SPECULATION Is Luke Rey's Father? - The Evidence For and Against

Abrams knows who Rey's parents are but refuses to tell. Secret keepers are inherently untrustworthy when broaching the topic of the secret.

 

If "her parentS are already in her world" mean that she already saw them, it's mean Han and Leia? Because we didn't see any woman in TFA who can be Luke's wife (except if Maz is her)

 

what about Phasma? I remember comments her role is expanded in the next movie.

 

Like you said first impression then he learned more about her and seemed to have far different idea about things.

 

You know a theory is dying when "everyone is lying to protect the truth" is the argument.

Nothing in TFA suggests Han knew more about Rey than the audience.

Why doesn't he tell us who Finn's parents are or where Snoke came from or if Finn is force sensitive? I know Rey Solo is your preferred outcome, but you must concede that based on what we know right now it doesn't look very likely.

 

I will not concede anything at all. Only what's on the screen and comes out of speakers is ultimately canon when it comes down to it. I've watched these Hollywood types including Abrams manipulate people for years when talking about their projects. Abrams tried to con everybody into thinking Finn was the Jedi of his movie and he ignored Rey as often as he could until the trailer came out (Kennedy didn't) nor did he go around directly saying Kylo Ren was the son. I'm almost 40 years old.

If Lucas did a commentary on Episode IV in 1977 he'd be saying Darth Vader killed Luke's dad and that was their first meeting and yada yada. Then he decided he wasn't bound by anything and said 'screw it the villain is the dad.'

 

I'm 37 and my point still stands. Rey Solo is a theory on life support.

People would have said the same thing about the idea that Luke and Leia were brother and sister and Vader was their father back in '77 and '80.

 

Same to me, about Rey Skywalker too

Generally speaking the creative team just stays away from topics they don't want to be revealed. We don't know anything about Luke or Snoke because they've refused to tell us or talk about it. Leia on the other hand, had a book release titled Bloodline. Let's be clear. The book is about Leia and her family. The story group and the creative team of Episode VIII were involved. That says to me.... Leia is fair game. Also,there are numerous quotes that Rey has never met Leia before. They're not even trying to avoid the topic. There's nothing tongue and cheek going on here. The story has moved on past Rey Solo.

i appreciate your points on Reylo being a possibility (albeit a distant one), but painting creative types as being liars and manipulators is sort of extreme, don't you think? i mean, they're trying to protect the integrity of their ideas, not manipulate people for nefarious reasons. if i came up with a cool story that had a neat plot twist you can bet your bottom i would try to steer people away from guessing it correctly. what fun is it knowing all the answers right off the bat anyway?
