    Could JJ change who her parents are. Of course he can. However, it will do nothing to advance the story.

    It is obvious that at the end of TLJ they are setting Rey up to be the “new hope”. They were counting on Luke to come back and now he can’t. Rey is the only one left. She is now The Last Jedi. The proverbial torch has been passed. IX should be about looking forward to what she becomes and what she can accomplish, not about what is in the past. At this point continuing to dwell on her parentage is like beating a dead horse. Daisy has said numerous times where she goes is more important than where she comes from. Changing her parentage at this point is to create a twist just to create a twist. It is unnecessary.

    I have a strange feeling that they're siblings. How would she not know who her parents are or forget their names? She was at least 6 when she was left on Jakku. Was her mind wiped (yes I know this theory again)? Right after the bit where Luke reaches out to Leia with the force, Rey and Kylo have a force connection. I find that timing to be rather interesting. I think Kylo knows the truth and is lying to her. Perhaps Kylo wiped her mind and left her there so he could find her later and manipulate her? There was no reason to have that scene of Luke reaching out to Leia if not to mean something. Right after that, they connect. It's just... I think it's not "nobody".

    Them being siblings would create massive plot holes in TFA and TLJ if revealed in IX.

    Her being a solo/skywalker is the least possible solution.

    JJ has said that Kylo met her for the first time in TFA. So he didn’t wipe her mind.
