lol, yeah sure the RT score was all fine in well before, but start seeing positive reviews? Oh my gawd, lets panic! It's not real! It can't be! Buddy, most of 'em were already fake before Glad you're finally starting to see it. Just to be clear: i'm referring to the tweets.

I guess the fear is that a bunch of Star Wars fans who liked the film decided to star rigging it the other direction. Oh dear, what would they have to talk about!??

Reading the comment section was more entertaining then the actual video. The like/dislike ratio is almost 50/50 with more likes then dislikes. Perfectly sums up the film in a nutshell.

Yes, yes, the reviews are fake. We obviously can't trust them.

Just by the by, have we come up with a reason why "the fans" aren't buying the blu-ray of TLJ since "so many of them" liked it?

For some reason this triggered you so I apologize. Do you think The Last Jedi is the reason psychical media sales were down 10+% year over year the past two years? Is The Last Jedi the reason Redbox revenue has fallen billions? Or just maybe there are other factors at work. :)

The relentless negativity about this film from people who don't like it is toxic. This is a thread for people who love the film. At least cut us some slack here. I hated AotC. I didn't spend six months complaining about it and that was truly a horrible film.

Also, total box office in 2017 was a 3 year low for the industry.

"Thanks to the worst summer in a decade, U.S. movie admissions slid 6% last year to 1.24 billion for the lowest number since 1995,"

People aren't seeing movies like they used to... Which is partly why the future of the franchise might start titling towards the streaming service.

The reason I don’t go to the movies or even watch new movies in general is because TV is producing better quality stories.

10-15 years ago, I either went to the movies or rented a movie every weekend. Now I’d rather binge some cable/streaming show on weekends. The problem is the movie industry got taken over by mindless blockbusters year round now and that just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve been binging the last season of The Americans, Better Call Saul and The Crown lately and that is far more interesting then seeing The Avengers, Jurassic World or Deadpool.

The only reason I still care about SW is because the franchise still cares about the story and characters and it isn’t some mindless blockbuster that is relies on wowing people. I look back 20 years ago and you some great summer blockbusters that appealed to adults like Apollo 13, The Firm, Saving Private Ryan, Cop Land, etc. Now it’s all comic book movies, action movies, sequel, prequel. No thanks, there are too many good shows right now to binge then waste time with unoriginal movies.

I only go for Marvel and Star Wars. So, I will see Ant-Man and The Wasp. Yeah, there are more easier ways to consume the same content. Other then the crowd experience, you can get the same quality at home nowadays vs actually being there.

I still see a movie a week or so but find myself tiring of the superhero flicks. I didn't see the first Ant Man in the theaters and I really don't care about the sequel. I find smaller films more interesting. I just recently saw The Rider and it was amazing, but I doubt many people will even see it. Black Panther was decent and the Avengers was a pretty dull film. On it's own it's terrible. It only works because of the other films. Which is fine. Marvel has moved towards a serial style.

"Unoriginal movies." I argue that all fiction that you consume is based on something. I mean, George Lucas wanted to make a Flash Gordon movie, and came up with Star Wars.

Well duh. It'd be like seeing TLJ as your first SW movie... and SW is based of off that serial style, fyi.

Really enjoyed the film the first time i saw it and since then I've watched it numerous times and gets better every time i watch it. It's the middle film and sometimes that can drag by as you wait for the conclusion but this film did a great job of leaving things open for episode IX and leaving plenty of things open for interpretation until the conclusion. I enjoyed the story Arc of Rey and Kylo and enjoyed Mark's performance as Luke as well. I thought some of the scenes were beautifully shot and created some stunning and powerful images that i associate most with SW.

There were a couple of negatives from the film though. I didn't enjoy the whole Rose/Finn plot. I found the character of Rose bland and difficult to take to and found this story arc really didn't flow with the film and the whole Canto Bight scene definitely slowed some of the momentum. Also found some of the comedic elements do not hold up at all after the first viewing.

But overall i enjoyed the film every time i have watched it and discover something new with each viewing.

    i'm kinda done with Marvel.
i will probably go see the second Infinity War, but i'm all superheroed out, i think.
i love Tom Hardy, but i don't even want to go see Venom.

@Jedi77-83 is also right. there's just so much content and it's all relatively accessible these days.
going to the movies is also very expensive, so i'd rather save it for events or those movies i'm really burning to see.

Yes, many things like The 1977 Star Wars that are based off of something from before, but that is much different then a straight sequel that is totally unoriginal. Just look at what has come out this summer so far: The Avengers, Dead Pool, Solo, Oceans 8, Jurassic World, all sequels/prequels that are no different then most blockbusters these days. Atleast back in the day, you had movies like ET, Star Wars, The Terminator, Back to the Future, as these were movies that brought something new and original to the moviegoer rather then today when we get another comic book movie or another sequel from a popular franchise. Honestly, that is why I'd rather binge watch a TV show these days over any movie that is currently out.

Now this is an awesome video. He makes some really good points about the... lesser appreciated parts of the movie, like Rose. And clever hater-bashing is always welcome too.
