None of this is fact, at all. Han doesn't seem to know who she is but he certainly takes her right to the best person to find out (and for all intent and purpose meeting with Maz is utterly pointless except to move Rey's story along), no I am not refusing to answer your point about Maz your point is based on your complete misinterpretation of the scene. You keep insisting that Maz's discussion with Rey has to mean that Luke isn't Rey's father and that's just not remotely accurate.

Furthermore it is alluded in the film that Kylo knows more about Rey than he lets on and it is made clearly in the novel during their lightsaber duel. Specifically, when Rey reaches out for the lightsaber and it pulls to her.

    Here's the text:

Rey appeared equally shocked that her reach for the device had exceeded his. She gazed down at the weapon now resting in her grip.

    "It is you," Ren murmured.

His words unsettled her: Not for the first time, he seemed to know more about her than she did about herself.

What do we get out of that scene? Well Kylo Ren knows for sure who Rey is and he is definitely aware at this point that she's more worthy of his grandfather's lightsaber than he is. I don't think that really needed to be spelled out any clearer due to the fact that we already know he's Darth Vader's grandson and that specific weapon is now hers. Despite all of this Kylo's whole entire goal in the fight is to capture Rey, he's not trying to kill her he's trying to bring her over to his side. That could mean anything, if this were not a Star Wars film and we weren't already fully aware and prepared to watch the continuing adventures of the Skywalker family. That is the story, it always was the story the story never changed.

And if you can't tell that the scenes with Luke and Leia (she has exactly one scene with each of them for the record) are pointing in this direction I honestly don't know what to tell you, but you have a hard time reading between the lines man. I mean really.

Leia and Rey have never met before we see them together on screen and they give each other a big hug and she goes off to finish the whole entire goal of the film on her own, finding Luke Skywalker, and we all know very well that her own personal goal is reuniting with her family.

You mean to tell me that Leia is just going to pass on her personal quest to find her brother to a girl she just met and that there's not a hint in the film that they're related and that it's at least just as likely that they're not? Utter rubbish. I could understand if I were arguing that Rey is Kylo's sister but clearly that's not the case, and yet somehow she's obviously heir to the family legacy.

I'm not trying to be rude here really, but this is ridiculous and you just keep moving the goal posts here. You can believe what you want, but please stop bsing about what actually happened in the film.

Honestly the only thing that allows the possibility for other theories here is the simple fact that they didn't just come out and flat out tell us very specifically that Luke is Rey's father. There is absolutely nothing hinting at other possibilities, it's just simply not answered directly.

It is you ... The awakening Snoke told him about a brief moment ago.

You don't need to search in Ep II the answer that is already in the movie.

There has been an awakening. Have you felt it ? Even you leader of the knights of Ren didn't face such a test.

The Rey/Luke parallels are there to hit the audience over the head with a big stick to let them know that she's the main character and serving that function, not that she's his daughter.

The Snoke/Ren scenes and dialogue is a redone/rebooted take on the conversation between Palpatine and Vader in The Empire Strikes Back (and Return of the Jedi with Palpatine asking Vader to bring Luke to him.)

The "boy" is now a "girl" they keep obsessing over but unlike Vader and Palpatine, do not seem to know from where the heck she came from yet.

These aren't facts. Almost all of that is conjecture. Han may or may not know about Luke and if he has children or not. Same with Kylo and Leia. Nothing in the scene with Luke and Rey suggests they're not are long lost father and daughter seeing one another again.

Even the script doesn't make that leap:

Theories are fine, but let's not imagine facts.

so if Rey is Luke's daughter, why does Ren want to bring her to his side? so they can rule the galaxy together as what, cousins?
what do you think he's thinking? he's assigned to kill her father, so why doesn't he want to kill his cousin?

Not sure much can be drawn from this hypothesis. Luke is a Jedi Master that helped end the Empire. Rey is an untrained force user.

it's not a hypothesis it's a question: what does Kylo Ren want with Rey? if she's his cousin and he knows that, why does he want her?

I thought it was rather obvious already, why would the answer change because they're related? She's strong in the force, potentially stronger than he is, she is untrained and therefore useful to their cause. This isn't even disputable really, Snoke orders him to bring her to him, Kylo is not trying to kill her and offers to teach her.

The only difference is that there's more of a personal rivalry between them in the case that they're related and he fails to bring her to his side, and the story is kind of a bit stupid even for Star Wars standards if they're not.

Rey, heir to the Skywalker Legacy, no actual relation to the Skywalkers.

Ya I'll totally buy that instead of finding it absolutely ridiculous that they even reintroduce Anakin's weapon and pass it on to her just as it was to Luke clearly evoking Excalibur and with all the other imagery in the film and homage to Arthurian Legend, down to Maz very literally being a Lady on the Lake, Kylo Ren being very clearly inspired by Arthur's nephew (or illegitimate son) Mordred, Luke being off on a legendary Island (very similar to Avalon) and so on.

