Why would it be of interest for me to change your mind? How is it possible for me to change your mind? That is a scary thought, really. I'm serious. Well, of course it could also be a rhetorical method used by yourself, then there is nothing scary about it.
Let me assume it is not a rhetorical method, then I need to write to you, in all honesty. You must NEVER let anyone change your mind about anything. Make up your own mind, gather whatever you think you need for that and let any input form YOUR OWN decision.

    How about TESB?

Let me put it this way; a consensus like that has never been seen past the second SW film. Not with the prequels, not now, not ever.

I for one, enjoyed TFA s much as I do the sacred ESB. A new hope to me is unbeatable though. Old school OT fan here ;)

You're allowed to talk about it. But if you spend valuable time every day telling everyone repeatedly why you don't like the movie and what is wrong with it, that seems like a waste of time to most of us. You're talking about something you hate. That's called being a hater. It's really not healthy.

I hated the prequels. I vented with friends of mine who also hated them, then I moved on with my life and spent my time on things I did like. You might want to try doing that, it would probably make you feel better.

Everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion, but, you should be prepared to justify your claims:

You say it's poorly written and horribly edited, examples?

You allege that we, the audience was manipulated due to lazy OT character growth or lack thereof, explain?

You claim that Han Solo is a coward and dead beat dad, AND crappy smuggler (which he's always been kinda bad at IMO), explain?

You feel as though the script was poorly written, explain?

If you cannot justify your statements, whether they're good or bad, agreeable or controversial, then you're just trolling IMO.

It was so hilarious. And let me tell you something: most of what he says it's right on.

Especially what he said about the old fans reacting to the new fans: I had that sort of remarks from some friends about my enthusiasm for Star Wars. I saw the OT for the first time two months ago and fell in love immediately with it! My knowledge and craziness about Star Wars developed exponentially (it was like an awakening for me lol - sort of Rey lol) and these friends were sort of reluctant regarding a new movie made by Disney. One of them said Disney destroys everything (for example, Marvel's Iron Man 3 was terrible compared to the first two) so she was not really enthusiastic about TFA. The other one - she had watched the movies when younger but not really a big fan - argued that with this new movies, Disney would exploit the merchandise so a lot of new fans would emerge like me. So I can agree with what the guy says about the haters - they come in all dimensions and perspectives!

Perhaps if you spoke about elements you felt did not work and why. Declarations of sucking, high horse too cool for school denouncement of those who did like as consumers and dismissing story elements fully and well explained in the film in favor of "this makes him a dead beat dad." Its not that people dislike the movie and want to talk about it. its that they want to destroy it as an affront to all things Star Wars. Maybe that's not you but that is a lot of what I hear. A lot of that is people want to troll or are clickbaiters.

I can't speak for the poster you were initially replying to but like him/her I have the same issues with the film and here is why. Yes Star Wars is a Fantasy story set in space like Andre the Black Nerd said. but every Fantasy story has it's set of rules. There is a certain canon it has to follow especially if it is a story that follows after SIX OFFICIAL CANON stories that have established these rules and boundaries. there where more than a few points in TFA that caused me as a viewer/consumer to lose my suspension of disbelief and pulled me completely out of the story. One example of this is Kylo Rens powerful introduction where displayed an ability that not only no other character had displayed before in the previous films but also one that would set him at a pretty advanced level even for a Jedi Master/Sith Lord. He stopped a Laser Bolt mid air without any effort and without even looking. Most Jedi masters and Sith Lords had to use their Lightsabers to deflect laser blasts. Darth Vader(the chosen one) had to rely on his cybernetic limbs and armor when he deflect Hans blaster discharges. So Kylos introduction established his character as a force user who's skill level with Force is above any other force user in the whole Star Wars franchise. this includes Luke, Obi Wan, Yoda and Vader. With that being said it was very unbelievable for someone that skilled and powerful to not have blocked Chewies blaster bolt, use the force and slam Finn into a tree like he did Rey, beat Rey the fledgling force user who just got slammed into a tree and to not be complete with his training. It was unbelievable that Rey was able to use a jedi mind trick on an individual who proved that his will was strong enough to resist. Jedi Mind tricks only work on the weak willed and once that Stormtrooper was established as someone who was not weak willed the whole Mind trick thing should have been dropped. Like Kylo, Rey's ability contradicted the rules of the Star Wars universe and canon. A more experienced Luke and Jedi Master Qui Gon Jinn were not able to use the Mind trick on Watto and Jabba because the Characters were too strong willed like the Stormtrooper watching Rey.

    It's a expression of disappointment.
Do you want only happy fans on this board and no critics?
This would be a very bland and boring board then.
    Some spice is needed.

Why is the guy in the video screaming?

You half-quoted me there. That post was talking about haters who make it their mission to bash those who like the film.

    Nice job.

They are very disapponited and need a way to let off some steam.
The folks who don't like TFA and state it (some exaggerated) get really hard flak for it and many dislikes.
I'am asking myself who is bashing who in this scenario.

As example if I like a movie, but someone else hates it and rips it apart, I ignore it. (problem solved)
If he has fun to bash it, alright let him have fun with it. (if the person has valid points - all the better)
Why is it so important if I'am right and others are wrong or vice versa.
It doesn't matter as long as I enjoy the movie.
Adults should stand above those things.

I liked the Kylo Ren / fanboy comparison.

    arekkusup.jpg

    Mark Twain agrees with you...

In religion and politics [and Star Wars forums], peoples beliefs and convictions are, in almost every case, gotten at second-hand and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the question at issue but who have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”

I think that it is ok that everyone have their own opinion: what I don't really think as good is that if someone didn't like it, they treat the rest of the ones who liked it like they have been brainwashed. I mean, you didn't like it? Fine. Live and let live.
