There is no defenitive answer for this, there a so many fans with their own idea of how star wars should be that is almost impossible that the new films or anything new, star wars related, will pleasse them 100%

Is there a citation for this? I don't remember PH ever saying making this statement. I Googled this and I only found you making this claim on two different forums. PH deleted his old tweets, but I don't ever remember this coming up before and we spent a great deal of time discussing PH's statements about Rey.

And many people did keep screenshots. I don't think he ever said this or it was a misinterpretation on your part. "Battle dress" would be a huge clue about Rey that us nerds would have debated for months. Since you seem to be the only source for this I'll have to say I'm not convinced until someone can produce a screen shot.

It is entirely your prerogative to believe it or not. I am not interested in getting into some bickering match with you.

I know what I read and that is enough for me.

    Still a Tide Pod commercial?

Seriously though, this could work for a variety of reasons.

    1) We know the Jedi's powers in the force were diminished during the Clone Wars, as Mace Windu reveals in AotC.

    2) It's very possible we'll see a new time period in the Benioff/Weiss series, which could further explore this waxing and waning of the Force.

    3) Obviously, it could explain a lot of what's going on in the Sequel trilogy.

Nothing. So far the trilogy has been amazing, and on par with the original movies. I mean they're 2/3, so unless they try to cater to some of these amateur fanfic, prequel level ideas of "cool STAR WARS" that some people have been pitching around as "necessary", they can do no wrong.

I mean, they're certainly better than ROTJ. Don't get me wrong most of that movie is great, but a lot of it is rough.

Well ROTJ is one movie not a trilogy. You have every right to think that but next time just think would you rather have this side plot [IMG]
    or this

Yes, but this discussion is on what is needed to fix the sequels as a trilogy.

I said they're on par. That means as good as. However, with ESB being my favorite film, and TLJ being my third I'm of course going to take ESB over TLJ every time. However, I'd also argue against Han and Leia's plot in ESB being the sideplot. I think Han and Leia is the primary plot of ESB as a film, and Luke training with Yoda is the secondary plot that only becomes the primary one when looked at through the lens of the rest of the series.

Also, as others have pointed out the two plots serve different purposes, and play a different role in the structure of their respective movies. The Han and Leia plotline in ESB is a chase sequence, and serves as the main vehicle for the plot of the film. It's structured as the main event that determines the setting, and stakes of the third act. Meanwhile, the Finn, Rose, and DJ plotline serves as the secret mission, to the greater siege plot taking place on the Raddus. The secret mission is of course a common trope of siege films, and I actually think that plotline handles that role relatively well, however I do feel like more time should have been taken to flesh out the events on Canto Bight, and give more emotional connection to that setting.

For real. Would you rather have this character?

    Or this one?

Both trilogies are great in their own ways, and arbitrary fixed match ups don't really tell us anything.

That's a pretty good point. While Luke's time on Dagobah is arguably more important for the series, I think that the action with Han and Leia actually propels the story forward.

After all, if not for them, Luke would have just ended the movie continuing his training as usual. Instead of heading back to the main plot like Finn and Rose did, Han and Leia brought the rest of the movie to them.

Random fixed match? I am comparing the quality not the story purpose of the mid movie side plot. That is not arbitrary at all.

    With the Rose/Finn, Han/Leia thing?

I don't know, I think it's apples and oranges. Call it what you want, I guess.

Like @CnlSandersdeKFC said, though- it's arguable that the Han Leia stuff wasn't even a side plot. I'm not sure it's fair to compare them.

crazy as it is the Han story of ESB was a side plot. Luke is the lead and he is off learning the force. It is proof of the quality of that side quest that we have trouble even thinking of it in those terms. Finn and Rose definitely feel like a forced story just to give the characters something to do rather than an organic story beat.

There is still a chance that Abrams might produce and direct a Sequel Trilogy film that I can admire.

But considering that I have a low opinion of the other two films in the trilogy, I honestly don't see how this trilogy can be "saved" . . . at least for me.
