Maybe you should reread the title. It asks if one's opinion has changed over time, not over multiple viewings.

My opinion of the TLJ hasn't changed too much. I'm loving it more and more, and I absolutely loved it already when I'd first seen it. However, my opinion of a part of the audience has changed. I'm still a massive star wars fan, but more on a personal level. I increasingly avoid sharing my experiences or thoughts with others. Not in the real world, but definitely online.

While I can't disagree with you, it was just like this during the PT. I was a member of another SW Website during the PT days and there was a huge Civil War going on there much like the TLJ discussions. I think it's just the nature of the internet because the good thing is we all have a voice 24/7 and the bad thing is we all have a voice 24/7. In the pre-internet days, it was easier to move on from a movie you disliked, but now there is a place to keep talking about it good or bad. I think this website has sort of counter-acted the division by making specific threads to keep fans from having an all-out civil war. With specific threads like, "For those who liked the movie." or "For those who hated the movie," it atleast keeps the negative fans from taking over every thread.

I really don't like the entire PT. That said, if I had to rank it, I'd rank TLJ in the same box as the PT, but for opposite reasons. Pretty much whatever the PT did wrong, TLJ did right, but whatever the PT did right, TLJ did wrong (imo). There's a little overlap, but not much. As disappointed as was watching AotC in theaters, TLJ beat that disappointment 10 fold. I think TLJ had more right than the PT, but what it did wrong hit me where it hurts. I've never walked out of a movie feeling as crummy as I did after TLJ.

I like how this site compartemetalizes the conversations. It gives fans an avenue to discuss things, good or bad, or sometimes good and bad if you choose to wade into the controversy. For myself it has helped me see what fans who liked the movie like about it. As a fan who strongly dislikes TLJ, it's helped me understand what those fans who love it appreciate about it. Without reading and some conversations, I'd probably be making ignorant assumptions about those who like TLJ .

The OP talks about each viewing.... Maybe you should read past the headline.

The OP never specifies that multiple viewings is mandatory to comment in his thread, maybe you should not make assumptions and be more inclusive ;)

After AOTC I kind of lost interest. I kept watching the films, but there were other other films going on that we're much better.
Who said anything about mandatory? You've seen the film once. Why would your opinion change? We already know your opinion. Please, keep telling us why you don't like it. :D

My opinion could change through discussion. I'm not so close minded as to not see the validity in some arguments and others interpretations of certain things within a movie. Also, some people have backgrounds in theater which I don't have, I'm just a fan. So on that end, many conversations were educational.

As for the last part of your statement, I'm answering the OP... because he asked.

At this point we know many of our opinions pretty well. For example I know you like TLJ, and that's great. No issue with you saying you do and what you like it for. Why is it such an issue for me to do the same? Maybe the op doesn't know my opinion and yours, so why can't we both reply to him?
    Cheers.

I was also on RT's forum etc. during the prequel era. But at least people accepted sensible arguments based on knowledge and narrative logic. Nowadays, everyone is just screaming stuff. There is no discussion when you start a discussion for example on one of the movie's themes, but half of the thread is full with one-liners like: "you psuedo-intellectualism doesn't save this piece of garbage", "Disney-damage control", "just bad writing/characters" and other un-argued catchphrases.

As for threads as "those who like the movie" "those who hated the movie", they breed just as much division and perhaps even more. Now, no one is listening but everyone just boxes him- or herself into their own info- and preference bubble.

So, I saw this and thought I'd wait until I watched the blu-ray...and yes.

As I've stated in other places here, I carried issues with some of the content, but didn't hate the movie, and I think my initial viewing was more shock value than anything...which is why my view was darkened.

Now that I've had time to digest what i first saw, my second viewing was less critical, and I enjoyed the movie more. It's Star Wars, so I loved it, but there are other movies in theis saga that I loved more.

Watched it tonight on Blu Ray @ home and overall only thing I really don't like is that we just did not get enough of the story of how Luke,Leia and Han knew Snoke and how Snoke established the First Order.

Ok, I first watched TLJ this past Monday and I was honestly a little... disappointed? I had spoiled a bit of it for myself, honestly, and it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I felt it was a bit disjointed and I didn't initially like how all but the hut force bond scenes were shot (I felt like I should have been able to see both of them, with blended backgrounds, tbh). I re-watched last night and I was able to appreciate it more, tbh. I'll be honest and say that it was kind of a let down until I re-watched and I was able to digest it a bit better. I definitely like it a lot better on repeated viewing, but not as much as TFA.

I love Kylo Ren in TLJ and I love the majority of Luke Skywalker's scenes, too. Rose is ok, but I didn't find her to be a great character addition to the franchise and the Canto Bight segment is just really not that great at all. I also just can't see Luke really contemplating killing Ben Solo after he was so dopey about there still being good in Darth Vader, either.

I'm going to need to come back to this thread in a couple of years. I think I'm finally at the point where I'm tired of being disappointed with this movie and am ready to move on with what's coming up with Solo and Ep. 9. I've contemplated watching TLJ again at home, but I can't seem to go through with it yet. Maybe after Ep. 9 I'll come back and take another look at TLJ. I'm glad some of those in my fellow "haters" camp have come to enjoy it now, maybe somewhere down the road (probably WAY down the road) I'll start to see it differently too.

The part where Leia is flying in space is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in a movie. What is even happening? Is she using The Force to fly back over to the undestroyed part of the ship? What even, Rian.

I initially liked the movie, now with the re watch I love it (even with it's flaws, honestly the 9 star wars movies ( counting rogue one) has a lot of flaws).. but i think i have reach to the point that is not entertaining to me talk about it, especially when I go to youtube

She is pulling herself to the ship, in space there is no gravity so is easier to do that. Kanan did that on Rebels too

    What propelled her movement, though?

    So odd.

You could re-watch it while watching the directors commentary or something? Maybe you'll hear something in better context. There is also version of the movie with no talking just the John Williams score.

Newton's third law of motion - all forces between two objects exist in equal magnitude and opposite direction: if one object A exerts a force FA on a second object B, then B simultaneously exerts a force FB on A, and the two forces are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction: FA = −FB. The same thing you feel when you push yourself against a wall - you're not going to move the wall, but the opposite force will move you. The same holds for Leia and The Raddus. She exerts a force upon the ship but since the ship is so much bigger than her the ship exerts an equal and opposite force towards her and that force pulls her towards the ship.

You know how Luke and and other force users force grab a light saber? Same concept. It's not a hard concept understand. With your eyes, maybe it would of look better if she position her body like superman?
