Agree. She might be the most tragic character in the saga.

OMG. They're killing me with that extract. What Han says reminds me a lot of my father, he used to say the same to my mother. And he passed away at 64 :(

    Sorry, getting too personal here.

Regarding the book, really looking forward to read it.

It speaks very highly of her that she can endure so much and yet still keep going/not break. Also that snippet, ain't exactly making me think any better of Kylo btw. Quite the reverse actually.

I've been able to read a little of Bloodline. Here's what I can tell you based on a few chapters.

I hope that when Leia and Luke see each other again in Ep. VIII, it's a bit happier a reunion. I realize at this point in the story, there isn't a lot to be "happy" about, per se, but...

We've seen an anxious, hesitant, kinda sad reunion (with Han), and I believe we'll see another hesitant, very dramatic and emotional reunion (with Ben/Kylo) later. For the Luke-Leia reunion, I want to see them unreservedly glad to see each other. Smiling, even. (Is that too much to hope?) I want to feel relieved when they're together again!

    Thoughts?

i hope so too ~ it's going to rough for her when she sees her son again no matter what (even if it's on "good" terms), so hopefully connecting with Luke will be positive at least. they share a mutual tragedy on multiple levels and it's clear that she's not angry with Luke (though i still had the sense that Han was).

it will be interesting to see whether Luke has any kind of residual anger toward her (doesn't seem like he should).

Was able to get those 3 chapters myself. It looks good. I can't wait to read the whole thing. I keep wondering in my mind what a reunion with her son would be like, like you all are saying, rough.

Rumors like these are what makes me very uneasy and protective over the original Star Wars cast, particularly Luke and Leia. It's like there is no respect for their storylines, their beloved EU stories that are now Legend, and the new writers coming are insistent to impress upon us the "baton being passed to a new generation", which frankly makes me see red. I get it that our OT character are old now, and we need younger characters to carry it forward, but that doesn't mean we have to KILL OFF any more established characters to make it more dramatic, or show how evil Kylo Ren is! Luke and Leia, (and Han for that matter) deserve to ride off into the sunset and live on in novels and our dreams. I do not want to see a funeral for Leia for a dramatic musical score, nor do I wish to see a force ghost of Luke, ever, for poetic rhyming reasons. They need to find a way to let the original characters fulfill their later in life adventures, while still coexisting with the younger generations.

I hope that Leia has a more prominent role in Episodes VIII and IX. And now that Han has been killed, both she and Luke should have happy endings. The fact that the positivity of Jedi's ending has been undone rubs me the wrong way. Yes, the characters faced many challenges in the EU, but they were truly at a low in TFA. Let's not knock down the achievements of the OT's heroes just to prop up the new characters. The OT wasn't a tragedy, it was a story of redemption and correction of the tragedy of the PT.

It was always going to be, that's the price for getting more movies. And unlike the EU (where there was seemingly a massive new crisis every few years or so), in the new canon, they had decades of relative peace. Things only really went to crap within the last 5-7 years or so.

Agree. The OT cannot be used as a comparison point - I mean, with Obi-Wan dying and being a Force-ghost - simply because there was not previous emotional engagement with him at the same extent there is with Han, Luke and Leia. Being Han out of the equation, I reckon it would be a terrible move to remove them just because they are old and there are younger characters.

Having said that, I would definitely riot if something happens to Leia. Lol.

I really liked Carrie Fischer in VII, it was a positive surprise because she wasn't acting anymore and I think there was legit doubts about how would turn out. Well, it was just Leia as we know her. I think the main question, beyond bigger or smaller role in VIII, is if Leia will or won't use the force, because she's Luke's twin and therefore should be equally powerful. I like the idea that she never developed her powers and she kept doing her thing. She's very rational character and she decides to be General rather than Princess, but also General rather than Jedi. I'd love to see Leia using her full power in the climax of VIII and IX, maybe to save the life of a beloved one. I'd like as a fan to be surprised by how powerful Leia is, to see her using it once, but in an epic way.

I fully grasp that, however, I was expressing my concern moving forward with the story in the next 2 episodes.

When watching Episode7, I kept waiting for that "moment" when all hope seems lost, and suddenly Luke shows up saves the day, and to an extent I got that when Rey brings the saber to her, out forcing Kylo with the force pull. That was a great moment. I am hoping we get that moment with Leia, when something happens and she does a force move, and everyone realizes she does have strong Jedi powers, and everyone's jaw just drops.

Since I heard this, I hated it. Going extra mile to torture the character who already suffered so much does not a compelling story make. She is Leia, if you want her out of the way for a portion of the movie: give her something to DO!

I wondered if in that state, she would be doing things as she is kind of an empath. Like perhaps, communicating with Luke, Kylo Ren, etc. It may not be a lot of the movie. We shall see.

She has been on a British TV show (It airs on Amazon Prime) called Catastrophe. It's more of a funny role.

I was watching last night AOTC and just realised Leia and both of her parents had been piloting N-1 starfighters in Naboo in different occasions, wearing the same helmet and outfits - Leia and Padme.

Just how on Earth Ben is not a pilot puzzles me a lot.
