    It doesn't matter. That's the point. That's the very essence of the film's theme. Legacy isn't important. It doesn't define you. It doesn't make you special. YOU make you special. Is the world that cynical and hateful that a huge group of people either don't understand or care for that theme?

    I love the theme. I think for a lot of folks, they would have accepted her better if she was the offspring of their hero though.

    We will never find out. She's just Rey. Learning her real surname puts the emphasis back on where she came from. It would be a step back in her character development for me.

    At this point she has accepted who she is, I don't think there is any need to dig any deeper. Her character doesn't need it. Focus on going forward and seeing what her future holds, her past is no longer relevant.
