as @GreyLo said, i think it's about the fact that he decided to carry her--and that way--at all.

fueling it too is the fact that in the book, he lets her drop like a rock, but they changed in the film so that he catches her.
this makes sense just from a beat perspective, sure, because he's gotta carry her later (he even does this in the book).
but they could have used that moment to show him be that callous monster--letting her fall on the ground--but they chose not too.
people also like to point out that he's got a "guilty" expression (on his expressionless masked face) when the Stormtrooper approaches.
his body language does mean something--he moves very deliberately throughout the film.

and while it's all maybe over-analyzing "to the point of absurdity", so is literally every other bit of speculation on this board.
just because it applies to something some people find needlessly objectionable doesn't mean it isn't still a valid part of Star Wars and the fans' experience of it.

Yesterday I caught a glimpse of someobe saying that it was said in the ew spreads that Poe is like a son to Leia. A son she always wished Ben to be? I found that....so freaking awful. To have a mother feel that about her own child.

Did I get that right? Or I misunderstood something?

Did Kylo felt like that? It would explain Poe's cockiness in their interogation scene and Kylo's excessive violence there towards Poe...

 

That's it. I'm unsubscribing from watching this tread. You guys are killing me. I see a thread update several pages long and I just spent precious time had to scroll through several pages of Adam Driver gifs and discussion of his other movies.

I didn't see (or maybe I missed it because I just didn't read all posts for the past few pages) someone discuss the juicy bits dropped by EW yesterday?

For instance this gem personally made me laugh -

That statement sees to parallel the allredy existing ones such as- "two disparate pieces coming together" (JJ TFA commentary about Kylo and Rey meeting at Takodana) and their "destinies intertwined" and sharing a "strange connection"(starwars.com databank). I mean JJ and Rian (and official starwars.com) keep saying those things and I still see people even after all that saying, that's it, #Kylo Ren is evil confirmed. Rey hates his guts and will want to revenge him.

Also, WTH, "Among their shared interests"

What is this, their dating compatibility?

Joking aside, my two cents and I agree with others that if there is romance it will be between Ben and Rey, the persona/mask Kylo Ren must go.

But more seriously and joking aside, while this is probably more suited to the redemption related threads I'll post it here since Daisy is the one shedding light on Kylo and how her character feels vis a vis him...

From the articles in EW the biggest hint as to where the story is heading was courtesy of Daisy.

So I read this as Daisy hinting that maybe some currently "bad people" (read Kylo) can make some good decisions...and that it is "not so cut and dry"...
Which of course is very interesting.

We'll see.

He had stormtroopers at hand and could have easily ordered them (as he did with Poe earlier in the movie in a scene directly reminiscent of/paralleling the one with Rey - he Force froze Poe too), etc.

Also, I certainly agree, sure, a Skywalker can carry an unconscious Kenobi in other, not explicitly romantic trope ways.

I was already glooming about the 'humilliation of kylo ren'....you dont fight darkness with darkness if you want to triumph over it. Only if you want to kill it.
And humiliating and judging someone is darkness. Cuz it's rooted in arrogance.

I was so bummed reading first part of the article that i acctually took the two halves thing as in she will always be only light and he will always be only dark and so the balance would be mantained.

If you ever see that mask removal scene side-by-side with the scene where Leia takes hers off to help Han in Jedi, you can see he truly looks like his mother. From the soft brown eyes to the fair skin.

 

Oh? I assumed that the Entertainment Weekly officially sanctioned articles which are definetely part of the official promotion/marketing for the movie should not qualify as spoilers and thus be open for discussion on non-spoiler threads...

 

Apart from Adam's extraordinary sensibilities in acting and the ability to transfer emmotions often with nothing but just the look on his face or the stance of his body, he is also a very handsome man.
The kind of a guy that captivates a woman's attention cuz his beyond-the-physical allure is just so damn evident that his big ears or assymetrical face really dont matter.

I cant escape the feeling the choice of him for this role had plenty to do with that charisma. And also...looking his most beautiful self during the demasking? Yeah...right...so accidental.

Everything about his features makes him beautiful, face and ears too. As J.J put it, he's princely and Rey is supposed to be like Cinderella.

Not sure what J.J was thinking regarding that honestly. He just said he wanted a castle (Maz's), a forest like in fairy tales and the two of them meeting there was either a coincidence or he was trying for a Disney theme.

Dunno...but if Finn get it on with Rose, I dont think there will be way back to Fin Rey. And that leaves who for romance?
Maybe Luke will meet his wife and they go that route? Cuz i dunno...i think there must be romance. A movie like this is incomplete without it. And the only two young people (main charachters) around are Rey and Ren. Poe is there but he was supposed to be dead after 15 min when the st story was laid out.

I always had a thing for Rey/Poe though it is highly unlikely. Rey/Finn is still very possible too. Shame though that Reylo is the one with the most amount of fics and art. People will be so crushed if it doesn't happen or they end up related. That stuff never bothered me (canon romances), but so many take it seriously. As you know from the abuse I endured at the game forum over a romance option made for females only.

 

I am very emmotionally involved in the story, but mostly in Ren's rendemption. That they develop and end his story properly. Believable....towards a Je'daii fate...Making rey/kylo relationship romantic just seems like a natural flow of things after he becomes the man he oughta be.
But I have like very specific scenario of their hook up that i would like to see and am pretty sure that wont happen, so am really okay with no reylo in st.
I only read one fanfic...in my blood stream? But to be honest...the story there was mweh the best part was the fluff. Sorry
I know so many people LIVE reylo and can get quite agressive about it and i have to be honest....sometimes...i wish no reylo happens just so the reylo-nazis woukd flip hahaha...whoops.

 

What's truly baffling about it, is the amount of actors, writers and directors who like it. If they know they are not going to be together or they are related, that sort of stuff will be heavily frowned upon by fans and considered baiting. Again, this happened at the game forum and it started a horrible war.

Both sides make my logical brain hurt sometimes. There's evidence for and against it, nothing is set in stone, no matter how much is teased. When the trilogy ends, I think the war will still continue. I really don't care if he gets with Rey or some random chick in the FO. I just want Ben Solo!

 

We are shipping BenLo....lolz i dont care what his name will be. He is now Kylo Ren so I call him that. I prefer to call him Ren. I dunno Ben. Ben could have been a whino like Luke in ANH...and thats just....ahem...not my thing.


What would be the point of arguing (as in laying out arguments pro or con, and not fighting) after the story is concluded? That doesnt compute hahaha...

I've seen it haha I have seen it with POTC, HP... canon does not matter to many shippers, so if they don't get what they want, I say just write/read fanfics and enjoy life!
