I get why people would think it's corny. The ewoks are a little silly, but my nostalgia and my children allow me to just enjoy them. But the stuff between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor - that stuff is the absolute emotional highlight of the entire saga. Especially now that I am older, seeing Luke not give up on his father and ultimately throwing his saber away is just so powerful. It gets me every time!

Well, I've had a few days to digest it so here goes:

    • The Empire Strikes Back
    • The Last Jedi
    • A New Hope
    • Return of the Jedi
    • Rogue One
    • The Force Awakens
    • Revenge of the Sith
    • The Phantom Menace
    • Attack of the Clones

Side Note: In spite of the fact that I just ranked these films, I still love them all like the fanboy I am. :p

How!? How can anybody put TLJ first!? People say RJ wanted to burn the foundation down? All he did was burn bridges to several branches of the fan base.

Such a long way from here.

Yoda's death scene to this day remains my favorite Star Wars scene out of any film. It plays around with so many themes; some that get their culmination at the end of Episode VI; and some that only reach fruition in Episode VIII. It is also one of the moments where Lucas' specific kind of dialogue is at its finest.

How could I forget Yoda's death?!? The internet, even Star Wars fans like to bully RotJ but it has a surprising emotional depth.

I have revised my list on seeing TLJ again.

    So......

    1) TLJ, SW 10, SW 11, SW 12 (all joint first....definatly the best) Genius !

    5)The prequels (in any order)
    6) Return of the Jedi
    7) Empire strikes back
    8) A New hope (That was the worse one...all that darth Vadar, Jedi and Luke skywalker business was a bit distracting.)

Rian said I can't include other disney films like Rogue One, The Force awakens and SW 9 because they were not done by him..

Except with Leia, they turn that around and have her choke Jabba with a chain so it ultimately works. I love the Jabba rescue, it’s about friendship and shows Luke’s growth into adulthood. Yes, the movie sags a bit in the middle with the C3p0 story time but the opening and finale are terrific. And the movie forces you to examine Darth Vader, which makes you reassess the entire saga.

    Empire
    A New Hope
    Return of the Jedi/Rogue One
    The Force Awakens
    Revenge of the Sith
The Last Jedi/Attack of the Clones
    The Phantom Menace

Edited to add: The Phantom Menace is the closest thing in this list to "a bad film" for me, but even it left me excited and is really only bad in my opinion "as a Star Wars film." Every one of these movies holds a lot of value for me. The Last Jedi left me the least excited by far after seeing it (both first and second viewings), but I recognize that it is in my opinion a better film than The Phantom Menace, and *possibly* Attack of the Clones.

Nothing against Porgs or a diss against TLJ but people don’t realize that the Ewoks were actually integrated into the story whereas in TLJ, the Porgs are there just because

    1. TLJ (after much much consideration, it has happened, there is a movie, in my opinion, that is superior to Empire. There is a moment of about 20 seconds which I don't really like...and that's it)

    2. ESB (my first and most viewed Star Wars movie. I can dream this one. Never liked the part where the falcon is hiding though and you could see Lando's betrayal coming from 10 miles away)

    3. TFA (the movie that hits every nerve on the emotional register of a Star Wars fan. Also incredibly well-made. The story, on the surface though, can be a bit simple)

    4. ANH (I love it, though I did experience myself falling asleep during some viewings. I am quite ashamed. I can't really judge this one objectively. It hasn't aged very well and should probably be lower on my list, but I still love it)

    5. ROTJ (I usually fall asleep during the Jabba's palace sequences, but then I am quickly awakened by that awesome sail barge sequence. The rest what follows is awesome. Though I can remember I thought the ewoks were a massive disappointment. I still think that way, but can appreciate them. The acting is sometimes a bit off and lazy)

    6. RO (really dropping on my list since my first viewing. The only movie which, in my opinion, adds absolutely nothing. Its a nice movie. At some points very good. It tries to be a star wars movie and a war movie which causes quite a few problems)

----we are all quite familiar with the prequels, but I've decided not to reiterate those but remain a bit more positive----

    7. ROTS (The movie has a few awesome scenes)
    8. TPM (not that bad really in act III. Anakin's scenes with his mother and Qui Gon are lovely)
    9. AOTC (I really love act III and Anakin's scenes on Tatooine)

All in all, I love all the Star Wars movies, but some more than others. May the force be with you!

Note that I don't out right hate any of the Star Wars movies as I think there are things to be enjoyed in all of 'em. Also note that I frequently change my rankings, so I'll probably already change my mind by next week!

    1. ESB
    2. ROTS (I feel this one is pretty underrated.)
    3. TLJ (May move up or down after a couple more viewings)
    4. ANH
    5. ROTJ
    6. TFA
    7. RO

    ...

    8. AOTC (worse movie than TPM, but more enjoyable IMO)
    9. TPM
    10. TCW movie (awful start to a great show)

But definitely The Last Jedi would be last if we include the fact that the massacre and mindfucking stupidity of what they did to Luke is factored in. Otherwise I put Attack of the Clones as being marginally better. Otherwise TLJ by far last.

I thought TLJ was on my top 3 after the first viewing, but after A LOT of thinking and another viewing, I think it might be my new favorite. I don't want to offend anyone that dislike it, and I am sorry for those who did. I see a lot of different rankings here, and I am not saying anyone are wrong for not ranking them the same as me. TLJ's rank can change too, It has only been 5 days after all.

    1. The Last Jedi
    2. Return of the Jedi
    3. The Empire Strikes Back
    4. A New Hope
    5. The Force Awakens
    6. Rogue One

    9. Attack of the Clones.

Jabba's palace was just ok, I already said that everything concerning Luke, Vader and the Emperor is what keeps the movie, but please, everything that happens on Endor is way more childish than everything Disney is accused of doing in the ST... Teddybears destroying walkers with trees and forest traps?? C3PO playing god?? The Empire having a new super weapon that still has that one flaw that can get it blown up?
