You think that there would be THAT MANY PEOPLE aboard that thing to inhabit a place where Rey just so happens to live and not utilize the ship's resources for food and water where a ship THAT BIG could possibly help people live in more than a HORRIBLE environment for over 31 years ?

The presence of Rakata Prime on this map is interesting. Rakata Prime wasn't canon until now. Wonder what this means for the Rakata species.

And D'Qar is very close to planet Naboo.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that for a while now. Does this mean the Rakata has a role in the ST? Could Snoke be Rakatan? So many possibilities....

The Rakata's biggest legacy was their superweapons, so my first reaction was that Starkiller Base is a Rakatan weapon. Snoke being a Rakatan himself would be a huge reveal for the KOTOR fans when we see him.

This settles the Jakku = Tatooine debate. They are different planets in different locations. Also confirms that it isn't Naboo. And it looks like Jakku isn't in the Outer Rim.
It is also interesting that Starkiller Base has an "origin point." Does this mean it moves like the Death Star?
Am I missing anything else of interest?

We have been discussing it at
    https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet.com/index.php?threads/planets-in-tfa.6221/

    also from http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2015...-planet-from-star-wars-the-force-awakens.html
The guys from StarWars-Union.de have a very interesting theory on Starkiller base and its location. They compared the new map with an old one and discovered that the planets Ord Mantell and RakataPrime fit directly with the same planets from the new star map. AndStarkiller base is located where previously another ice planet stood – Ilum!

The Ilum is the "origin point"?

That's the theory, at least.. The planets match and Ilum is canon..

New planet? D'qar maybe? Looks like the falcon gets an escort. Under the Falcon is a new ship, could be Leia's ride.

    So like basically we'll see:
    - Jakku
    - Takodana
    - Starkiller
    - Planet that Starkiller blows up (Hosnian Prime?)
    - D'Qar
    - Luke's planet (Ryoome?)

So six planets. That's the second highest in the series (after ROTS) tied with ROTJ SE, trivia fans!

But all of them look the same as planet we already have seen in other Star Wars movies.
In ROTS, all planets where unique.
