Of course not. She's the main hero of the trilogy. But the movie will focus on their relationship and adventures. It will mirror in many ways Luke's discovery and training for the OT in ESB.

We actually don't know yet. It could be something else. We're used to think like that because we have nothing more in our sleeves.

I really hope the story group has something different to bring to the table.

I, for one, WANT to see a Master Luke training a padawan, see his power and growth, he will be very different than Yoda and Obi Wan. Rey will be different than Luke and probably more like Anakin in demeanor, but less willing to be manipulated like Anakin.

Plus we're going to get a great story of what Poe and Finn are up to, and what Leia is dealing with will be very different than any SW movie.

All I am saying is that if Luke and Rey are not really the last Jedi, and they end up producing more Jedi in the future, then it will be limiting as to what they can name future episodes... if there are any. Again, it is more of a big picture, future kind of thing. If you call someone "the Last" in a movie title, especially an ongoing episodic saga where the word "Jedi" has already appeared, it suggests to me more than just that person is the last one in existence right now.

Can they just mean, Luke Skywalker, the last Jedi as of 36 ABY? Sure... there is no question that is what the opening crawl of TFA meant when it described Luke as the last Jedi and what Yoda meant when he said "When I am gone, the last of the Jedi will you be." But when you put it in the title of the movie, "The Last Jedi", it seems to have more finality to it... at least to me. If nothing else, I think they are at least signaling the potential that Luke Skywalker and/or Rey is the very last Jedi that will ever be... I guess from that perspective, maybe it ups the tension. But again, they can't come back 15 years from now and use "Jedi" in a title in any present tense way ("The Jedi Come Back" or "The Jedi Are Not Extinct") that will not make some people look back at Episode VIII and think, well that wasn't really true...

As I said, if Luke (and/or Rey) teaches anyone else and they become a Jedi.... he (or they, since it can be plural) will cease to be the Last Jedi.

This is a good point, though... (taken from another thread)

This page tells us that Leia isn't all that concerned about the girl:

    IMG_1254.PNG

This page tells us that Leia doesn't even know her name after talking with Han!

    IMG_1255.PNG

And this page shows us how Maz knows the saber calling to her "means something" - but doesn't know what. Again, this tells us that Han didn't tell Maz that Rey was Luke's daughter.

    IMG_1253.PNG

So can you please stop saying that the scene cut away from Han and Maz because Han tells her that Rey is Luke's daughter?! All he tells her is the basics - found this girl on the Falcon. She wanted to get back to Jakku as she is waiting for someone. Maz even says in response to Rey saying "I need to get back to Jakku", "Yes, Han told me that". That was all Han said to Maz. He repeated what we the audience had already learned. You don't put needless exposition into movies.

We need to see Han talk to Leia about Rey because it is a big deal. It makes no sense that they wouldn't talk about it and it would just be a silly trick to fool the audience to the detriment of TFA.

I have to confess that I'm not that interested in Finn and Poe.

I like the Force story not really the resistance one.

Well, I agree that IX will be the end of the Skywalker saga. I can't see them continuing it at all. As I have said, there will be no more Skywalker's beyond IX who can have children. This will be The Skywalker Saga 1-9. They can then create a new saga about some other character or family who are at the centre of galactic events. Maybe even non-force users or people with a very different origins (not the all powerful Skywalker genes which is getting dull).

I'd have been a lot more interested if Finn and Poe had been merged and Finn was actually strong with the Force in some way and blew up Star Killer. In the end, Finn is having to be rescued all the time and Poe is missing for half the movie. Silly.

So you wanted Finn to be an awesome pilot who could use the force and ultimately be the one to blow up the death star looking thing.......very original.

You do realize they don't have to end the Skywalker saga to make other "sagas" right?

I have to admit that I think the title makes this more probable... although I am not thrilled if that is the case. "The Last Jedi" sounds like a very simple, yet cool title... but I am quite apprehensive as to what it really means for the Skywalker Saga going forward... or not going forward.

In the context of the film I was presented with - yes, that would've made his character more worthwhile. Poe was pointless. But had I written the script there would never have been a bigger death star, a trench run 2.0 or a force sensitive hero pilot blowing it up.

If the Skywalker's survive then they will forever dominate any future saga because of their power. We've been through this...

Now what about responding to those book pages? Whatcha got, kid?

A normal you're jumping to conclusions and reading things wrong.

Leia says they are goign to do their best to save Rey when they clearly have a bigger, larger danger on their plate. Someone in Leia's position giving an individual even a 2nd thought shows she is concerned. Your 2nd one doesn't show that Leia doesn'tknow her name. And Maz doesn't say she doesn't know what it means, just that it means something special (being a Skywalker would be special right? )
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 24, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 24, 2017 ---
For someone who is, apparently, all about originality, its not a very original idea. Thats all. Its almost like you care more about the last name then originality..........

Its funny, you think Skywalkers are to powerful to be the main characters, yet you want OTHER characters to be the big powerful ones..........

