I think it's going to end up being an everge rating of around 55% .

That would be a pretty steep drop, but still higher than Ghostbusters 2 which is at 50%. I think it will settle in the low-mid 60's. There will be a bunch of fanboy sites that will go in with their minds made up to give it a rotten regardless of quality. They likely won't be in the first wave of reviews since they wouldn't get invites to the press screenings. I would guess those will make it drop significantly next weekend.

Half? I mean they drop. But if they dropped by half, TFA would be hovering under 50%.

It's all pointless anyway. My philosophy is as always, find 4-5 critics who share your tastes and read them. It's all so subjective, that any aggregate site like RT will never really help with anything except the universally positive and the universally negative movies. But it's still fun to watch the trends and the and the popular sentiment of critics vs. general audiences vs. fans and the inevitable backlash when they don't agree.

Keep in mind that a blockbuster flick typically gets around 200 reviews, and the top critics hate the movie. Thus far, the responses for audience reception on RT is pretty bad overall.

In any case, I don't really use RT as a measure to actually gauge whether or not I'll like a movie, considering a lot of my favorites are listed as being "Rotten" there.

    Curious...

Only 46% of the top critics are giving Ghostbusters a fresh rating. The rest? 87% fresh.

Well, unlike TFA, Ghostbusters is a hard reboot. So, yeah, its naturally going to have more rehash than a soft reboot.

Are you referencing critical or audience review? I was kinda thinking today that we might get a BvS style split on this only in reverse.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 11, 2016 ---
Actually it's more like 65%.. Generally you're doing great if your less than that. 69-75 is your nose dive movies a la BvS.
At least that's what I've learned from listening to Midnight's Edge over on YT.

Depends.. The Matrix on RT has a 68/87 Top/All critic score with an 85 audience score. IMDB gives the film an 8.7 and is ranked #18 in their Top250. Metacritic gives it a 73.
Which number do you think accurately represents The Matrix?
Here's another example.. TFA currently sits at 92% All critics. On March 7th, it was 93% All critics. Since that March screenshot I have preserved on a certain thread here, TFA has received 21 more 'pro' reviews into it's aggregation of TFA: 18 positive reviews and three negative reviews. Those three negative reviews not only cancelled out the eighteen positve reviews, but also canceled out additional positve reviews made prior to March 7th to bring the score down.
Why? Because RT scores will always give favor to any review that will push a film in direction to 50% irregardless of what side of 50 they are on. The algorithm wants to push good movies down and puff bad moviies up.
And FYE: TFA metacritc is 81. IMDB is 8.2. So according to Metacritic, TFA is a superior film to Matrix. And IMDB thinks Matrix is a superior film to TFA. Which one is right?
Now IMDB uses a weighed average system with proprietary 'safeguards' to prevent bot manipulation by hackers. IMDB's score is an exclusive one sampling it's membership. IMDB is sampling ~600K people accross a 1-10 scale and RT is sampling ~200K people across a 1-5 star scale. Anything that, translated to IMDBs system, rates a 7 or higher is considered "audience approval" by RT. Knowing that, we can do some math and reverse engineer IMDB's number into an RT score:
    "7s" 70979 + "8s" 126615 + "9s" 141109 + "10s" 145089=483792
Total vote on IMDB is 552333 to which 483792 is.. *drumroll*.............87.6%. We'll just say 87%
    TFA RT Audience Score: 89%
    TFA IMDB Audience Score: 87%
So we have two scores, one of which has a sample size three times larger, and we still get identical scores. (keeping in mind that even the best polling has a 2-3% margin of error)
Let's do the same thing with The Matrix:
    113275 + 257041 + 364260 + 380987=1115563
    Total IMDB Vote: 1207815
    Matrix IMDB Audience Score: 92%
    Matrix RT Audience Score: 85%
Mind that in this case RT has the bigger sample: over 33 million.

btw 87.6 rounds up to 88.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jul 11, 2016 ---
and RT's sample is bigger because it's more crowdsourced with a bigger datasbase of people that aren't a n average consumer .

Oh, dear, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to talk about IMDB in the same convo as RT..:p
And I'm rounding down those scores because that's what RT does with it's scores.
So I am to take it that there's about 32 million not-so-average consumers out there.. and they all somehow made their way to RT to vote on The Matrix..

    Indeed you are..
Here's something interesting.. been parsing the IMDB data on Ghostbusters from the early ratings.
IMDB is giving it a 5.1
These are the ratings by age groups and gender:
    M under18: 5.9
    F under18: 1.0

    M 18-29: 5.9
    F 18-29: 6.3

    M 30-44: 4.7
    F 30-44: 6.1

    M 45+: 5.4
    F 45+: 3.6
