Of all the people who have been on this thread specifically I have been one of the people who have driven the point home about JJ and his dealings with his other films. Go back and read the pages of this thread. I've watched just about everything he's been a part of. You are posting info that is weeks old that's already been discussed and telling us JJ does deceptive things to keep his films in secrecy. We know that.

 

The trailer is a perfect example. He cut it in such a way that while we met the new characters, we didn't learn anything new about the plot. JJ actually misdirected us by putting Poe's cockpit scene next to the X-wings on water scene, and combining two Rey scenes. He also didn't reveal the original cast. I could go on. Dude is a master at the mystery box.

 

then why are you so confused about kylo, here it is its simple ren (adam driver) is an x-wing pilot who has force abilitys he collects sith artifacts from rey. kylo then makes a crap lightsaber and thinks he can take on everybody and wishes to be trained by a sith lord (andy serkis)

 

I feel like you should have made your user name Supershadow. When you post a picture of the script I'll say you are correct. We are all speculating. Have faith in JJ that you are wrong.

my friend is in star wars seven, he works at pinewood studios london. havent spoke to him in a week he is really busy. He says j.j. has stated that anyone in the cast and crew who leaks info shall be fired. P.s. I own a copy of the script from the phantom menace.

So this picture was posted to a forum in china (ignore the red arrows I put them there) In this picture we can clearly see 5 TFA action figures. We know who they all are but the one all the way to the left (tallest) know one really knows. I have proof it is kylo Ren. So kylo Ren was rumored to be played by Adam driver and I think he may be. The actions figure in this picture shows the character to the left is really tall and Adam is 6 3 so it makes perfect sense. Also this Picture was leaked and it looks the same as the one the figure is wearing. So what do you think. Is this what kylo Ren looks like? Is it proof that he is played by Adam driver? Take the poll!!

 

I definitely think that Ren is played by Driver. The rumors have consistently pointed that way. I think this is overall what he will look like. I expect the final figure to be a touch sleeker like the footage in the trailer and the helm to be less boxy.

 

Why would this be prove that Ren is played by Driver? Just the height? I'm not saying he's not, it's just I'm not getting why a masked and cloaked figure = proof of Ren being Driver to you.

 

I've heard a rumor several times that Ren is with the Imperials during the "village burning" scene... If that proves true or even if he's simply shown to be directing/commanding them from another location, it certainly would hint at his power and influence. Also, you'd have to assume that someone within the Empire would know his true identity. He couldn't rise trough the ranks as an unnamed, masked assassin. Unless of course he's infiltrating the Empire in much the same way people have speculated that he's infiltrating the "rebels." His story could go in a thousand different directions.

How's this for a thought from a really old fan new to rumor/guessing forum?

What if "Kylo" isn't a name but a rank? A previously unknown Sith rank. You would think that something "new" to add to Star Wars cannon will be in the new film. All guesses right now are based on what we know about "Darth" rank. "Kylo" could be introduced as a "Pre-Darth" rank in Sith lore. We just don't know it yet. Did anyone know what a Padawan was before the name was introduced in Episode 1? Both mean apprentice, but on different sides of the force.

The name "Ren" tells me more about this character than anything else. The female (who has to be Skywalker family as the actress is dead ringer for Natalie Portman) is "Rey". Knowing how Star Wars names it's characters...could siblings, or even twins, born to Han and Leia be named Rey and Ren?

Force sensitive twins, one flirting with the Dark Side. Learning all he can about his grandfather...finding armor, old lightsabers, parts of Grandpa's mechanical body.. Turns into obsession. The obsession is sensed by a Dark mentor who starts the manipulation/training process. Han chases his son around the galaxy while Leia and Rey (Force sensitive but neither trained at this point) are on Tatooine to seek help from hermit Luke. Uncle Luke steps in to try and prevent what happened to Grandpa Anikin from happening to his nephew...but Luke makes it worse..failing as Yoda did in having the Dark Side grow beyond his control. Add 1 more tragedy (Leia and/or Han death) and Ren is lost. Rey is left to train as the "only one that can redeem her brother". This borrows from themes in expanded universe books and fits for me as an absolutely wild guess.

That plot of tragedy, family connection etc, is classic Star Wars drama.

 

I dont post often here, in fact hardly ever. Only really feel the need to when something big is happening, such as when the teaser was out. This, I feel, is another one of them moments.

Hear me out. This IS speculation, however I am very confident that what I am about to tell you is the case, or something very similar will be the case.

