I just hope the fainthearted people dont follow in fear they would....you know faint, or something. Being fainthearted and all. 1. What do you think Rey's role should be in the poasible relationship between her and Kylo/Ben/Ren?
His saviour? The harbinger of his Rendemption? A faithfull force bonded companion? Or an equal, Rey to his Ren in a sort of Yin Yang Union? Or something else?

2. What do you see as the bigest controversy of this possible romance?

3. The label shipper is intriguing to me but it also disturbs me on a certain level. Do you think that it has some negative conotations (what?) and have you ever used it to label people with it?
What particularly interest me is: doesnt a relationship betwen two people involve ALL forms of interactions and not just romantic, so basically all who see ANY kind of interactions between the two charachters are basically relationshippers? I just cringe when i see people who are clearly invested enough in Rey's and Kylo's interactions to CARE enough to venture an opinion about it, distance themselves from the term or use it with negative conotations.

She should play a big role in Ren's redemption, especially because of Carrie's death. (Yes, I think Ren will and should redeemed in IX, not in TLJ).

Well, this mind reading stuff isn't that comfortable (just look at Poe). Rey tries to fight against Ren's power. It's exhausting as you can see here. I think it feels like a pressure.

What role exactly you think? Myself for the story of st, I would prefer it to be that of compassion and not love/attraction.

I dunno...the pressure must be immense, Im sure....and on her face here, I mostly see her realizing how big it actually is.


But Poe's and her mind probing were completely different. Some people who are crafty with the visual storytelling like to say that when a parallel like that is made in a story using a complete different approaches and outcomes it is put in deliberately to emphasize on the difference between what the scenes actually represent. It has been discussed here before. To sum it up there is a difference netween mind reading and mind probing.

There are different kinds of invasion I think.

Sometimes I cry when Im happy. Or feeling...good. i think many woman do, actually.

 

This is HIGHLY speculative, but I think they will eventually get romantically involved. At first it will be a partnership in order to destroy Snoke. At the end of ep.9 they will become romantically involved. Then in episode 10 and the sst will be the story of their offspring. They would be some badass kids. That goes well with my theory of Rey's origins. But I won't get into that.

 

I agree with @NinjaRen about Rey's significance to Ben's redemption. She should be the catalyst to bring him back to the light, just as Luke was to Vader. She will help him return to the light and together they will find a way to establish the Balance. Then Ben Solo can be the Ben Kenobi archetype of Episode X - whether in the fourth trilogy Rey will be his friend or something more (to continue the Skywalker bloodline for the Saga films) I don't know.

I'd even go so far to say I expect that Ben Solo may even be redeemed in this film just based on some things we are seeing: his smashed mask, him looking sorrowful, how his 'humanity' will be explored more, him fighting off two mystery opponents in the BTS reel which may or may not in fact be the two Praetorian guards shown by EW.

 

Fair enough, but Rey isn't crying because she's happy or feeling good. She's crying because Ren is doing something she doesn't want him to do.

I dunno. Perhaps he will embark on that road...of rendeption in 8. But I can see him being fully restitued until Snoke is defeated and Evil is vanquished.

No, the broken mask is lying on a FO typed floor. So, he will most likely smash the mask on his own. We already talked about this in the Kylo thread. But she could break his mask metaphorically.

i don't think there's anything inherently wrong with shipping and people should have fun with it, but i made it a point to try to understand it and boy have i seen some things.
i mean, i get the impulse, and it's amusing on a lot of levels. i have read many entertaining fanficts and admired a lot of art pieces that are all over the place from DarkPilot to FinnRey to Kylux and back again.
but i also see people using it to push agendas, be disturbingly vulgar and/or provocative, and to justify/support/validate unhealthy behavior--and then they pitch unholy fits whenever anybody challenges it. so: lots of rotten apples not only in the shipping itself, but in the social media aspect of it as well.
like i said: drama for the sake of drama.
it's earned its bad reputation, unfortunately.

the "trigger" tags alone are as strong an indicator that this is a game played by people who want to be offended, cause offense, and/or explore or reconcile dark corners of trauma through fantasy characters--and ultimately find these things titillating.

while i don't judge that, i do judge the behavior that stems from it.
if the so-called shipping community wants to be respected, they should also be respectful.
if we're supposed to take their kylux seriously as an "art form" then they need to be able to accept criticism and not get violently offended and have suicide-threatening meltdowns when someone tells them that Hux would never bottom (hahahaha ~ stupid example, but seriously, i have seen knock-down drag-out fights over stuff at this level. it's ridiculous).
