SPECULATION Romance - who falls for who in VIII?

We were talking about romantic ships, this has nothing to do with Luke and Vader. A more apt comparison would be Padmé and Anakin, specially in the second half of ROTS, and no, I would not be okay with his redemption there and Padmé dying of a "broken heart" over it is probably my single biggest grief with Star Wars. Luke and Vader was a father and son conflict. And to be redeemed Darth Vader had to die, so it's not the same.

John was doing chemistry tests with the candidates for a new female role, so this could possibly happen between them.

 

Luke and Rey.....

 

I found they keep finn and rey apart the first 75% of the movie the kiss will be theirs. If not it then we won't get one till 9. Anyone that thinks there will be no romantic attachment in a starwars trilogy is nuts

 

As was mentioned before,I'd want Poe to be father already,it would be interesting .Don't know about romantic relationships thought.Maybe Finn 'n Rey?When I watched the movie I thought they both were a bit attracted to each other.

There's going to be a kiss scene in episode 8. But there's no telling who it's gonna be with. I don't like it being finn and female cast member, or poe and rey. I cant see how they would do those romances without it feeling rushed. TFA moves at a blistering pace and second acts are usually faster. It would be hard to squeeze it in. And I just can't see Disney doing the ir or gay romance. Would "offend" to many people.

 

They almost cast a mixed girl to be kenobi's grand daughter and the two main characters from lost stars are an IR couple. When you look at the state of the world IR couples don't offent the majority just the minority, where LBGT couples offend the majority. Go with that and the fact they want rey to be a strong female icon you get this

• it won't be Rey and and
  random girl (offends too many people)
  random guy ( no time to build )
• it won't be Poe and
  random guy (offends too many people) /
  random girl( no time to build )
• it won't be Finn and
  random girl (no time to build)
  random guy (offends too many people)

Leaves only 1 option well 2 if you include R2 and BB-8

 

It'd be kind of sweet if Rey sees Finn again, and his s happy that she kind of impulsively plants one on him. And funny to.

 

Apparently that female role(s) will be greatly reduced ...

 

I still want her to be a villain. Perhaps a female member of the Knights of Ren.

Look, I think we all know exactly what will be happening in the romance department in either episode 8 or 9:

EXTERNAL. DAY. RESISTANCE BASE.
A ship lands and a man gets out
LANDO CALRISSIAN: So, Princess, I heard you were single again . . .

Personally I agree it's probably gonna be finn and rey. Hell i hope its finn and rey. The suit each other well. But I never count out a very vocal minority.

 

Poe/Phasma that was a rumor for awhile.

 

The one that they just reduced to a minor role?

My thing with a Finn Poe is this, can you sell it to a board room worried about families? how do you think joe six pack or jane doe will explain to little bobby or suesie why they just say guy x kiss guy why? Do you think the majority will want to have that conversation? There in lies the problem. It is more accepted today than it was but its not the norm

 

As for the new female character in a "minor" role: remember that technically Liv Tyler had a "minor" role in The Lord of the Rings. She's not in it very much in comparison to some of the other actors. Yet they built the film's biggest romantic subplot around her.

 

Most likely I see Finn / Rey, though Rey seemed to solidly put Finn in the friend zone there in TFA. As Daisy has said in interviews in terms of romance for Rey, "We shall see..." Honestly, I don't predict much for this trilogy in terms of a true romance... I could be totally wrong and pleasantly surprised, however.

I agree and disagree. I agree that Rey and Finn will mostly likely be an item in the coming episodes, but I disagree that she friendzoned Finn. If she would have friendzoned him, there wouldn't be a kiss goodbye she would have just walked away. As of the end of VII, they have a deep connection and are friends.
