrupted and public institutions were undermined.

Was it attachment or love, or is it all the same. The issue arises when 'attachment' leads to conflict with your duty. And that is likely to happen sooner or later.

Maybe the confusion here is "connection?" Vader didn't know his son. Luke didn't really know his father. That had a connection. Rey and Ben didn't really know each either. They shared a connection. Those connections aren't as strong as the bond Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon shared together. There's nothing wrong with caring for people. There's certainly a different level of commitment to someone who is your friend than a person who is your spouse. A Jedi cannot serve two masters.

A connection with others isn't forbidden, but deep attachments will always be forbidden in order to be a Jedi.
Good question here and that's my point. It's not the same thing.

But in the Jedi order's view, that includes children who have been raised to the age of nine by a loving parent. An average, "normal" person in other words.

Correct. It would be very difficult for a 9 year old to let go of their attachment to their mother. Anakin never lets that go. The tragedy of Anakin is that Qui-Gon dies. Qui-Gon was probably capable of training that child and giving him the guidance he needed. Obi-wan only did it out of obligation. Obi-wan was a brother where Qui-Gon would have been a more fatherly part of Anakin's life. Duel of Fates... etc. It seems people get caught up in the Padme relationship, but Anakin was off the rails before that.

Okay passengers, show of hands.... raise em up if you thought you'd be arguing Luke's philosophy of Jedi and attachment during the course of BoBF.

Best poster I've seen so far from the show, from the finale. So retro and old school.
    Love it!

I agree, If he had an appropriate father figure he would have been set straight. Anakin went with his passions instead of abiding by to the Jedi code of ethics. Like OB1 said, if Satine had asked, he would have left the Order for her. Anakin thought he could have both Padme and remain a Jedi Master.

(Corran Horn was a married Jedi in the novel I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole, but that is a Legends book it doesn't follow GL's rules, so Legends was thrown out unfortunately, Luke later married Mara Jade and that is one of the many reasons we will never see Mara in live action or animation... I hope I'm terribly mistaken).

A simple fault of an inexperienced Jedi. Why did OB1 know better and Anakin did not? Anakin also did not head the words of Mace Windu. Anakin had Windu's trust but he still went ahead disobeyed Windu's order of staying put. He should have allowed a seasoned Jedi Master to handle such a delicate matter.

Luke had been raised by loving parents for nearly twenty years. He'd grown attached to several friends he wished he could join up with in the academy. And he became a jedi in a few short years.

And when he decided to become a Jedi, his attachment to them didn't interfere. Because they were dead. (Morbid, but true.) When it became time to be a Jedi proper, Luke let go of most of his attachments. He disengaged from the Rebellion/Republic, distanced himself from his sister and best friend/brother-in-law and surviving friends, and set out into the universe to find tools that would guide his path.

Luke attachment to his friends and family was also his fatal flaw. His fear of Leia being seduced to the Dark Side by Vader made him nearly succumb to the Dark Side in a fit of rage. His instinct to destroy evil in his nephew, to strike down his own blood because he was afraid of what would happen if he didn't tragically came to be.
Luke's biggest strength and his greatest flaw was his community. They provided him the means to move forward, but they were also his greatest stumbling block.

Regarding the attachment topic, I just read this here:

If true, then it's the right direction IMO.

The first 40 minutes of ROTJ is dedicated to Luke risking absolutely everything in order to save his friend Han. Not for the greater good. Not to aid the Rebellion. Not to defeat the Empire or the Sith. Not to restore balance to the Force. But because of his attachment. Because of that bond. Because Han would (and did) do the same for him. That’s more than “connection”. Luke knew Han, loved him, and wasn’t willing to let him go.

Can you imagine if Luke was a Jedi during the Clone Wars? If he set aside his duty and struck out on his own to save his old pal from a scrap he’d gotten into with the Hutts? I can’t imagine that would have been fondly looked on by the Council. But clearly, through context, that act is very much intended to be fondly looked on by the audience.
