SPECULATION OFFICIAL Kylo Ren Discussion Thread

Same reason why I once speculated Gleeson was going to be a Skywalker who falls to the dark side, the sense of tragedy. I just don't feel the evidence supports Kylo Ren Solo

 

This assumes all the other relationships are not just speculation and in addition we want Kylo Ren to be Han's 3rd or 4 kid in the movie. Most people who are suggesting that Ren is a Solo are suggesting that there are only 0 to 1 more kids in the movie at all that related so it is not that EVERYONE is related to Solo its WHO is related to Solo.

 

Luke and Leia look like twins? Luke looks like Anakin or Padme? Leia has Anakin or Padme's features?

 

I didn't suggest that everyone is a Solo, I think everyone here only wants 2 Solo's at max. This is an order of what I believe

1. Rey somehow for some reason is a Solo since the evidence is pointing that direction right now, I will love an explanation of why she lives in the middle of nowhere

2. The two Solo theory lumping in a smaller actor like Anderson or Lourde whose role expands in VIII or IX

3. One Solo theory with Anderson or Lourde

4. Against all conclusions I've drawn from rumors, wild speculation, and knowledge of narrative structure Kylo Ren is our first instance of a non-hyphenated double first name and Kylo Ren Solo joins Ridley as good Solo and bad Solo

 

Look Kylo Ren could just be a new character and Rey could be a Skywalker for all we know. It's ALL speculation at this point. The fact they have not released all the last names or relationships means it's probably part of the plot/surprise.

With all that being said, the name Rey for a female lead character is pretty terrible.

 

Hm, in all honesty it seems that at this point when we have particularly little to actually work with, it would be best some of us here to agree to disagree.

My general thought is that we know very little in the way of specifics, and as such this is mostly opinion-based. At this point when one person brings "evidence" in support of the theory, someone else brings an equal amount of "evidence" to shoot down the theory, and vice versa. Unless one of us here discussing is actually on the inside, this is just mudslinging (and non-sensical down-voting as happened to Bluestreaking's first comment) to cram opinions around.

For my two cents, I don't particularly see a phyisical family resemblance for Driver being a Solo as stated before, though that obviously doesn't preclude him from being one as was also mentioned. Gut feeling says he's not related, but I could be wrong.

I think it's ok enough. It's not as if the other names had something incredibly special that jumped out at first, such as Leia and Padme... aside from both being two syllables of course.

Could be it's just a nickname, or part of her name. Kira Rey like mentioned by you, or "Reyna" like speculated by others, something like that. Could be it's just "Rey" and nothing else. I'll remind you it's not unheard of for a female character to have a "bad" name in Star Wars -- Look at Mon Mothma (simply "Mon", yeesh).

I know Mon Mothma wasn't a lead character, but still... just showing it could be worse than "Rey".

3. Portman was cast because she resembled Fisher, they do look alike

 

boy/girl twins are no more closely related than two regular siblings. Looking at myself and my siblings, we all have different eye and hair color. But I do think they set out to cast Anakin to resemble Luke and Padme to resemble Leia.

 

I have one friend who looks exactly like her male twin but she also looks shockingly similar to her younger sister. The genes in that family just run strong I suppose.

Anyway...who actually said Han Solo and Princess Leia actually stayed together long enough to have kids in the first place?

Part of me is against the idea of Skywalker/Solo offspring just because it has been such a staple of fan speculation over the years. But another part of me would love it because of the nostalgia factor and how I know it will affect me personally from an emotional standpoint. If one of the new cast member is revealed to be a Skywalker or Solo, I'll immediately be more invested in that character; whomever that character may be.

 

Yes it is speculation and has not been confirmed and is legacy in the EU.

I would put it a touch beyond wishful thinking. As much fun as it was to watch Indy and his ex back together after 20 years just in time for Indy to learn that he has a son. I am not sure we need to see the same gag this time starring Carrie Fisher.

 

I could ask this in reverse. Do you really think JJ wasn't aware of or involved in the GQ shoot? He's managed the flow of information so well, only giving us breadcrumbs. Obviously, dressing him subtly in the vein of Han Solo hasn't confirmed anything since we are debating it. I think that may have been the point.

As for the whole Driver doesn't look like a Solo, I agree 1000% he would not be my choice for Han Jr. He doesn't look like any relation to a Solo or Skywalker.

 

Hmmmm I don't know he does kinda have a mix of their features. Kind of the nose down of Ford and the eyes up of Fisher.

Pretty sure someone posted that a few days ago.
However re-reading that article got me thinking about marketing Darth Vader for this new movie.
Darth Vader is Darth Vader and every Darth Vader Figure is the same.

However I always imagined that maybe Darth Vader had different helmets and armor for different situations or environments that maybe we never got to see.
( I know thats a long shot) But as a kid I could almost picture Vader with different gear from time to time.

What if the helmet with the yellow lines is one of Vaders Alternate helmets we get to see in a flash back? What better way to make more Darth Vader Figures and toys than if he had multiple outfits. Maybe Kylo Ren Discovers the helmet and begins wearing it.

Highly unlikely, but just a thought i had.

 

Yeah Just making sure everyone saw that. I don't think there were multiple helmet styles I think the concept they are trying to portray there is the character is either obsessed with or connect wth Vader in some way. It's really hard to pin down what the concept is for without knowing the context. I'm getting the feeling we are missing something that is right in front of us but we can't help but be wrong without more confirmed info. Perhaps someone isn't who we think they are?? Just getting a feeling like one of those moments is coming where we go "ooooooh we were waaaaay off"