I have named the thread "its been right under our noses" for a reason obviously, and it's quite simple yet ive just kicked myself for only noticing this. I apologise in advance if anybody else has made this point.
Go to the official Star Wars website. Under the force awakens section where the cards are with different shots from the trailer, and then a small annotation beneath them. Use the example of Finn and Rey, in the captions beneath their cards it tells you who is playing them, it doesnt however tell you who is playing Kylo Ren. No surprise, we know that they havent officially announced that. And then it hit me.

Why wouldnt they tell us who is playing that role?

The character's identitiy clearly doesnt get found out until the climax of the film. Finding out who is playing Kylo Ren now would be massive spoilers, which leads me to the conclusion that the actor who plays Kylo Ren, is also playing another character (if that makes sense), who is believed by others to be good. Im talking Chancellor Palpatine and Sidious here. I know this theory has been presented before, with people saying Driver will be playing Kylo, but will be leading a double appearance, possibly posing as a rebel yet secretly is Kylo Ren. If it was to be let out now who is playing Kylo, then it would be easy to put the pieces together when watching the film from the moment we see Driver also playing a rebel or some other kind of 'good' guy.

To conclude, my point is this. We havent been told who is playing as Kylo Ren for a reason, his identity is clearly somewhat crucial to the storyline of TFA. As aforementioned, I realise numerous people have backed this theory and I am NOT the first to present the idea of Driver playing both a good guy and a bad one, or even a good guy who turns bad. But I am pretty sure I am the first one to put this out there. I think this gives us a massive hint about the character of Kylo Ren, without telling us anything at all.

Please give me your thoughts.

 

Ren has been listed as Adam Driver(who you may not know is a USMC veteran who served in OIF/Iraq) in a few places related to TFA teaser.
Your remarks have some merit BUT I think it's clear that Driver will be Ren.
I think he staggers because of his serious injuries/wounds. It's been speculated there is a huge light saber battle between 2 clearly mismatched foes. My impression is that is Luke Skywalker & Kylo Ren.
I think Ren will be a villian/heavy that will NOT die in The Force Awakens but may die in EP8.
I also think Kylo Ren might be connected to PT's Count Dooku.

 

It is of popular opion it is Driver, but it could be a few others too. Tall and lanky could be at least 3 other actors. So it is possible it isn't Driver but it seems he is the only logical one just from the get go.

 

While Driver's name was listed in the credits on the trailer. It doesn't look like this...

Kylo Ren - Adam Driver

He isn't listed as Kylo Ren and to me the credits don't mean much on something like iTunes. iTunes credits for trailers aren't policed by the SAG. You can put whatever you want in the info on iTunes or Apple TV (they use the same data base of files). Its kind of like when you see a movie poster and there's one character on the poster but a bunch of names are listed at the bottom.

It's possible that the identity of Ren is a surprise secret identity character but it is also possible that right now they simply wish to keep details about the character more secret than those whose faces we can see. I personally don't want to see a "double agent" scenario it just seems tired to me. There has been theories suggesting both Driver's character and Christie's either defect or are double agents against the rebellion/new republic. I don't think that will be the case and in my opinion that seems like something I don't care to see play out. I've already seen it play out in probably 10 movies and they were MUCH less creative than Star Wars. I hope this movie (since it's called The Force Awakens) centers more around force related themes than sneaky military plots more suited for James Bond. Anything is possible though obviously.

Also we have seen photos of the Greenham Commons set where it looks like Adam Driver (in Xwing gear) and Gwen Christie appeared to be on set. Obviously this is what has fueled the double agent theories however Mark Hamill was recently talking about how he had to wear a huge coat/cloak just going from his trailer to the sound stage so he wouldn't be seen. If there was a situation where Driver and or Christie were part of a secret identity scenario I think JJ would have taken better care of them not being seen just walking around between shooting on set in costume. It was common knowledge drones were flying over the set taking videos/photos. You would think he would have freaked or had been prepared. That's just my opinion.

 

The wild flip would be that "Rey" is a hero/good character until the film climax where it's revealed she's secretly in cahoots with Kylo Ren: Ren-Rey, twins?
That might be who Rey hugs at the end of TFA.
Then Luke and Finn are like; mofo!
I'm curious to know too if Poe's face injuries are somehow related to Ren's third act injuries/limp.
His face looks injured in the X Wing close ups.

 

I've thought about what if Rey is a good girl who goes bad, or is already. It would for sure be a knock out twist.
