I agree with you bad movies can do marvelous in box office. Star wars 8 is a bad movie but it will do wonder at box office.

Box office results are no sign of quality. A movie can be really bad and have good numbers.

That's your personal opinion and I respect that. But you can hardly state that as a fact. People like it. Clearly. The critics like it, clearly. It's making money, clearly. It kind of checks all the boxes.

TLJ ain't a bad movie. Heck, even Batman vs Superman wasn't a bad movie. It was badly plotted and characterised, sure, but there was an attempt at an arc.

If you want to see a bad movie then watch one of the later Madea films, or even a failed parody like Epic Movie.
A friend made me watch one with her because she said "it's so bad it's funny" and I almost ended myself over how terrible it was.

And count your blessings we don't have Chris "I f*cked up Jurrasic World way worse than what RJ did with TLJ if you hated it" Treverrow directing IX.

I liked it too. It was different than what a marvel director would've done, less safe and stationery. It had marvel level humour, but way better acting and story.

I think some lads got me wrong here. Not only my son and my nephew loved it. I love it too.
I like if a film is able to surprise me and makes me thinking and reflecting a lot about it. :)

TLJ had clear and important themes, and great development for all characters. Even if the quality of each individual arc can be debatedly different, it's still a lot to think about and apply to life.

Even I can be a hero now lol.

The scientific polling shows around 89% of people like the film. There's a definite vocal minority who are trying to convince themselves by rigging online polling that their opinion is bigger than it is.... not every one who didn't like the film is doing that, but there are some who are taking their disapprove to bizarre places.
It's not a "good barometer" simply because you disagree with it. It's 100% more important than an online poll that can be gamed very easily.

I don't care whether people like the movie or not if they are civilized about it, but it is curious that when the score jumped from 56 to 57% yesterday, the vote suddenly received around 10 thousand votes - within a few hours to bring it back down. I know, I followed it because it intrigues me, this mentality of 'best thing eva!" or "worse than The Room!".

Every system that allows multiple accounts and votes, really has no objective value in measuring anything.

It's clear that the SOME fanboys who hate TLJ are whiny internet trolls. I clicked on some of the profiles of users voting 0-2 on Metacritic and I saw 10s for movies like BvS, Suicide Squad, MoS and in one case, The Emoji Movie. Seriously...

Warner Bros and Disney and Sony are all collaborating! To give 10s too all their movies! Its a conspiracy!

But aren't we supposed to fight to save the things we love?:p
I'm just saying, the gander is playing the same game here as the goose. We've seen the binary voting, not just at RT either. What we are witnessing here, IMHO, is not representative of an accurate headcount but rather an emotional struggle between to factions of our fanbase over this movie.

I'd love to post a graphic of a certain scene from TLJ here instead but.. spoilers, y'all..

I believe you are completely correct, that's why, if you have to give credence to any fan reactions at all, it's better to go with the theater audience reaction in CinemaScore. One person - one vote. The best option, when it comes to the movies you will most definitely see, is to decide for yourself. When it comes to the smaller movies - critics. Theater is not the cheapest entertainment, so listening to people who watch movies for living is the best option when deciding to watch something smaller or more artistic.

Yeah, I would say that Disney's recent actions against film critics would, if anything, drive the critical score down, irregardless of whatever "Ghostbuster Bounce" they want to give this movie.
Honestly, after that debacle, and the L&M termination.. I was expecting the critics to savage this film. I really was.

I think my biggest issue is that, if you say you didn't like the film then you are someone a wise and intelligent critic. And liking it makes you, I dunno. Foolish.

I loved this movie. It wasn't perfect, but neither was TFA or Rogue One, nor with Episode IX. But what a time in the theatre.

It is not very well liked in France (where I live) amongst viewers. 3.2/5

Take a look at their views...

    http://www.allocine.fr/film/fichefilm-215099/critiques/spectateurs/

    http://www.allocine.fr/film/fichefilm_gen_cfilm=215099.html

The French press as well. 3.5.

It seems Disney could not afford pay off all the critics in the world.

Where I watched it (France) no one left the cinema impressed.

Looking at the UK sites, the viewers are equally the same in their revulsion towards this film.

You either have to be braindead, paid or from ..... to like this film.

It’s funny how the people who enjoy it think there is a small vocal minority who don’t like it. And anything that shows people don’t like it must be rigged.

I wonder how much Disney pays each critic?

In all seriousness, if Disney really pays off the critics, why don't all of their movies get great reviews?
