Rey's new lightsaber in Episode IX

I'm very glad to hear JJ was interested in a dual lightsaber, gives me hope that Ep IX will have one!

 

Not gonna lie, when the sword of Skywalker broke I almost burst into tears... happy tears that is. I have an unhealthy obsession with lightsaber design so when Anakin's was destroyed, I knew that meant Rey would have to have one of her own in 9.

I think a double sided lightsaber would work the best for her character as it resembles the staff she used for the majority of her life. I really have no preference as far as color goes, something other than blue would be cool but if it ends up being blue I won't complain.

 

I hope that two lightsabers happen.

I want Rey to repair Anakin's. After so much trouble was gone through to bring it back and make it a part of the story again, I hope she repairs it to learn from it, so it can be put away and given to another Skywalker in a future trilogy someday.

Then I want her to craft her own double ended lightsaber like Maul had, but in green.

 

I don’t like the idea of her staff being converted into a lightsaber. It is kind of cheesy to me anyway. I do like the idea of a double blades lightsaber. As far as color, I really don’t have a preference. If she does not have a double blades saber then I hope the in she has is not the current saber fixed.

 

She has Anakin's crystal, but the shell of his lightsaber is ruined, so it seems logical to think she will use it to craft her own lightsaber. I think a lot of us would be on board with a blue double blade. I would also be down to see her wield two sabers.

 

Luke's lightsaber repaired. No fancy stuffs for Rey.

 

The nerd in me says double-bladed. The purist in me says green.. The prequelist in me says purple.

The realist in me says blue.

 

Giving Rey a double blade would be great because we've only seen a villain (Darth Maul) wield one in live action at this point.

 

Yellow single blade or blue double blade. I want something different.

 

She already has some training with her other staff like on jakuu. Thats why I pick dual blade lightsaber.

 

Did you notice how there were no lightsaber duels in TLJ? Lightsabers were used (the throne room fight is one of the best I've seen in SW), but they never clashed. Not ONCE. There was that flashback with Kylo and Luke, but technically that didn't happen in TLJ. This was the first movie without a lighsaber duel, no wonder so many people are mad haha

I think Rey will build her own lightsaber (I hope it's white) and fix the broken one to give back to Kylo when he comes to his senses.

 

Yeah, the minute I saw her holding it, broken in half at the end of the film, I flashed back to every interview I ever saw with George talking about the sequels over the years, always referring to Luke passing down Excalibur and immediately assumed she'd have to reforge it.

 

Double bladed made from the staff and the kyber in Anakin's Lightsaber.

That would be cool as hell. and make her use the double thing only at the end.

 

Since JJ is directing Episode IX, I think we can pretty much count on Rey wielding a double-bladed lightsaber.

It remains to be seen what color it gets. I wouldn't keep my hopes up for that fire-and-ice saber. It'll most likely be green or blue, although I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a yellow one, or even orange. Purple is simply out of the question, that color belongs to the mighty Mace Windu.

 

Since this trilogy is giving us the simplest most boring answers Rey will repair Ani's saber.

 

She'll build a green one to continue the rhyming with Luke. Double bladed would be really cool, but I just don't see it somehow.

 

I was thinking about this, but was also thinking how could it be different to darth maul. I was thinking about the showdown between her and luke. she started with the staff and then went to the light saber and it hit me, what about this...

as a shout out to the omited scene of Luke constructing his light sabre in RotJ that we see Close ups of the jedi texts and rey is looking in the book and constructing her own light saber, but she is going to add it to something she knows....her staff...but instead of it being double sided, that the saber hilt is part of the staff now, and if she needs the saber she can disconnect it and light it up, but part of the hilt is also part of the original staff...god im not explaining it very well. but think of the daggers in canes but as a light saber. and its also a way she doesn't bring attention to herself
