    I'm sure I can find a better Kylo-in-the-snow-picture! ;) I've been inundated with gifs and pics today--is TFA available for download today somewhere in the world? Half of these are probably "borrowed" from some poor hardworking tumblr site owner... In any case, I'm having trouble concentrating on RL work today for some reason! :rolleyes:

    they somehow got Kylo to look younger than he is in real life. I wonder if this was intended so that they can show time pass quicker?

    i think they did it to make him really vulnerable-looking and disarming when he takes off the mask.
    i suspect even without time passing between TFA and viii, he'll look a lot harder in the next movie.
    probably one of the reasons Abrams wanted Adam Driver ~ he can play big and scary, but also small and scared.

    i agree i dont think when they meet they reconize each other and I dont think they knew each other long.... the force is trying to tell Rey who he is she does not get it yet --- at the end of the book he knows its her. not sure about the movie --- the scene where he looses his temper tells me he knows somethng of a girl connection on Jakku ---- so I think he knows or suspect she was left there ...... not sure if he did it though. maybe

    yes it was you are right. I think they pulled it because she would not have known who they were ....not sure of the importance of that but it starts with VAders heavy breathing perhaps to tell her Vaders confession , also it is the location where the light saber was lost. It could showing her Lukes failure at the moment.

    oh good! something to get back on track with (sorta ~ hahaha)

    i think the scene with Mitaka is the most ambiguous of all. we know from Kennedy (i believe) that he's specifically pitching a fit about Finn because he let Finn go at the beginning of the hunt.

    is he really specifically more concerned about the girl?
    because she's a girl from Jakku? because he knew a girl once? because he senses that this girl is a bigger part of things (whether he knew her or not?).
    or has he just had it with Mitaka's wibbling and this is the last straw?

    by the time he catches Rey on Takodana, he's kinda not impressed at first. she's interesting, but maybe not what he expected.

    i honestly feel like if he had cause to connect a girl from his past to this girl, he'd be trying a little harder. i dunno. it's the disconnect that's made me doubt that they ever knew one another, though i guess i haven't ruled it entirely out because of the dreams/visions.

    ...meanwhile: twirling. it's just sorta mesmerizing.

    in the snow scene i am 110% positive it is him hiding her from battle . He used the same term his father uses he called her sweetheart. go back to Empire Strikes back and listen to Han it is something a son would pick up listening to his father talking to his mother/girls. Remember Lawrence was involved in the writing of tfa as he was in Empire . I do not think she ever knows who he is in TFA. and I think only at the very end he knows it is her. but that is not clear in the movie. But it is clear in the book he does only at the end when they first meet he is not clear. They have a connection i think it was brief ...... I think she was new student and she started following him like a puppy and got under his skin.

    I think what throws him is he is not expecting a scavenger --- if he knows or expected someone strong with the force would not be a lowly scavenger ---so at first he cannot correlate it

    so what battle do you think this might be then? that's the 10 million dollar question.
    if Rey is a small child and he's hiding her, where are they and who's fighting?
    he's only a teenager himself at this point.

    That is a good question. WE have to assume a few things and may not be right. it has to be the academy that is a fact. But clearly he is not acting alone that is a fact. Since the battle is going on in the distance and he is not in it . But the question becomes how many students where there? if Luke was the only master there it could not be many. So is it Luke fighting Troopers and they are trying to take the students?. Or did the students side with Ben? and that is how we get our Knights of Ren. Maybe she was the only really young one and that is why he hid her. He was afraid someone would kill her. Another question to ask. Why at that point in time to destroy it. Ben was with Luke for about 6 years or more. Why not destroy what he was doing sooner. Or is the problem really her and Snoke found out who she was and being a new student decided to act and she was the objective. By burning the temple Ben could of said he killed her in the temple. I am not saying I am supporting this only the two facts at the beginning. I think her isolation was to hid from her from someone. not sure she was met to turn into a scavenger.

    I like this point, @Winterstar, because the way Kylo says, "You--a scavenger," with such scorn...well, to me that says Kylo can't know who Rey is.

    I gave up on the Kylo-knew-Rey-before theory awhile ago, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. ;)

    No they knew each other probably not for long a few weeks or months i suspect. When he is saying that he is also trying to convince himself that she is not worthy . you are right he is not sure at that point who she is he does not know . but he knows something does not feel right. in fact in the book after he says that he changes the subject to possibly spare her feelings. he knows he hurt them. He is starting to feel compassion for her and he does not like it.

    i just don't think the timeline supports this scene coinciding with the destruction of Luke's school.
    Ben is too young (like i said, he's only about 15 years old), and we have a pretty clear determination that whatever Ben did to Luke only happened about 6 years ago (when he was at least 23ish). it's possible he left Luke as Ben and came back as Kylo Ren, but it took him 8 years to do it if this was the departure point.

    so, really, we have to account for what everyone was doing for the 8 years in between the time that Rey got left on Jakku and when Luke left for Ach-To (and why).
    then we have to account for the subsequent 6 years while Luke was gone, Rey was struggling in the desert, and Kylo Ren was aligning with the FO.
