if Kylo Ren "destroyed" Ben for being weak and foolish like his father--yet without actually literally killing him, then Luke can destroy Kylo Ren and leave Ben alone.

Yeah, I don't think it exists. What I can piece together is that Lucas may have had Rey as a Solo, but he was clear that Luke didn't marry.

Screw the Jedi code anyway. Some people on this forum are bizarrely attached to the forbidding of attachment - and very little else of the code. If* Luke wants to build a new Jedi order he'll need a new code, one that suits the times, not that pile of ossified orthodoxy that lead to the Jedi's destruction and the victory of the Sith. And lets face it, we don't know how long that version of the code has been around.

that would be the worst, I'm fairly certain, it won't happen. so other than that. For about five minutes I would laugh my ass off if the films
1. were all about midichlorians
2. Jar Jar shows up and kills Luke, Kylo, and snoke and cuts the movie to black after ten minutes.

the hatred some people have of the prequels makes me want to play them on infinite repeat just for laughs. They were not great movies, not as good as they should have been, but they are not giant grasshoppers destroying buildings bad either.

after 5 minutes and I stopped laughing I would never watch the movie or star Wars again.

on a serious note, I want the director to be true to who he is as a filmmaker. Make a unique star wars film, from a unique perspective. Don't be afraid to cut some of the story tools that star wars is famous for. You can become trapped by constantly feeling the need to conform to wipes, the opening crawl. Give me a good story that is unique.

I agree on Finn being related to Lando, and in particular, iffy with Rey. To many times Star Wars forgets there is probably more than 999,999,999,999,999 people in this galaxy, including alien races. They can't all be related to each other.

You know what? I'm on the same page. I don't actually care anymore who she is. Hope they just tell us. Whatever her origins, some fans will go mad, some fans will be happy. They won't be able to please everyone.

For me the worst that could happen is that they continue to kill off our OT heroes just so they can make way for the new characters. I greatly disliked what they did with Han and I really hope that we don't have to see Luke, Leia or Chewie get offed in the same way.

 

I might be pointing to a detail amongst the overall scheme of things, but I'm DYING to see some known or even not expected FORCE GHOSTS. I'd be very disappointed if I didn't see any force ghosts, or if those three figures at the end of ROTJ had no impact at all in the subsequent storyline. For me, that is a good way to add all the trilogy together, and if they just put that aside... I'd be disappointed.

 

I think you are confusing how you want the story to be with what we know about the story. We have some idea what the story group thinks about certain things. That group's thinking is largely influenced by what Lucas thought. Sure, Luke could have a bastard child. The story group could choose to go in that direction to avoid Luke getting married. If so, I'm inclined to believe that Luke is a terrible person and the galaxy would be better off if the Skywalkers were gone.

This will be interesting to watch. It's rumored that Yoda makes an appearance in the film. Force Ghosts are a potential marketing headache for Disney because China might block the movie's release if they include ghosts.

That was something Gene Siskel infers back in 1983. Not a definitive plan for Rey or an insight into Lucas' thinking at the time or 25 years later.

 

Hamill doesn't deny it though. Lucas said when he wrote his outlines for the ST, he went back to his notebook from the 1980s that had a few pages of his ST ideas. If he was tossing around this idea back then, chances are it was kept by him, and then by Lucasfilm. Kathleen Kennedy did say that despite rejecting his outline, they are still keeping some of his ideas from them .

A young woman's journey to becoming a Jedi was the main part of the narrative they used from Lucas. Everything else is speculation.

 

The traditional heroes journey is not Lucas's, if thats what you mean by "they used Lucas". And jj Abrams and Laurence casdan have said they rejected Lucas ideas and just wrote there own story, with obvious small influences from the extended EU.

 

Worst thing?

Rey is an expert pilot, mechanical genius, force sensitive, desert dwelling loner, who is called by the Skywalker lightsaber, defeats Kylo Ren with no training, and ends up piloting the Millennium Falcon...

...revealed to be the random kid of some imperial workers or something. Who Luke killed or something.

That will be a complete waste of her character, and the ultimate Mary Sue, Fembusters reboot, Grrrll power nonsense.

I'll take Anakin reincarnate, Palps clone, Kenobi niece over that any day of the week.
