Where will TFA Ep.7 rank among Star Wars feature films?

  1. 1- Best Star Wars Episode yet made

  2. 2- One of the best but nothing beats the classics

  3. 3- Solid, faith restored.

  4. 4- Meh.

  5. 5- People stop talking prequel criticism and start talking sequel criticism

  6. 6- Forgettable

  7. 7- Lucas hate ends and J.J. hate begins...

People have to see the movie more then once. It really is great and Kylo Ren is probably the greatest Star Wars villain I've seen. Ridley and driver really were brilliant, even more so the second time you watch.

Third place for me. Better than ROTJ but too much retread to beat the two great Star Wars classics.

My favorite was always ANH (not ESB).
    Probably my ranking is...

    ANH
    ESB TFA (tie)
    ROTS
    ROTJ
    TPM
    AOTC

As time goes on, I might be willing to place TFA higher, but I'm not sure if I'll like TFA more or less with time.
ESB has an outstanding soundtrack; far and away the best soundtrack of any Star Wars movie.
TFA's soundtrack is arguably the weakest of the Star Wars movies.
TFA moves a bit fast (though this impression is starting to disappear with multiple viewings now), and ESB suffers from the exact opposite problem; moving too slow.

TFA *might* be better, in and of itself, than ESB.
I have to give it time...
So far, I am liking TFA more with multiple viewings (the opposite happened with TPM and AOTC).

    BTW:
ROTS > ROTJ for me because while I like Jabba's palace and Luke vs Vader & Palpatine, I really, really, really don't like the Ewoks and don't find the rest of the action to be too compelling. IMHO, Harrison phones it in on ROTJ. ...on the other hand, Harrison delivers his best performance as Han (at least on par with ESB and ANH) in TFA.

Also, ROTS is actually a pretty good movie. Ian McDiarmid is delightful.

Still trying to absorb. Solid third after ANH and ESB. I thoroughly enjoyed this film which was something I could not say about the prequels. Jedi and the prequels were disappointing for me, Jedi always felt like a film Lucas felt he had to do vs. wanted to do if that makes sense.

Growing up with OT ...I also hoped the sequels ( prequels) would be more "adult"....even more innovative....but I think the SW universe has become so engrained in our culture / mainstream that it can't stray to far off the main road...

I actually enjoy watching the fan made films and trailers that are darker more "adult".....and with SW now evolving into what it is......it could mean the evolution of fan made films....or indie films becoming even more relevant.

the imagination is what makes SW special......no one will ever take that away.

    on topic....

    1.ESB
    2.ROTJ
    3.ANH
    4.ROTS
    5.TFA
    6.AOTC
    7.TPM

TFA is not a real Star Wars film.

It's counterfeit....comparing it to any of George's legitimate films is a waste of time.

Just like comparing a cubic zirconia to a flawless diamond would be a waste of time.

My ranking pretty much straight after seeing it on Thursday:
    1: TESB
    2: ANH
    3: TFA
    4: ROTJ
    5: ROTS
    6: AOTC
    7: TPM

Although, it may be on a par with ANH, I'd still probably put it 3rd due to ANH being the original.

I can't compare it to Lucas work in pure terms of STAR WARS, it's to different to my view, but TFA is quite comparable to JJ Abrams other projects. I was one of the few who really did like his Star Trek and Mission Impossible take and i would rank TFA behind Star Trek(2009).
For the record, I'm happy with people loving TFA to death. It isn't a bad movie. Celebrate it and have fun, I hope I'll be able to experience the same when Rogue one hits or episode VIII.
Just comparing the movies for the execution skills, without taking the STAR WARS context route, TFA is far better than any prequel and even better than ROTJ

+ Empire strikes back (I don't think any SW movie can be as good as this one)
+ The force awakens (Amzing Villain, amazing protagonists, amazing acting, amazing everything)
+ Revenge of the Sith (this one is quiet tricky, if you haven't watched TCW, then this movie wouldn't rank this high. I knew every single one of the Jedi and they made the clones REAL PEOPLE WITH FEELINGS. Heck, even Anakin was way more likeable in CW!)
+ Return of the Jedi ( The ewoks sucked but the scenes in the Throne room were amazingggg)
+ A new hope (Don't get me wrong, I love this movie. The heroes were amazing, but the villains weren't much of characters. Vader was just the big scary guy who's bad... and that's it.)
So, all these five movies are great, but then I and II happend
+ The Phantom menace ( Darth Maul was great and it didn't have a dumb romance)
+ Attack of the clones (this movie was AWFUL the only redeeming factor was Anakin slaugthering the jawas. And Ewan is good Obi-Wan)
