I swear if he doesn't get redeemed or ends up killed off, I am just walking out. My mother also agrees. This is not a charter meant to fall like a villain. Partially why I was first drawn to him and Rey as lovers. If anyone can help him, it's her. Once she gets over wanting to kill him haha

1. I think she will balance him. Not in a romantic way however. More and more he and she are like a photo and its negative.

2. The biggest controversy will be that she would find him attractive or a life partner after what he did to Han. I don't think this will happen, but if it did, this would be the controversy.

3. "Shipping" in and itself has romantic connotations. It's not used for non-romantic interactions.

4. He's mentally raping her.

 

Force Balancing?
Two followups:
1.How exactly does one balance another person?
I have been pondering about that one my self actually. By adjusting his midichlorians levels and orientation? Or some other way...methaphyisical? Or just plain old feminist patronizing: "Listen man, you have been doing this all thing wrong i will show you what you need to do"
I doubt very much so. At least I hope it's not that. I think balancing a person has more to do with understanding them. Because one can relate with the other and acknowledge all the aspects of one's personality cuz they share them. The good noble feelings, honesty, sense of fairness, nobility...but also the bad ones, like anger, fear and hate. So one is able to show compassion to the other then. And to evoke the same in another. Through their force bond, if one was made during interogation, so that he would know her care is genuine.
I guess for me its hard to separate the care for a forcebonded person from the more romantic connotations of it since it is a man/woman force bond. Are there examples of nonromantic male/female (same species) FB in canon? I only know Bastlla and Revan.

2. Do you think Rey is light Only and she has no darkness?

So you dont believe in forgivness? Not even if he gets reformed/balanced/whatever? What if Leia forgives him? What if Rey forgives him? You wouldn't?

I think...the problem is most people (both sides, pro and con) dont actually know what the term really represents. And they focus on only one aspect of the relationship. And some people use it in a derigatory manner, as a label. Happens more than you think actually. People like to label others...put them in the stereotype boxes. Based on what they think they know of them instead of really trying to understand someone's point of view. Look at this if you have time:

See guys...thats the problem here. You cant disconnect from the fact that you dont see their interactions past their sexes. Would you use the same term for Poe's interrogation @BespinMinersUnion1138? Cuz that one could be argued as such. Kylo was excessivelly violent there. Got in. Took what he wanted. Didnt care about the dammage he might cause (he did no damage tho Poe is at his best self just 30 min later). He doesnt like Poe that much as it seems. And I think there might be a reason for that besudes him being the enemy if the FO but lets not get into that atm.

So my point here is I guess...why does mind probing HAVE sexual subtext to you (both of you) enough to call it rapey only when Ren is probing Rey and not in all other cases?
Is it cuz he first shows compassion to her loneliness? Do you think he did, went to read her mind on her feelings, hopes and dreans because it was an interrogation technique or something? I think he couldn't help it. I think it was genuine...because he has compassion for her. Which is why Snoke is uncomfortable with Kylo's...feelings....towards Rey.

That whole scene was set up to form the connection between them, which you can see happen suddenly and unexpectedly by watching their body language. It's also meant to show his feelings when it comes to Rey, weaken him. By rights if he was like his grandfather, he would have been rough like Vader was with Leia, and would not have tried to calm her, so she would not be hurting if she fought back.

 

Hmm, what is the context for Snoke disapproving or being uncomfortable? I don't remember reading that (although my memory is pretty bad!). Seems like that's what Snoke has been doing to Ren since the beginning (Leia says he has been watching Ben "from the beginning" in the novel), so I don't know why he'd have a problem with it.

 

His wording in the book always made me think he had even worse intentions with Rey to teach Ren a lesson for caring about her.
