Clouded is an opinion on your post not an insult on you. When you get hostile and say 'Who cares what you think!' on a thread where we're all posting our opinions is just plain Trolling. You want better ratings then you should cool the attitude and just debate the person's post honestly and respectfully. Once again you haven't explained the comment I was referring to.

    This comment.

I have no issue with someone disagreeing with me and have consistently posted that I respect the opinion of whoever I'm debating with including you if I'm not mistaken. I've also been consistently respectful with my posts. Someone getting hostile with me, however, is another matter. You don't have to agree with me. In fact, I'm happy to agree to disagree but hostility has no place here.

I don't see your comment. Put it back.

I'm not hostile over you, I just think that your points are partials. That you would change the whole story and interpret it the way it supports the only theory that pleases you.

This girl has some good points. If I was Rey, I would be upset too.

The comment is the first quote in my post. We are all doing that. Our interpretation of the movies, books, interviews, etc. are always going to be the basis of the opinions we form and theories we support. It's not changing the story, it's hypothesizing where we think it's going to go and why. Debating back and forth is what makes threads like this one fun. We're exchanging ideas and gaining insight from each other that we might not have gotten otherwise and, if we're lucky, we might just manage to convince someone of our point of view though we all seem to be pretty entrenched in our positions at the moment. None of us really knows for sure what's going to happen so none of us have been proven wrong yet. There is no need to get angry or frustrated. If you disagree with me or someone else, just say so and tell us why.

The comment I made about what is a jedi ?

For me, a jedi is a force user who applies the jedi code, it's very simple isn't it ?

So I was asking you what is a jedi and you didn't answer me, that's why I didn't find the quote :D

And believe me or not but I try to be the most impartial as I can, I'm not in a side, it's just Luke having kids doesn't fit the whole story of the jedis and unless people can give me valid points, I won't change my views on what is a jedi which I just answered you.

I was referring to the part where you say ’you took off the part that you’re not comfortable with your theories’. What is a Jedi to me? When we just had the OT I thought of them like Knights of the Round Table from the Arthurian legend and I do believe there are some Arthurian influences in the OT’s depiction of The Jedi limited though it might be. With the PT they seemed to become a mix of the Night’s Templars and Byzantine Monks. They live by a code and are both warriors and peacekeepers. To me, the Jedi Code is a set of guidelines they live by rather than set in stone laws they must obey in order to be called a ‘Jedi’. Otherwise, how could any Jedi suggest that some of the code should be eliminated due to being outdated and no longer relevant and why would the Jedi Council have the power to do so? Unless it was somehow handed down to the Jedi by The Force itself, The Jedi Code is the creation of flawed beings who believed, at one time, that the codes were the right thing for the Jedi. They may have been right in their day and for many generations after but, with the Jedi Order destroyed along with most of the information about them and The only remaining Jedi already having familial attachments (his sister and nephew), The no attachment rule may not necessarily be right for him and the new order he forms if they too already have familial attachments. It’s also possible that’s part of the reason Ben went dark and destroyed it. We’ll find out as the trilogy continues.

My point is that the jedi code isn't only tied to attachment but I've never seen anyone discussing the other points so I was saying that people only care about that matter because they want Skywalker to have kids and it's not a really deep analysis of the whole code.

Peacekeepers, you got it right there. And that's the whole point of the fall of the jedi order and not attachment ( I'm sorry ). Jedis thought that they could bring peace by going at war and that's why they were arrogant and fooled themselves.

Anakin actually was a bit like some people here, he thought that the code wasn't valid because he only saw his own purpose and he couldn't get through that and it leads him to terrible acts like killing unarmed kids ( how terrible is that ? ) just because he was selfish and only thinking about his own self which is actually the opposite of the jedi spirit which is thinking to other people rather than themselves.

He has a lot of common with Judas in fact.

I don't think attachment is the cause of the Jedi's downfall or Anakin's necessarily. I think the reason attachment is what is talked about so much is because of the topic of this thread; is Luke Rey's father? As for the other parts of the code, They haven't really been enumerated very well and aren't seen as the cause/reason Anakin/the Jedi Order fell. In all honesty, I don't know the code verbatim myself just what was stated in the movies and what I've picked up in places like this.

Maybe it's the only point of the jedi code people know because it was the reason of the fall of Anakin and the one which is on the movie ?

Anakin always lived by his emotions, he couldn't let go, we discussed it back earlier. He was so deep in his attachments that he was becoming emotionnal because he feared to lose it and fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. It's not my point, it's Master Yoda. Train yourself to let go everything you fear to lose. All those things are not from me, it's in the movies. And my point is this is not gonna change for Luke, it's timeless and Yoda warns Luke that if he was going to Bespin, he will have some major issues with the dark side.

    http://www.yodaquotes.net

    Here is the jedi code.

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Isn't that the creed rather than the code? There is nothing in that about attachments that I can see. However, I do agree that it applies to Luke but I'm not sure how an attachment gets in the way of it. I believe Luke follows that but he still has attachments (Leia and Ben). Are you expecting Luke to cut himself off from his Sister and Nephew in order to be a Jedi?

    Really ?

Attachment to his mother, to Padme, to Ahsoka ? Yoda always told Anakin to let go. But Anakin couldn't he wanted to change reality but as a spiritual person you should know you can't change the world, you only can change yourself.

Didn't Luke let go everything by going to Acht-to ? Didn't Obi Wan did that too on Tattoine ? Yoda on Dagobah ?

That's the most difficult thing to do on a path to wisdom. Let go.

You also have that quote in the Rogue One trailer : All is like the Force want it to be ( something like that ).

This is it. Let go and accept things. Acceptance is true love not passion.

Ok I did not read all of the 500 discussions if Luke should have followed an old and long lost Jedi code to have no kids. So what if he finds out that he should have followed this, but just after he had a kid.Too bad, Luke is just human and finds out the right way a little later in his life. But for drama issues, Luke & Rey now have to deal with it. :)

Once again I can accept that it's a decent way to learn but why abandon the girl ? It's like putting his head in the sand.

we don't know who abandonded Rey on Jakku. Rey was stolen at young age, or there was an attack or Luke never knew he had a kid etc.

I'm sorry I don't think it's good writing. All those theories doesn't fit the timeline we know.

It could be that but it's really really lazy for a story group.

I see your point with Anakin but we don't really know yet with Luke. I suppose it's possible he did that after Ben fell but he hadn't prior to that. We know he didn't let go of his attachments between ROTJ and whenever his order was destroyed. In your mind, was he a Jedi during that time or does it depend on whether or not he took the additional step of having a child (Rey). Also, as has been discussed in this thread, Jedi weren't required to be celibate. If he fathered Rey through a casual encounter rather than a wife or significant other, would you still think he broke the code?
