apart from the Leia floating through space scene which was the dumbest thing i have ever seen in a movie, it was great.

I completely agree with you. I really didn't enjoy it, which it breaks my heart to say.

Yeah that scene had shifting awkwardly in my seat.

Still the movie took risks and i'm so glad they turned all the reys parents, snoke theories on its ear.

I wonder if the backlash will cause JJ and Terrio to play it more safe?

Bit early to be claiming a backlash.

No offence but a few butthurt fanboys, isn't a backlash. Lets wait until the box office comes in, especially in week 2/3

Well ..... I really enjoyed the beginning of the movie - loved Po's solo assault and the use of 3D here was superb. Sadly, I enjoyed the remainder less so. I do think it a good film but not what I wanted it to be. Its my issue in that case.

I can' believe though that, after the build up of TFA's search for Luke and his final mournful expression upon seeing his lightsaber, that his first action was to toss the sabre away for a cheap moment of comic relief. Yes, amusing it was but it abruptly broke the beautiful solemnity produced by JJ in the aforementioned final scenes of TFA.

Kudos to Rian for trying something different but the movie just did not satisfyingly continue, for me, the strands, set ups and expectations left by JJ. EG no Knights of Ren, no epic powers and fights for Luke, Rey's history amounting to zero, the big bad getting killed, how Maz obtained Luke's light sabre. I could go on and on. Rian obviously wanted to tell his own story, which is fine, but, I feel , at the expense of many things established in theTFA.

And the final scene - sweet Jesus, how banal and utterly awful. Just, why?

I NEVER thought I would EVER say this but thank goodness that JJ is returning for Episode IX.

I will have to disagree with no epic powers for Luke, especially considering he cut himself off from the Force for at least six years. He projected himself across space not just as a vision to Kylo but could create semblance of flesh and things, because Leia could feel his touch as well as Han's dice. It might not be flashy as pulling down a Star Destroyer, but it is effing powerful and we have never seen this before.

That's fair enough but just how the hell did he cut himself off from the Force? Seems like something he'd need to use the Force to achieve!

Hope not. If they’re going 50/50 on play it safe and then I’m okay with it.

I think Rian just put SW at a crossroads. Now it’s all up to JJ and Terrio.

    Overall I really enjoyed it!

Feel it’ll take a few more viewings to fully appreciate everything about it.

Biggest disappointment was Rey’s parentage but after all the speculation over the past few years I wasn’t too surprised.

I wouldn't say it's kinda of cheap...... It looks better than TFA for sure.
Yea it's a very different kind of star wars movie with lots of twists and humor.
People who like space scenes will love it because it has loads of it. Visually it's stunning though the pacing is a tad weird at times. A few scenes and side plots are unnecessary and you can feel it drags in the middle at times.
However i can say that except for your butt, you won't feel the 2 and half hours passing by.
Overall i enjoyed it and i will view it a couple more times to try to catch things i missed.

Considering he spend almost 30 years learning about the Force from various Force schools and that they now can tell those stories (not just as myths and legends), I'm sure we will get canon answer soon. But, I don't think it's that complicated. He did not stop being part of the Force (after all, he was alive), just cut or, better said, closed off his connection with a part of himself that was able to use it. That's why Rey could not feel him when she was opened to it.

I think I love it. Why think? Because I've only seen it once. Gonna see it again tonight and I think this is a movie you have to see at least twice (I'm gonna go several times).

Is it perfect? No, but IMO no movie actually is. There were some elements I did not feel was that great. The Last Jedi, anyhow, felt fresh, at the same time it marked itself as a Star Wars movie and kinda felt retro, but in a other way than The Force Awakens.

And Luke ... So cool to see him on the screen again!

I have no chance to rank it right now. I will try after my second (or third) viewing, but I have a feeling it would be high up there. Among the top three, at least.

Midway the movie I cought myself thinking how good the phantom menace was. No kidding. Snoke is such a sh*t character. No backstory at all and such a lame death. I feel like not caring for the next star wars movies at all. This is the first SW movie I will not be giving a second try. I seriously rate this movie the worst of the saga. The hope for me has died. I don't know what to do guys, send help.

The major problem for me is that we don't really care about the characters, it lacks depth. Some of them are dying and you're like : Ok I barely knew ya' ...

The whole resistance arc isn't very interesting.

Saw the midnight showing in the UK. The Leia floating in space was just terrible! As was BB8 piloting an ATST.

I think I need to see it a couple more times to get a full grasp of how I feel about it. I wasn't expecting it to be like the other movies but did I enjoy it?

    I don't know.

It effectively just killed this sequel trilogy for me.

It is bad. Really bad. It goes back to the problems with Abrams' decisions in TFA and not only compounds them but adds in even bigger problems in the process.

    They blew it.

But it will make millions because its shiny and flashy and hype.

I'll stick with the original trilogy. Couldn't be bothered with Disney Star Wars

Can't really rate the movie based upon the above choices. It wasn't good, ok or bad. The Last Jedi was a bizarre experience.

I never caught myself laughing so much at a Star Wars movie. While, a couple of years ago some of the choices would have infuriated me, this time I just did not care anymore and this might be the problem with this movie, at least for me.

Star Wars under Disney is so far removed from what Star Wars was and made it what it is today that I can't really rate the movie based upon the standard I would have for a Star Wars movie under different circumstances.

I resigned to the fact the people involved in the current Star Wars movies have major problems in understanding the material they have on many different levels. From writing, directing to design, there are issues in all departments and it transpires in a clusterf*ck where many voices want many things all at once without asking questions before implementing them.

That's all I have to say because I just don't care anymore... only thing I will say is that it took me about 30 minutes to get back into the film after seeing Leia flying through space and having the entire audience, including myself, laughing so hard at it and being shocked at the same time to a degree where I experienced a lot of scenes as it was Spaceballs.
