There's a tiny difference here. Vader is evil and him doing evil things has a purpose, to make the audience hate him or fear him even more. Leia is a "good guy", so her doing something similar, if not addressed within the movie, could speak to deafness. This isn't a hill I would die on, and perhaps there's something in the novelization that addresses it (ex: I was so frustrated, but I couldn't rightly court martial him due to the dire situation we were in, but I had to vent and release that anger. It frightens me that I behaved remotely similar to my father at his worst.), or I can create some fan fiction. Had Luke slapped Rey in similar fashion, out of anger, I don't think it would have gone over so well. I think it would at least have to be addressed within the movie. Maybe I'm wrong.

Fair point. The gag reel of Leia slapping Poe is pretty funny though. I personally wasn't bothered by it. Then again, I have a pretty good sense of humor and i don't get easily offended.

The Force choke is about 2 min at best, it's not a recurring theme during the whole movie. And yes, it made Vader evil.

There is not an evil threat who is a credible one in TLJ.

Even the supreme leader Kylo Ren didn't have the gut to tell his gimp Hux that he was the one who killed Snoke.

Oh and I don't know why these guys are always yelling. They just look completely delusional.

And that is why, for the most part, I avoid Facebook posts and even the YouTube comment sections. In the real world, plenty of people feel as if it is okay to act like an a$%^ole and stay stupid crap. On the internet it seems amplified thanks to anonymity. And you are right, it does muddy the water and ruin it for those of us with legitimate gripes (such as "Why not make Rose Tico a more well developed character?" or "I think Rey is simply overpowered and needs to have a true moment or two of real failure.)

At the end of the day, I hope and pray that The Clone Wars final season starts to bring us together again. I also hope JJ can hit a homerun and get this thing back on track. Whether or not one likes TLJ I think it should be pretty obvious the film was divisive. I love going to the cinema to see Star Wars and if LFL can't figure this thing out we might get a stoppage on films, which would truly suck, even if it is only for a couple of years (I'm upset there is no film this December!).

If only they left Solo in December. I think Solo would of done better and had more time to market the film. I mean, is Mary Poppins really that big of a deal of a movie?

That I can agree on. I'm not going to see the movie anyways, so I don't care about it.

Well, going to watch a Mary Poppins film will probably just bring back too many painful memories for some Star Wars fans.

Author P.L. Travers really disliked the 1964 movie quite alot and clashed with Walt Disney. She probably wouldn't have liked this sequel coming out either.

I don't need to see a Mary Poppins sequel.

I think the threads were a good idea but, IMHO, they should have been structured in such a way that you were not allowed to participate in the thread if you didn't agree. I really think there should be a place where people can talk about how great/awful the movie is without constantly being harassed by the "other side". Let the "loved it" crowd have a place they can go to talk uninterrupted about how great it is, and let the "hated it" crowd have a place they can go uninterrupted about how awful it is.

I am not a mod, but I'd bet any amount of money the "hated it" thread caused a lot more headaches than the "loved it" thread. The reason why this thread is causing headaches is because of all the arguing. For some reason, the "loved it" crowd cannot accept that a large percentage of people didn't like this movie, so they spend a great deal of time in the "hated it" thread arguing with (and often criticizing) the people who didn't like the movie. There are still "neutral" threads where we can all discuss the pros and cons, but when it comes to those profusely praising or criticizing the movie, IMHO everyone should have just stayed in their respective corners. I know I sure did.

TLJ was deliberately made to be divisive. If you weren't into Reylo you were going to be disappointed. Then people are surprised some have no interests in Star Wars anymore. It's not hard to understand. Attempting to elevate one character above another has turned off the audience. I don't see Rey or Kylo anymore important than any other character in the movie. Anytime people want to talk about them I just roll my eyes.

Unfortunately you are always going to get trolls. Heck, you get people in real life that say things which make my head spin. It's like they haven't developed a filter and they just say whatever comes into their heads.

I am able to avoid all of that negativity because I don't spend much time on Facebook (actually I don't even know why I have that account as I'm never on it) and I don't pay attention to comments on YouTube. I know this sounds haughty, but I'm too busy to do that. I don't care what people, for the most part, think. I watch/listen to the video and move on.

LOL, Oh my goodness, I wonder has this guy spent time in this forum because he directly addresses a number of arguments we have heard here.

Naturally if you didn't like TLJ you'll agree with almost 100% of his points, if you liked TLJ you'll probably disagree or find fault with 100% of his points. I think his point about SW fatigue was really on point. There is no SW fatigue. I mean look at us, it's almost a year later and whether you liked it or hated it, we are STILL talking about TLJ. How can there be fatigue or timing issues when we know that when some fans like a movie they'll go see it multiple times in theater?

And what's even more interesting is that, I don't think ANYONE went into the movie wanting to hate it, regardless of where you land on the spectrum of Loved it/Hated It now, before it arrived the overwhelming majority of fans were excited for it and WANTED to love it.

Totally agree dude. Starwars fatigue is a myth. It's fake news. Call it whatever you want, but the idea that after having one film once a year for three straight years we are "fatigued" by Star Wars is ludicrous at best. We want GOOD Star Wars films. Had they actually had some sort of a plan, instead of the ad hoc mess they've served up, things would be far different.

Also if there is fatigue, are they pushing EPIX out to 2020? 2021? You know because, we're "tired" and fatigued? Or are they still planning to have another Star Wars movie next year, bringing the total to 5 in 5 years? The only thing on par with how bad TLJ was (IMO) was the PR campaign to defend it. They could not have done this any worse if they tried.
