The WORST thing that could happen in TLJ

Lack of a Luke/Leia reunion even telepathically. Think we need that. Don't care if that's fan service.

Also, some vindication for Luke and Leia. Their lives have been so tragic. At least for Luke, being back and feeling part of a new "family" and helping Rey bring peace to the galaxy in some supportive way. I know he's been reclusive, but it would be nice for him to feel a sense of belonging as part of a group again. At least by Ep9

 

the worst in my opinion would be another death star kind of weapon. Also to much stupid evil (like killing the villagers in TFA) would be quite bad..... not seeing a white saber maybe too...

 

I think Leia will die in orbit around Ach-too when she brings the resistance fleet there to try and save Luke and Rey from FO, and Knights of Ren.

 

The worst thing ever would be if they changed Kylo's facial scar for some completely arbitrary aesthetic reason...

Kylo had Bactox treatments. It moved his scar way to the left similar to how multiple Botox treatments moved Senator Tim Kaine's eyebrows two inches up.

 

I doubt I'll hate TLJ as much as TFA. The fact that LucasFilm cannot hide behind the coattails of the OT this time around. Also, I personally believe that Rian Johnson is a much better director than Abrams. But to be fair; I cannot stand Abrams(Emperor with no pants) and I do love RJ. But if I where to nail down four things I wouldn't approve about this movie. It is as follows.

4) Not addressing the map/ looser elements of TFA: For certain; we shall see what happened to Luke's temple, the Knights of Ren and what Luke had been doing since. But the map still confuses me. Why leave a map? For what purpose. Even if it is a dumb explaination, I'll still take it over not just going over it. Because, much as I do not like TFA that much, it is still a part of the ST. Unless, TLJ wants to forget TFA which a part of me is fine with. But we should at the end of the movie; get a better idea of Snoke; where he might come from, and what is his end goal plan.


3) The rest of the characters: I'm not talking about Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo. Those individuals will get development. But really, the other side characters. Phasma is the biggest offender. What a wasted opportunity. Next to Oscar Isaac, I feel awful for Gwendolyn Christie. She should have fought Finn. Plain and simple. Hence, why I am glad a comic is coming out focused on her. I digress.

Showcase her competence as a captain, and have her really make the First Order that much more terrifying. Especially, towards Finn. She's his rival. His Kylo Ren. The next is Maz Kanta. Decent character who I argue was mystery box Yoda. Let's see who she is. What eras did she live in? What does she think of the Jedi? Especially, given she is a Force Sensitive.

What is her connection with Luke? Or even Rey? And finally, Leia. I want to see more of her and in her element: politics. That is right. I am not a fan of the PT era's showcasing of politics, but it isn't a bad concept. Especially, if it is done with a character most people like. And besides, I want Carrie Fisher's last portrayal to be something to remember.

I know Rian Johnson is more than capable; so I hope he can work his magic there.


2) Not enough World building: TFA sucked at this and really I write it off as a specious TV pilot. The OT while it had world building, its simple premise of rebels vs Empire enabled not as much world building. Though, if you listen to ESB; there is quite a bit with Lando and the Mining Guilds. Same with ANH with the round table sequence.

Like it or not; we've been introduced to the PT era where the world was fleshed out. TLJ needs to be a blend of that intimate story with that expansive world building SWs is known for. Like KOTOR. By the end of the movie, I want to know the stakes of the conflict; why both the FO and Resistance are fighting and who are the major players involved in this war.

This cannot be Galactic Civil War diet edition. This conflict needs to be fleshed out. Other wise, what is the point?


1) Flesh out Rey and everyone else: Luke Skywalker, I'm skipping because no doubt he's going to get a big bulk of development. But Rey needs it. I found her one of the weakest elements. A shame because I like the actress, her performance and the concept. Her backstory, while important, I find it next to useless, if the character isn't fleshed out in the now.

I want to know who Rey is at the start of the movie, and who she is by the end. Does she embrace the Jedi? Reject them? Does she go to the path of darkness? Light? She needs a massive overhaul. Luckily, Rian specializes in intimate characterization and I hope he devoted a lot of time to her. Finn; I want to see more of the soldier in him.