And no, I didn't see that post when I responded. Look up.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 24, 2017 ---
Assuming this means there will never be another Jedi or something is silly. The Emprie Strikes Back didn't meant he Empire will always be getting the upper hand on the good guys - just in that movie.

Rey is her niece, isn't she? But instead she shows little concern and makes it all about helping Finns friend if the mission coincides with doing that. COME ON!

It is Leia asking her name at the top of the screen. Don't make me post another page just to prove that. Take my word for it this time.

"Something". The dialogue clearly shows us that Maz sees the importance but doesn't know why. If she does know, tell her!
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 24, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 24, 2017 ---
I didn't say it was original. I can only move the pieces around that they gave us. I'm just saying Poe was a silly character and clearly shoe-horned in. It would've been better to have Finn take on the role of the great pilot so at least we have someone we're following blow up the big death star.

It has nothing to do with power. I'm simply saying that we don't get to know Poe. And Finn is cannon fodder. It would've been more emotional to have Finn blow up the Star Killer base and maybe get injured in doing it. There was no great climax to that scene. It copied ANH but fell flat.

You mean she isn't allowing her emotions to potentially compromise a military oppertation with galaxy wide consequences? Wow, that sounds almost......responsible. Yet she does allow her ex-husband and a soldier to go save her......almost sounds like she cares.

You meant he quote were Leia wants to know everything about her and how to locate her? Ya she doesn't care.........

And it trails off - that is hardly proof that Maz doesn't know what I means. You're filling in dialog with what you want it to be.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 24, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 24, 2017 ---
I know, I'm just laughing at your cause your whole thing with the Skywalker is "I want something original" then "I want Finn to be Luke V2.0"

If you think Finn is just cannon fodder, well I guess I shouldn't be surprised you seem to think nothing important never happens off-screen for storytelling reasons.........

    Whatever man. Whatever.

Are you a troll? You're telling me that Leia would forget her name after Han just told her?
Leia is helping Finn because of what he did and she knows the girl is either important/Han liked her.
But she shows no personal connection to Rey. She is going to help, but won't compromise the mission by any means.

Again - SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HER NAME!

    This. Is. Pointless.

We're done. You just won't listen to reason.
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 24, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 24, 2017 ---
Once again, you completely miss my point and make yourself look stupid.
How many times have I proven you wrong now? About the Jedi Temple...about why Han took them to Maz...yet you still have this idea that you can laugh at people and say that they "clearly haven't seen the films" or something equally as stupid.

You really need to try and get your head around people's posts. But I guess that is hard when it is firmly up your own a***.

Finn is a badly written character that acts more like a damsel in distress than a soldier. There I said it.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make about off screen stuff.
When Luke doesn't reveal himself as Rey's father in VIII, you'll tell me he did it off screen.[/QUOTE]

For anyone reading, whatever man whatever is what someone who is wrong but doesn't want to admit it says.

No personal connectino - she just wants to know everything about her and to locate her. Why would want to do that if she doesn't care about Rey?

LMAO - unless you are going to claim that ... means "I don't know" then that page doesn't mean what you think it does. I understand your fustration. You REALLY want the evidence to mean something, but it just doesn't. When the evidence doesn't add up the way you want and others refuse to buy into your version of things because of it, doesn't mean they won't listen to reason. Quite the contrary, you're the one who refuses to listen to reason to see how these things don't add up the way you think they do. You're too invested in Skywalker = bad to allow for that.

Fact is - they have purposely not committed one way or the other about it. There is reason to believe Rey isn't Lukes daughter and reason to believe she is. Han could have told Maz she is Lukes daughter when Maz asked who she is, he could have said "no one" - WE DON'T KNOW. Leia could not care about Rey because she is no one, or she could be sending Rey to Luke instead of going herself because she thinks Daughter and Father should have that meeting on their own. Every character not puking information out at every possible moment doesn't mean the characters don't have the information or the info won't be revealed later - see R2 with the Lightsaber.

Ben Solo needs saving so Leia sends him to Luke.
Luke's daughter needs saving and Leia doesn't give a s***.

    Nice.

A lost Skywalker child isn't a new idea. It's an old one from 3 episodes ago.

We know there will be more Jedi. One of the first lines of The Force Awakens is by Lor San Tekka: “Without the Jedi, there can be no balance to the Force.” Snoke is worried about Luke returning and raising the Jedi. It seems to very much that this trilogy is really about Luke/Rey building the Jedi Order again. It's a Skywalker film with or without Rey being a Skywalker because she's tied to Luke. Kylo Ren and Leia are also Skywalkers. The Skywalker family drama is at the center of this story.

Well obviously. But without a doubt Mark Hamill will have top billing like Harrison Ford did in TFA.

But we can't only look at this trilogy in a vaccum. Even if they take years between Episodes IX and X, they are going to want to leave themselves the creative ability to continue on.

I bet Boba's barthed up armour that Mark Hamill has top billing.

I mean, we'll have him in the film from the get-go. We didn't get Han until the start of the second act of TFA!
