    Kylo is lying to Rey about her parents being nobodies just like Obi Wan lied to Luke about his father. Rey is a Kenobi or a Solo. Kylo deals in lies and manipulation. He cannot be trusted.

    She sees the same thing in the cave, she sees herself because as said Maz she already knows the truth.

    They were just so bad parents ( which is a harsh choice from Disney - Really they sold her to drink ?? Les Miserables looks like a fairytale to this ) that she rather forget about them. That was her way to get through.

    Kylo can't lie to Rey - Rey can't lie to Kylo.

    The cave is a dark side test. Its preying on her greatest fear, that she's nobody. Luke's greatest fear is Vader. His cave taunted him with an image of vader. Rey's taunts her with an image of no identity.

    I'm completely on board with Rey being her own character and not relying on lineage to make us care for her. This is a bold move on RJ's part, but also a logical one.

    A nobody with a high midichlorian count, who needed a master and to be trained. Not a nobody who mastered the force within an hour with no explanation. And it's pretty bad that I now think that immaculate conception Anakin was a better explanation than what TLJ is serving up for Rey's power. Fine, have her be a nobody, but the sudden force powers with no explanation is what the problem is.

    Why is it "stupid" exactly? Her origins fits the themes of TLJ, that "anybody can be a hero"-echoed by Rose being a mere mechanic "who wouldn't ever see a hero like Finn" if he hadn't bumped into her, and the boy at the end with the broom.

    Okay, tell me how they explain "Kylo was lying, Rey totally believed it because she thought it was true, but actually she's Obi-Wans love child/Han or Leia's lost daughter that they never talk about/never considered Rey might be". Nobody could make that believable
