My respect to this you said man.

Honestly, the fadom would be perfect if any opinion would be accepted equally.

For instance mine own that film is dangerously close to a bad film and a faliure, in my eyes.

TFA was the dream setting up mystery. TLJ was reality, almost a shattering deconstruction.

Like Rey and her parents. TFA sets them up as your standard mystery Q:"who left Rey on Jakku? In contrast, TLJ asks:Who (as in what kind of person would abandon a child) left Rey on Jakku? And provides an uneasy uncomfortable answer to reveal the "mystery".

    I loved it.

It's also unapologetic about it, which is refreshing, especially after TFA (which I loved). Films aren't role-playing games, they're stories we engage with but don't participate in, as much as many fans think they participate in the narrative (again, an irony about the criticism of Rey's character). If fans want to judge the rules by which the Force, fictional space science, and characters, then they're always going to be disappointed. It's weird we haven't learned this 18 years after 'midichlorians' and space Jesus.

And people calling out ST as making no sense and being bad, but refusing to talk about PT with Jar Jar and nonsensical plot elements. Like the clone army, noone questions it. What the.

The OT fans want SW to be unchanging; the Skywalker family saga they know and love forever. The problem is that would get stale fast, without new faces and things to talk about.

TLJ didn't give a fig for what fans wanted, or cared, it just got on with it and didn't treat us like idiots as so many marvel movies do. Heck, Kylo is an actual complex villain! I'm excited for IX to see what he does.

Incredible post. Very glad someone had the time to write it out like this, because I feel almost exactly the same. While I will admit there are some parts that feel kinda rushed and sloppy (mainly the Finn Rose adventure) there are so many parts that were beautifully crafted like Yodas cameo, Rey's relationship with Kylo, and even Luke's death. I'm not one to go see movies multiple times, but I'd you absolutely hated the movie, read more posts and discussions such as this one and I would highly recommend going for a second time.

Midichlorians were a reasonable addition to the lore that don't affect nearly as much as fans are led to believe and space Jesus ended up plunging the galaxy into an era of turmoil.

That awkward moment when you realize that there are two Star Wars role-playing games that have far better stories and characters than this trilogy.

I'm going in a few days! Finally got a decent seat.

Space Jesus was also acted badly thanks to GL. He had a great sand line.

That awkward moment you disagree. Movies and games are not comparable media. One has what, 1-2.5 hours to tell a story. Not saying Kotor is a bad game or anything, but it has hours to set up a plot and carry it out.

    And TLJ was good.

Most Star Wars fans are like Most Comic Book fans ie they like there universe how it is and don't want it change. I am in the minority of Comic Book/Star Wars fandom I want change and innovation in my works, after all I am a writer myself. I can understand their mentality but when people have their theories and expectations, I tell with that and the kind of trailer culture we live in that will effect how you feel about any film which is bad IMHO.

We would have hated Carth in a film. lol

We would have called Malak a flat villain.

I'm not sure fans would have liked re-wiring somebody's brain considering every extension of Force powers puts half of fans into an uproar. That device works beautifully when you're the character in the game.

I don't see why we can't compare them, I have played plenty of games with much better writing than this trilogy.

Undermining an entire saga's worth of thematic progression whilst being the eighth film in a saga makes it good? Is that what you like about it?

And I have watched better movies than TLJ.

I'm talking about story time and differences in media; an RPG has hours of hours of story content, needing to account for player choice and character alignment. You're always spoiled for choice with them.

But TLJ is a movie. A non interactive 1-2.5 hour thing. You just sit down and watch it, eat something or drink something sometimes. Something you can't do with games.

It's like one story branch. With no choice. Heck if TLJ was an RPG I'd make made different choices in some places.

Again, this in my humble opinion, feel free to disagree with me:)

I'd did the exact same thing as you did. I bought a ticket, I sat down, and I watched it. All 2.5 hours. And I enjoyed it and I liked it. Unlike you.

For me it didn't undermine the entire saga, but it was new and different. What the ST needed to be. It wasn't perfect, it had its flaws. But it didn't ruin SW for me.

The OT ain't perfect. The PT is even less perfect. And the ST, so far, is the same as the OT for me.

As long as you say "I think its a bad film and this is why" and not go "this is a bad film" or "everyone agrees this is a bad film", I'm okay with it.

No there is no hate, just slow understanding that in fact The Force vision in the film and new canon is true. Force has tide phase which delivers Light, life, and Force has ebb phase, that drags what was created into darkness, into death..

Ebb and The Last Jedi, my fear is, by the irony of the Universe we lieve in, acheived synchronicity.

my knoweldge of the canon helped me to see even things many others can't comprehend(Like for instance Luke fishing with 100 meter long spear-yap, he learned that on planet Lew'el from Force sensitive girl Aya Glon, I am going to see this scene again hoping I can attach with other fine details of new canon to......

One thing that I fear the most ,is "that " what supposed to be humor in the film. So let us prey "that " what is purportedly designated as humor in the film will hurt in less extent next time I watch the film.

Wow. I didn't know about the spear thing. Thanks for that.

Yeah. Humor was weakest part of the film for even me. It's "jokes" were about as funny as my teeth surgery. Meaning not very fun at all.

Just think about Reylo titanic collapse, and how better my jokes are.
