Ok well, I have several answers to the OP's question:

I'm really not terribly excited about "Starkiller", as it reeks of "Death Star 3.0". Now I understand that this base is theoretically capable of collapsing an actual star (hence it's name), but perhaps I'm too much of a realist. Apparently Starkiller moves through space toward it's targets like the DS's did before, BUT the DS's were "in space" meaning that the living beings were inside of it, in a self contained ship. In this new case, the bad guys seem to be walking around on the surface, in daylight, breathing air, with a temperature that supports life WHILE moving from place to place in the galaxy....wow!

Then there's Vader's helmet...I don't know about that. When Luke burned Vaders empty armor on the huge pyre, it should've been incinerated but SOMEHOW it was recovered from the fire that was likely 1000+ degrees F while the Ewoks living there didn't happen to notice the stranger skulking around the neighborhood!!

I don't know, maybe there are excellent explanations to these things (at least I HOPE there is) that will make their existence perfectly logical. Until that time, It seems like lazy, re-hash story telling...and it kinda bums me out.

I know it sounds really gloomy, and I'm not typically that way. Can I have a hug? ;)

First have a free hug. You do sound gloomy.(ewok)

Second I don't think the planet moves. The code name catapult suggests it launches things a long way.

Third Luke burned Vader's armor some things burned, plastic around wires, cloth, leather, however I doubt ceramic or metallic elements would be completely consumed. Hence a charred, partially melted helm might be left behind in the pire sight.

i do not care for that.
Like I said before Star Wars is not National Geography documentary, it is a fantasy universe.

I want new designs. I do not find anything fun in seeing the same designs all over and over again. I like how PT designs where different and unique compared to OT. I expected the same from TFA.

Some old designs here and there is OK, but not like this where 99% of the movie are old designs.

That is a great point and from all indications in TFA, it is just larger and looks like two star destroyed on top of another. Again, NO advancements in technology or space crafts? What does that say about the empire?

well, they are not the EMPIRE, they are the FIRST ORDER...

seriously though, there has been some upgrades...

BTW! the U.S. still uses the 1955 B-52 bomber and an Aircraft Carrier in the
    USS Nimitz from 1975

Does Starkiller base have the ability to move? If it does wouldn't anything on the surface die as it move away from its sun? Freeze or get blistering hot. I imagined it just fired the laser or whatever at targets from great distances. Yikes

I don't mind the Vader burnt up helmet. Kind of like it actually. Not to be Capt obvious or nerdy but a bonfire reaches temps of 600 to just over 1000F. The helmet is made of some type of armor possibly transparisteel which is referenced in the books for ships. Steel melts +2600F so it could survive the funeral fire. Question is did Kylo use vaders remaining armor to build his getup?

    - the unoriginal planets. Should have used some totally new ones.
    - Kylo's mask looking too silly from some angles. Could have done a little better on that design.
    - Death Star v3. Yawn.
    - Not enough new ships. Boring.
    - The lack of Luke, so far

I doubt any of these will keep me from enjoying the film. I can think of a few other things/characters I don't care for, but nothing disappointing.

I may not remember this correctly but I believe I read somewhere that a sufficiently advanced society - so advanced they could actually steer their planet away from, say, an impending supernova - would have the means to produce enough artificial light to keep a day/night cycle, and that a planet's inner heat would be enough for sustaining life

ive seen one or two things yup ...

the costumes seem a bit off ... Michael kaplan ? never heard of him !

the director of photography dan mindel !? the lighting, the colors ... way too colorful, i wanted something more cold or colorgraded like nolan or fincher and its filmed on celluloid ? hello ! its 2015 now! progress is here guys use digital not that low res celluloid !

next is the practical effects of course i mean who wants to see that ?

last detail ...why isnt everyone in this movie 100% white ? i mean just look at how much diverse planet earth is so why would a thousand other planets include people who dont look the same ?

    edit: it was a joke

2 trolling 1 dissagree and 1 dislike

Having another superweapon. That being said, I do like the design quite a bit and the information released about it has all been promising. At this point, I can't say it bothers me much anymore. Just too excited for the movie!

Well, actually the Death Star gunners shooting at the Rebel fighters through open walls in ANH didn't wear spacegear, neither did the stormtroopers in the background. It's quite possible that even the Death Stars kept an artificial atmosphere, already as a natural deflector or incineration shield against smaller space debris particles.

According to the "accurate" screenplay from April 1976 Porkins (Red Six) had a problem with his power converter "running wild". I believe Biggs told him (to) "eject" (the power converter) but alternately Porkins could have ejected and survived in the Death Star's artificial atmosphere.

Think they finally realise that ne naming "Empire" was a little Fascist (bad for merchandising purposes).

On other hand i would't call it Empire on a 30 years thingy.

Man, if i could see now anything disappointing on a movie that only comes out in 5 weeks, i would go guessing LOTTERY TICKETS and wouldn't be here.
    (how screens this questions) ;)

Come back in four weeks, I dare the prediction that this particular thread could be at the pole position.

But I think it's fair to say that many don't feel exactly excited about the prospect to see another bigger and badder superweapon.