Make him less comedic relief and actually showcase competence as a fighter. And Poe Dameron; please do NOT waste Oscar Isaac. He's super talented and his comic is so good. I want to see Poe within the Resistance. How doe she view this war? Does he want to live up to the legacy of his folks? And really, how he interacts with Rey?

Yeah, I bet a lot of people neglected that. How can anyone buy these guys as the new trinity, if they haven't bounced off of each other? Overall, I apologize for being verbose but really I didn't want to say don't be like ESB. Because A) it won't be simply due to RJ and LucasFilm not being so stupid and B) I find it is a vapid point for TFA said to hell with context for this movie.

As such, it is time for the mystery-box, most of it, bad as it is; to be opened. And I hope the payoff is decent.

 

The worst for me would be no info or backstory on the Knights of Ren, they seem very interesting and Id love to know more about them. Also it'd be sweet to see a first order super SD or two and new fighters for both sides.

What if there is a lightsaberfight including Snoke. What will then happen to the coreography? Please don´t make it look like Duuku/palpatine´s randomly waving against Yoda...

 

Snoke's actions are justified, can't happen, just can't happen.

 

Ryan Johnson could pay homage to Harrison Ford's original nick name for David Prowse and introduce a character called 'Darth Farmer". David Prowse could then come back and do the voice over in his thick Bristol accent.

Got bored, so i decided to combine all the worst possible events for ep VIII, and combine them into the worst possible ending for The Last Jedi. Hope you (don't) appreciate it. Here it goes :

Luke : well, i have a sad news foe you kiddo, now be a good boy and DIE !
* Rey ignites the blue lightsaber behind Luke's back
Rey : i can't let you do that !
Luke : what are you doing, girl ?
Rey : i ... I love him !
Luke : WHAT ?
Kylo : what ??
Rey : and I'm NOT YOUR GIRL !
Luke : ... well, it's probably not a good time to tell you this, but....

Luke : i have kept this a secret all this time ...
Rey : are you gonna tell me, or what ?
Luke : Rey, you are my ... my ... my.. daaaargh..
* Luke expires his final breath.
Rey : oh come on !
Kylo : i can't beleive i finally did it !
Rey : hm ? Hello ? I'm the one who did all the work !
Kylo : after all this time, all the sacrifice i had to go through to acquire my powers. He's finally dead !
Rey : .... whatever. So what now ?
Kylo : since the Academy, beating Luke was my sole purpose in my life.
Kylo/Ben : i pledge myself to the darkside to defeat him, but now ...
Rey : so you're telling me you have no use for the darkside anymore ?
Ben : I .... I don't know what to do now...
Rey : well, I have an idea. Come here...
* Rey approaches Kylo and starts kissing him.

Haha, funny dialogue! Luke can't die, he's confirmed for episode IX. The worst possible thing is that Luke will just be a mentor and have a bit part through both movies. Leaving the main star, Rey to do the lightsabering. Kids these days don't even know who Luke Skywalker is. If he gets a good character arc and does some duelling, I'll ve happy, then kids can appreciate how awesome he was and still is. He doesn't want to be a Jedi anymore, apparently.

 

I certainly have my thoughts about what would be the worst thing to happen in TLJ... while this might not be at the top of the list, it is high up the charts:

Uber-Powerful, Force-God Luke Skywalker.

To me, it is just really not who his character evolved to be in the OT. But I have every confidence this will not happen for both that reason and the fact that the ST is about the new characters, not the old ones. From reading this thread, however, there will undoubtedly be at least a few disappointed fans since Luke no longer "twirls the lightsaber fantastic" any more...

 

Careful here : Luke could easily be just a Force Ghost in Ep IX...

 

Rose doesn't survive this movie,

 

If you get your wish the last of the EU diehards will leave the fanbase.

 

They have already figured out how to do this Vader in RO was both dynamic, powerful but did not invoke the emperor and Yoda air ballet (which I didn't mind). Luke will use his sabre but you won't get crazy flurishes.

 

Luke dying would be the obvious choice here.
Cyborg Finn comes in a very close second.
All Chrome no kick a$$ Phasma would be third.
Knights of Ren not being Force Users (like what would be the point?)
SK 2.0 (no more planetary super weapons)
Any tie back to Plagueis