Why do you people insist that Rey and Luke aren't related? I haven't heard one solid reason yet.

Also the idea that they're cousins, that Kylo is fully aware of this, and that he isn't interested in killing her gives but possibly training here further reinforces his character as someone whose not just a misguided fool helplessly under Snoke's thumb and who "struggles" with being tempted by the light. Could very well be the reason why Rey survived. Certainly less holes in that theory than Rey simply having no relation at all and just happening to be the key to the whole story. Why even mention that Kylo previously struggled with the "pull to the light" unless it's to emphasize him previously failing to set Snokes plan in motion?

so, in the book, when Snoke threatens to give Ren a "reminder" about the Darkside and says "bring the girl to me", what do you think Snoke intends to do with her?
Is Ren going to convince Snoke to train her if she agrees to be his pupil?

    - Because real jedis have no family ( the one who don't fall to the dark side )
    - Because Luke found an academy ( we can conclude he followed the code )
    - Because Luke has no reason to abandon her on a harsh place
    - Because he doesn't seem to be happy to see her again
    - Because Maz made a distinction between him and the family of Rey
    - Because noone recognize her at all in the movie
    - Because she is noone
    - Because she thought Luke was a myth
    - Because she thought the jedis weren't for real.
    - Because the opening scene suggests that she comes from the wrecks of the empire.

The list is very very long.

"I'm no one" was taken out of the movie. There's lines used in the marketing left on the cutting room floor.

Abrams has likely known who Rey's parents are since Kathleen Kennedy spoke to him back in 2012. Ridley also says that she knows who they are, and I've never seen her deny two people in particular.

Ridley said that the answer would be in EP VII, that was untrue.

By the way the other points are valid and strong.

I'm not seeing a single solid reason here. Just a lot of assumptions.

I would say given all the failings of the Jedi Council in the prequels, and the absolute necessity that Luke pass on his training to others, that it's extremely unlikely Luke would follow the stringent code of the old Jedi. Nevermind that we actually do know for a fact that George Lucas planned for Luke to be a father, I highly doubt that that of all things was an idea that Disney rejected.

You're also assuming that Luke abandoned her. All that we know is that she was abandoned.

And for the umpteenth time now, Maz did not make a distinction between Luke and Rey's family. This is completely wrong. She never mentions her family at all. I have the movie sitting on my computer. So since you insist on ignoring the broader points I think I've made quite elegantly here, let me just give you the exact dialogue exchange.

Rey: What was that? I shouldn't have gone in there.
Maz: That lightsaber it belonged to Luke and his father before him and now, it calls to you!
Rey: I have to get back to Jakku.
Maz: Han told me. Dear child I see your eyes, you already know the truth. Whomever you're waiting for on Jakku they're never coming back. But, there's someone who still could.
    Rey: Luke.
Maz: The belonging you seek is not behind you, it is ahead. I am no Jedi, but I know the force. It moves through and surrounds every living thing. Close your eyes, feel it. The light. It's always been there, it will guide you. The saber, take it!
Rey: I'm never touching that thing again, I don't want any part of this!

Worth noting that the Force Theme (Luke's Theme) is playing in this scene and that Rey's Theme which builds throughout the film leading to her meeting with Luke, is based on the same theme.

And as for the rest, of course no one would recognize her. The last time anyone involved had seen her she was a very young girl, and possibly thought dead.

Of course she's a no one. So were Anakin and Luke before they were called to action.

Of course she doesn't remember Luke and thinks he's just a myth, are you forgetting about her traumatic past? Are you forgetting that she's pretty savvy with the force for someone who as far as we know has had no formal training whatsoever?

Seriously I feel like I'm debating with someone who isn't only unfamiliar with this film but isn't very familiar with Star Wars. :|

George Lucas is no more in charge. Did you know it.

And your points are not assumptions ? Youtube's music.

Debatable. I would say the answer is there, only it's not outright explicitly stated but certainly more than subtly hinted at.

George is no longer in charge? Okay I don't think that would at all change the fact that this is still the story of the Skywalker family. Certainly we have no reason to believe that Disney is going completely off the tracks there. And youtube's music? What are you even talking about? I'm talking about the actual themes written by John Williams.

Translation: You have no argument against anything I have posted here and just don't agree because reasons.

Maybe try paying attention to the actual dialogue in the film? Maybe just maybe try actually reading my posts and debating actual points I have made? Holy crap you people are ridiculous. Maybe if I came in here with some totally out there fan fic theory I'd get better responses. Apparently an accurate assessment of what is actually seen and heard on screen isn't evidence at all according to you and some other people. *yawn*
