SPECULATION Will we see Finn's awakening in the Force?

Star Wars has never been "about one person." It's an ensemble. Even Luke and Anakin had to share a whole lot of time with other characters. In ESB Luke is probably only in 45% of the movie compared to Han and Leia because of the nature of the story. And Finn is a little more prominent than Han and Leia was and is in the dead center of the conflict.

Other characters are going to have to accomplish something, especially where Rey is at the moment, and it will be a bad story if we just follow her for the sake of following her when other important crap is happening elsewhere in the galaxy.

Plus their are 6 other Knights of Ren, Hux, Phasma, whoever del Toro is playing if not one of these characters, and the entirety of the FO. This idea that only Rey can handle all these people by doing Rocky montages on an remote island is bad writing waiting to happen.

You want Rey to train with Luke on one hand, but you want her driving every part of the story on the other.

It ain't gonna work. She can only be at one place at a time.

 

I'd love for Finn's awakening scene to be a situation in which Poe and others are in the room talking about whether he's going to come out of the coma. It seems unlikely to everyone, but then things start flying around the room and Finn is thrashing in his bed. At which point he has a literal and figurative awakening of his own.

 

I think ultimately Finn is indeed force sensitive, but i think his role in the new trilogy will be guided towards more of a lion heart type character. Willing to jump into the heat of battle with whatever weapon is available, with the force as his guide. Though just because he can pick up and wield a light saber, does not mean he's automatically mastered it. Being able to use a weapon to some degree of efficiency, but not mastered (i.e., jedi knight level skill set).

 

I honestly feel that with Finn nothing is set in stone and Rian Johnson will get decide if Finn is a Jedi or not

 

I agree. What I find interesting, be he FS or not, is that nothing is for sure about Finn. With Rey it's pretty clear she'll be a Jedi and 9 times out of 10 a Skywalker. Finn is an open book though. Theories of him leading Resistance fighters or planning strategies seem too cut and dry for his character while theories of him being FS seem to be shooting for the moon. When you think about it we really don't have many clues as to what he can do or what he will do. Him only being good for having knowledge on the First Order is pretty crappy in the long run because eventually he'll hit a wall on how much he knows. If he simply joins the Resistance then he's basically a Poe that can't fly. I see people saying that giving him anything else would cloud Rey's role which means it won't happen but Obi-wan didn't diminish Anakin's role in the PT and he did more than sit around in the council chamber debating. I know that the marketing of him was a red herring meant to hide Rey being the Jedi and I hate to bring race into things but if all of that selling and hyping up they did for him does not pan out in the next two movies then KK and JJ will be doing to young black fans of sci-fi the very thing they did not want to see done to young female sci-fi fans. Thinking about it though it wouldn't just be young black fans but possibly black sci-fi fans in general who are tired of seeing black characters given simplistic, comic relief side kick roles only good for laughs and falling around. For this very reason I don't think KK and the rest of the people behind these movies plan to just give Finn the role of a turncoat especially considering that "the stormtrooper that switched sides but that's it" isn't much in the face of "a female protagonist that's a Jedi"

Honestly i hope everybody would be Force Sensitive or a Force User of some kind.

I think we already saw him awaken, I think his display of FS powers won't come til he has to save rey. Think ESB where instead of luke flying to save his friends you get finn mounting a rescue mission for rey. Maybe even something like finding out she is walking into a KOR trap.

 

I didn´t vote - there is no option Finn is no Force sensitive.

Nothing in TFA points to the fact that Finn is force sensitive. Only Rey is force sensitive.

i think people thought he would be because of the promos, but this is between Rey and Kylo Ren. Finn is Han Solo to Rey's Luke.

 

If I may guess - no admiral - the guy isn´t pilot. He would be field officer, possibly tactics commander. Perhaps a scout or explorer - they may send him to secret missions...

Finn doesn't has to be a force sensitive to be a great warrior, he will be one for sure. There will be his moment and this time he might be the one who save Rey before Kylo Ren killed her. But this time he wouldn't survive. Episode VIII has to end with the redemption of the Dark side. However, I don't want him or Luke to die in Episode VIII, but someone might.

 

There is no time nor room in the trilogy to throw in ANOTHER Force sensitive character arc.

That's really all it comes down to.

 

Will we see Finn's awakening in the force, I hope he his destiny is awakened in episode 8
