it's alleged that this is the vision Rey will see when she touches the wayfinder.

I don't generally put much trust in rumors and spoilers from unofficial sources, ('cause the spoiler industry means that, statistically speaking, at least 99% of what is claimed is necessarily false/lies), but I will be sad if it turns out we're not getting the...
...RotJ era Luke & Leia training flashback. :( That scene just sound so powerful and loving. Please, LFL/JJ/KK/& al., make this scene be real and in the movie!

That's the scene I'll also be very disappointed in not seeing (if it was true it was even at one stage a thing)

I was very gutted to read the latest on that scene (potentially) not making it into the film.

According to the rumours, some kind of device which pinpoints the "Unknown Regions" and/or the whereabouts of Palpatine...

Personally, this is one of the things I find hardest to buy.
The Force Awakens was driven by a quest to find a map which would, in turn, reveal the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. Having TROS be, essentially, the same quest all over again, only this time to find the whereabouts of a hidden Emperor Palpatine is just too convenient and too clumsy.
(It ain't that poetic, and it's a pretty lousy rhyme, before anyone quotes Lucas's mantra...)

Throw the Sith dagger stuff into the mix, and something seems off to me.
A mission to find an old Sith relic seems - to me - like a very un-Star Wars thing, in terms of the movies, at least. Something just doesn't sit right, and a dagger with an inscription which holds the key to revealing a secret seems like a really cheesy idea to me. I mean, it works with stuff like Indiana Jones, but it doens't seem right for a galaxy far, far away.
Like, if ever the Sith were ever in the kitchen chopping some onions and forgot where the device which would become important as a plot McGuffin many centuries down the line was, they would make sure the knife they were using always had a handy hint inscribed on it for such occasions? Rather than, you know, just having it written down or stored somewhere?
It makes no sense to me.

So Vader and Palaptine each had these devices which help them locate a hidden region of space (devices which were never used or referenced in the events spanning eight movies so far) and some ancient Sith weapons conveniently have inscriptions which explain the whereabouts of Vader and Palpatine's devices.
Why would they have these inscriptions?
HOW could they have these inscriptions?
That part of the plot makes no sense.

Then there is "The Oracle" part of the leaks, which it is now claimed has been dropped.
If there is truth in any of these rumours, I can imagine they may have toyed with several different McGuffins and methods of getting our characters from A to B, but I doubt they have resolved the narrative issues by retaining any combination of more than one of these gimmicks.
In other words, I doubt they would make it so messy as to have a quest to find a man, who leads to a ship, which leads to a dagger, which presents a puzzle which when solved leads to a device, which leads to another man who died but came back to life and wants to be killed anyway to complete his goal...

The wayfinder device is what leads to Palpatine, not to find Palpatine. It has to do more with a massive fleet and the sith troopers in the unknown regions. That is what peaks Kylo's interest and is what he wants. Or so it's claimed. They aren't on an adventure to find Palpatine. Maybe the KoR tell Kylo about the fleet. Because supposedly they themselves went to the unknown regions.

The point is C3P0 has a memory recall, then leads to the wayfinder device, by using the wayfinder device it leads to all of this that basically unleashes Palpatine's power in which they have to defeat. They aren't searching for him. It just takes them to him.

If this is in fact the way it all goes. But Palpatine will be surprising them. They don't know they are on their way to a...trap.

But we'll see what happens when December comes.

The leaks are pretty flimsy on details overall but ESPECIALLY relating to characters not named Rey, Kylo, or Palpatine. There is more about C3P0 in the Paxis leak than Finn and Jannah.

Yeah, I meant from the audience's POV, not the characters in the movie.
I know they aren't looking for Palpatine, I meant the story is essentially about finding a thing that helps locate another thing, the purpose of which is to reveal the location of some more things...
I appreciate you could probably reduce every story down to such simple building blocks in this way, but in most cases the "things" are events or some kind of acquired knowledge earned through our protagonist's experiences - something satisfying and rewarding for the audience. Here (if the leaks are true) these plot elements are literally just objects... which lead to other objects or locations, which is a pretty dull way of telling a story.
    --- Double Post Merged, Oct 13, 2019, Original Post Date: Oct 13, 2019 ---
The Vanity Fair caption that went with the picture reads: "Finn and new ally Jannah (Naomi Ackie), atop hardy orbaks, lead the charge against the mechanized forces of the First Order."
Leaked pages from the Ultimate Star Wars book, which has Episode IX content, describe Jannah as: "A fierce and principled freedom fighter from Kef Bir. She leads a tribe of brave and noble warriors on an ocean moon. Her skills with an energy bow are second to none and her bravery and athleticism in battle are legendary."

