SPECULATION What weapon will Finn wield?

A blaster seems like a no brainer.

I think it would be cool if he took over Han's blaster, but I'd be happy with any blaster.

 

I voted light saber and voted for traditional blue or green. I really hope when Snoke said, "the Jedi will rise" that Finn will be one of those Jedi. I enjoyed his character and can't wait to see what they do with him in the next movie.

 

Another black Jedi with a purple LIGHTSABER ...

 

I hope he has both. I hope he becomes a Jedi Knight from Luke or Rey but that doesn't mean he never uses a blaster again.

 

the more i think about it the more clear it is to me that Finn is not meant to be Force sensitive; at least not in TFA.

Finn gets the saber and loses. it's not because he can't use the thing, but because Kylo Ren is strong with the Force. Rey defeats Kylo Ren only after she senses and taps into the Force, something Finn did not do.

that sequence alone shows that Finn loses because he can't/didn't tap into the Force, and that Rey won because she could/did.

sure, Finn used a lightsaber, but he's no Jedi. (at least, not yet)

 

Finn could become the first "Jedi" with no powers ...

 

If Finn does end up being force sensitive then he will probably use a lightsaber, otherwise I think he will stick will the blaster he was using throughout TFA.

 

You think that he could have a one time use with the aver just like Han Solo ?

 

It would be interesting to see him continue using a lightsaber. He has shown that he can use it relatively well so if he ended up receiving training with it he could still be very dangerous with it even if he isn't force sensitive.

 

What happened to Rey in terms of discovering and using the force is a first. (in the movies)

Both Luke and Anakin were told about the force and taught how to use it by a Jedi.

don't get me wrong... i don't know if Finn is FS, but i don't think that because he didn't sense the force and use powers like Rey is a good enough reason to discount it.

I just think that a certain percentage of the viewing audience will find it confusing if he never picks up a lightsaber again.

 

I'm confident that he's not force sensitive, so I doubt it'll be a lightsaber. It's possible that he'll carry a melee weapon though, but he'll definitely be carrying some sort of blaster.

 

A blaster obviously, he seems quite good with those. It'd be kind of cool if he inherits Han's old "classic" blaster from ANH, since the one that Han gave to Rey was different.

IF he ends up being FS, then a lightsaber of course.

If not, then some other kind of cool melee weapon. I mean Riot Trooper was pretty darn good with that electric baton thing, so you don't necessarily NEED a lightsaber to be effective in a melee fight.

 

Do star wars characters work on our rules. Or do we just make up rules for them based on the actions we see on film. As you said, you don't necessarily need a lightsaber...but what benefits would their be to not having one?

Finn is going to continue to use a lightsaber. Him using it in 7 is probably foreshadowing for the next two episodes, plus it represents his change from the dark side to the light side.

 

I love the blaster saber for Finn. That would be great. What I actually voted for was an electrostaff to start with, but I think he ends up with a lightsaber again eventually that's FS or not. To me a blaster is a no brainer most Jedi are not exclusive to the lightsaber. Unless your, Yoda, Palpatine or vader a blaster comes in handy sometimes. Oh yeah I like orange as a lightsaber color, but I somehow think purple is a better guess.

 

I think that, whatever Finn ends up with, will be something sleek and fast and physical just like his character is .
