This is what happens when the producers of the film are dead set against using any amount of cgi.. if they can help it. I was hoping the planets would be more distinct and original and less like the environs of Earth, or at least, previous SW planets. Here's hoping that Ep. 8 fixes this. Couldn't they at least used SOME cgi to add some strange moons in the sky or something to make for a more interesting planetary vistas? Sheesh...

I don't mind so much that D'Qar and Takodana look similar to Naboo... but why do they look similar to each other? They might as well just have made one of them Naboo.

Poe says the Hosnian system was destroyed, so unless Coruscant is in the Hosnian system, it's Hosnian Prime.

So, it appears that JJ has created not one, not two, not three, but four 'new' planets that look exactly like planets we've already seen. #Visionary

I'm surprised they never name Luke's planet (does the Visual Dictionary name it?). Like, just tell us the name! It's not that difficult!

I'm thinking Luke's planet is Tython. They said that Luke was looking for "the first Jedi Temple," and in the EU Tython was the Jedi homeworld.

Now that would be something, that he went back to the jedi's roots to seek redemption, I can also see Rey being trained there.

You might be onto something in that they have been looking to BioWare's games for certain planets and lore.

We were 99% sure, but Pablo Hidalgo just confirmed that the Republic capital that is destroyed is Hosnian Prime (along with its moons and other planets in its system).

    yup....

BTW! I watched Rebels with my son and Skellig looks like those Jedi temples in the show.

Interesting and nice call. They could have done the temples CGI but this is more real.

Good thing they stumbled upon Skellig Michael, complete with premade sets. ;)

They might have to retcon it to do that. The older galaxy maps I have seen have Tython in the core. Judging by the maps in the movie, Luke's planet looks to be somewhere in the mid-rim, possibly Rakata Prime if this map is accurate.
