You should give Harry Potter a chance, it's not so bad.

Not trying to change anyone’s mind here. Trust me I was a big defender of TFA here 2 years ago and there were people that didn’t like the movie so it happens as nobody is always going to agree.

I’m not using hyperbole is TLJ is a bad film to many here. Right now it sits at 56% on Rotten Tomatoes among the fans so it’s evenly split. What’s interesting is that is a lower score then all 3 PT films and those movies divided the fanbase too. Get used to it as this movie has polarized the fanbase.

The Star Wars galaxy became that much smaller with this movie. All the talk is about two or three people. Which leaves everyone else out, and then people wonder why the movie suffered. Trying to make everyone care about the same characters is a turn off.

That "audience score" on RT is meaningless. It's a good measure of faux outrage, but it's not a scientific measure of what audiences think of the film. The Cinemascore is a scientific score of what audiences think and it's the same as RO and TFA. I don't doubt same fans really don't like the film. There were some that didn't like TFA.

What difference does it make? This is the first Star Wars movie I won't see, and it's because of how they marketed it. We have a galaxy, but we are only going to focus on just a few people while everyone else falls in line with their decisions. Not only is it arrogant, but it's also mentally lazy.

I have no idea what you're talking about or why you're wasting your time here discussing a film you're not going to see.

I agree with this sentiment at least. I didn't like it but I made sure to give it a good chance before critiquing it.

Yeah, the Jedi are failures, the Sith had a point.

Let's let Rey start a school for something new where Jedi and Sith can be brought together to learn that balance is greatness.

"But the Sith killed unarmed children and decapitated them one by one while the others, waiting their turn, watched their still living heads fall to the ground in shock gasping for air because the light saber's heat cauterized the wound causing intracranial blood pressure not to fall low enough to cause loss of consciousness for atleast 20-30 seconds."

    Oh right.

Kylo and Snoke never considered themselves Sith btw.

    Spoiler territory now.

Kylo even lists them in his "kill the past" speech to Rey. In that moment he's making an offer to her to leave the incompetent Jedi and Sith behind the galaxies history, as their mentors and pasts have failed them both (her parents with her, and Luke trying to kill him.

So if she does open a school, it's more like the dark side of today than the Sith of the past as balance.

I disagree as TLJ is a lot more divisive movie among my friends/family/coworkers then TFA and R1. Most everyone I know liked TFA and R1 to some degree. I have friends that liked TLJ and friends that absolutely hate it, so the 57% Rotten Tomato rating makes sense as it illustrates a fanbase evenly divided. I never saw this much negativity on this site for TFA or R1.

Understandable. Disney are targeting new blood. Old fans aren't focus of ST.

I have no problem with that and let me say as OT fan who grew up with the movies, I love the new characters.

But I think Disney miscalculated bringing back Luke, Leia and Han and giving them new arcs. Once you change a beloved character, you risk alienating some fans.

I have always said Luke, Leia and Han should have had ceremonial roles in Episode 7 as they pass the torch to Rey, Finn and Poe so you can give the old fans a touch of nostalgia. Then Episode 8 and 9 are only about the new characters and they are free to take the story wherever they want.

By putting Hermit Luke in this movie, or divorced Han/Leia you are going to piss some fans off and it overshadow the point of the ST: it’s about Rey and Kylo Ren. Yes the OT characters may have helped the Box office for Episode 7 and 8, but now you have this divided fanbase andin hindsight this was the wrong approach.

Agree on that point, to a certain extent. Of course everything is not going to be free and happy like we want if they continued story of OT characters, but it's like they had a meeting and said "let's see how dark and edgy we can make this!" And kill off people!

I agree. They almost wanted to change them so much just so it would contrast the OT. But again, by doing this the Big 3 have essentially cast a shadow over the ST and the fans are judging it by Luke, Leia and Han instead of Rey, Finn, Kylo and Poe.

All people are talking about whether they like or hate Hermit Luke and how to sendoff Princess Leia in Episode 9. I think this hurt the development of Rey’s character in Episode 8 as she clearly got relegated to a secondary role in some respects when this movie should have been about her and Kylo.

Obviously Episode 9 will be their movie, but I fear it’s too late because the movie must tie everything up just like ROTJ and ROTS, so they won’t be able to develop that dynamic that this movie was meant to do.

Because I think for myself. I don't need a bunch of happy go lucky reviewers to tell me what was obvious. The complaints prove I made the right decision.

This is probably the most hilarious thing I've read in the 2 years I've been on this forum.

This person is complaining about a film they've never seen and justifying it by saying "I think for myself." LOLOLOL

There's no way this can be real. I can only assume this is a troll?

Sounds like the "Bring Back Legends" nerds have been playing with the ratings...

(Sidenote: the BBL brigade probably are the saddest gang I've ever heard of - the never-official-canon-but-usually-terrible stories are still available...)

Long live Star Wars, regardless of who does or doesn't like TLJ.