"Ocean moon", you would have to presume, is a reasonable description of the location of the Death Star wreckage seen in the teaser trailer, and the location also seems consistent with both the Vanity Fair image above, and the environment in the leaked shooting pics of Naomi Ackie and the rest of the cast from the start of the year:
    #FLXWUUU.jpg #EP9-FF-000002.jpg #Star-Wars-9-set-photos-show-Naomi-Ackie-s-new-character-1480681.jpg #IX_09.jpg

The latest Paxis synopsis suggests Finn and Jannah ride the orbaks during an assault on General Pryde's Star Destroyer (something which makes absolutely no sense at all if you ask me...)
"I’m told that this assault has the feel of a 'D-Day style landing' using the creatures Jannah has been seen riding in promo photos against Sith troopers. The troopers allegedly put up a fight, but the good guys eventually win, knocking out the tower." - Paxis story synopsis V3.0

So, my own personal interpretation is that the ocean moon with the Death Star remains is actually called Kef Bir, rather than being Endor itself (always a gas giant in the old canon), or the forest moon from ROTJ (Endor had nine moons in the old canon).
The image probably depicts Jannah's tribe teaming up with the Resistance to take on the First Order on Kef Bir.
Taking into account the recent leak of the new Topp's trading card titles (and presuming the TROS cards are in chronological order, which appears to be the case) I would take a guess that the second to last card, "Friend of the Resistance", probably refers to Jannah.
It's not a great leap, therefore, to presume Jannah appears fairly late on in the movie, teaming up with the Resistance in the third act, which is roughly where most of the leaks put her too.

Just read JP's "update" If its to be believed :)rolleyes:) It makes more sense from a storytelling perspective than the first. Still ZERO on Rose which I think in context is important to the Resistance logistically and the story thread that includes Finn and her. The cuts and reshoots in this update reflect a more simplified and streamlined narrative that will play better to a general audience of mostly casual fans so overall more believable. If you first prescribe that they are right about ANY of this. Only about 2 months left we shall see...I also might add I like (not love) this story but it strikes a safe but edgy enough middle ground that its more original than TFA but not as derivative or self effacing as TLJ that it will probably create the right balance for the franchise to rebound with the fandom overall....again if this in any way resembles what the actual movie is.

So basically a star-map like in KOTOR and the map to Luke in TFA.

Either that or, as one of the MSW reports had it, more like a device which is required to navigate a particularly dangerous region of space safely...

I hope it leads Rey and company to Korriban, and there in the Tombs of the Sith Lords she finds Sith Ghosts, and has to face Dark Rey as a test.

For people that keep talking about the Sith Troopers being under Palpatine's control from the unknown regions, that isn't their role.

"The First Order's most powerful soldiers." That would've been really cool though. The Sith Troopers exist because hardly any of TLJ toys sold, so they recalled the regular storm trooper figures and spray painted them red for TROS.

If they're part of the Sith fleet they were under under his control before joining the First Order. This likely happens early in the film and they would be the First Order's most powerful soldiers.
I've mentioned this several times, but I guess I'll say it again. This is how leaks work. They're going to leak the big details and in this story the center of it is Rey/Kylo/Palpatine. The rest of the cast will have things to do, but it's unlikely you'll get a blow by blow synopsis unless someone is killed off.

I HAVE SAID THE SAME THING. However..these "updates" have managed to give slightly more details to nearly every other character involved in the story and still zero on Rose (even something on Maz Kanata) her exclusion is just weird. She could be barely in the movie and therefore not factoring in leaks but Maz is motion capture character and surely barely in the movie but even she made leak.
