TLJ is sadly such a depressive movie and a big gut punch in breaking away from family themes. Star Wars has always been about family, but this new approach does not make me invested in Rey and co. A sad day that I will never watch another Star Wars movie in cinema.

Seems to be the political thing now to alleviate pressure from ones self. ''Oh no, blame a Russian town on the border of Mongolia for all our problems''

Yeah I'm also amazed at that. How people are angry at Yoda for allegedly destroying the books..............he didn't :p

For me, it's one of the worst in the saga. This is my opinion, and it is my *informed* opinion. Don't tell me I missed details or the themes flew over my head. I know every single line of dialogue in this movie, it just didn't do it for me - and I am not saying that anyone who enjoyed this movie is wrong to have enjoyed it!

I'm glad people could enjoy it though, I love Star Wars, I still love Star Wars even after this film. I just have to reduce my expectations going forward, and maybe turn towards some of the other media to enjoy the feeling and the stories I love. I still have hope that there are places for the franchise to go that will be enjoyable for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could tell some things had to be cut, feels like we're missing a scene or two on Ach-to... what's the third lesson??
I feel like Rey took a little bit of a back seat in this one to Luke and that's ok, I think the interesting thing about her character is that she's unwavering in her strength in the light side. She went right down into the dark place and all it could do was show her a reflection of herself. I like that the drive within her is her desire to learn more, to embrace the force within herself. She's basically the perfect student. The Jedi texts are in good hands. Love that Yoda punked Luke, I'm sure Yoda knew that Rey had the books.

Really wish they had kept the scene that showed how Rey got from Snokes ship to the Falcon, would love to see what Snoke's escape ship looks like.

She didn't leave the lightsaber halves. we get a Rey Saber next movie with the Anakin crystal!

I like the new themes layered onto the old. Let go of the past, save what you love, you can find hope anywhere, there force is in everyone.

I don't get why people are hating on it... and I don't really care. Few movies are perfect. Even fewer can when it's the 2nd, 5th... 8th... in a series.

I guess Rey is a "nobody"... maybe the Skywalker line ends with the next movie, with perspective their Heroic story line ended with Luke redeeming Anakin.

But... I don't REALLY think Ben knows who Rey's parents were. He thinks he knows. And does Rey say he's right? (Semi-trolling observation).

Two things I would have changed:

Admiral Akbar destroys the star destroyer going light speed. It should have been Akbar, I don’t want to sound negative but I think this is how it originally was until it was changed.

Luke appears in person and fights Kylo

That’s it. Everything else i didn’t really have a big issue with. Force stuff was great

I don't think Luke could kill his Nephew, he felt to responsible. so an in person fight and sacrifice wasn't needed. His force projection ability is awesome, and that moment when we realize he's levititating on Ach-to was awesome! The shock in the audience was amazing.

Yeah Ackbar doing it and Holdo being a new character going forward would of been good.

I do have to say I love the way the Kylo Luke "fight" was handled. I liked it's classic martial arts/western gunfight cues with the adjustments in stances and close ups.

Love the scene where Yoda says there was nothing in the tree that Rey did not already possess. He knew she had those books, which I love. :)

It's okay. Coming from a guy who's been emotionally dead for two years when it comes to Star Wars (Han Solo's death really messed me up), I think I'd see TLJ again.

I can see why people love it, but I can also see why people hate it. Like everything else in life, I'm the one in the middle, like the Bendu. ;)

I also love all the hints that Luke wasn't really there. Whatever people say about the film, they can't fault the small touches from a technical standpoint. Even if it's a "stupid" scene, there is soooo much thought in them.

Like no red prints in white sand, earlier Poe saying there's no other way inside and then Luke appears (how he get in? Lol), he apparently looks younger like in Ben flashback, he has no robot hand, he has his blue lightsabre that ain't real because Rey and Kylo destroyed it, and last and by no means least, the little knowing wink he gives c3po.

Appreciate this film so much for that.

Can I just say... I loved EVERY HUX scene. He's so over the top and I love how the dynamic changes and he becomes just like all the Generals that questioned Vaders belief in the force.

My biggest complain about the Disney Star Wars right now is the MCUing of every scene. You cannot have a serious, dramatic scene in any MCU movie without someone cracking a stupid joke. That is not Star Wars, this was an epic of good and evil. Seriously, "a did you hear me now" joke to start the movie? The first scene with Rey and Luke and that is his reaction? Very MCU type reaction.

I do not mind how they are changing the story. This is not my Star Wars, it is my son and daughter's star wars. This is a very SJW time in society and I would expect that SW would reflect those cultural narratives. It was a good movie, but as far as driving story, it was weak.

I hated his first scene. General hugs bleh. Uneeded humour to start the movie, marvel level.

But I also loved his non humorous moments; reaching for his blaster before Kylo wakes up, snarking angrily for the troops to stop firing at Luke and trying to back talk Kylo who then force slaps him violently, and then the look he gives Kylo at the end, unimpressed but also calculating. He's gonna try to do pull a coup in IX. Guaranteed.

"Pathetic" story? That is surprising to hear. Been a fan for over 40 years, and I was thrilled to see what happened to Luke, Kylo, the Jedi Academy and why Luke was lost.

I loved how he redeemed like Vader, but not because of "good/bad" but because of "hope/despair". I liked that Luke had "grown up", lost his way, and then after a chat with Yoda comes back to save Leia, the Rebels and remind us of what a true hero he is.

I also liked how his story mirrored Kenobi in the sense of guilt over a failed pupil. Bottom line, I found it very thought-provoking, in a good way.
